It's subscription based. Cant open any magazine to see it without signing up for a $45 subscription. I mean I don't even know if I will like the magazine and already they want my money. It also froze my phone (galaxy S8+) a couple of times. Ended up uninstalling. There are plenty of other Raspberry magazines out there more user friendly.

Update: 2/28/2017 be aware you only have access to new regular issues after you subscription starts and the 1st 30 issues. Have had subscription a little over a week and only able to access issues 1 thru 31, not the full list. Tried working with them but I'm not there beta tester. I'll give them a few more days then I'll request a refund.

Designed for phones. What about tablets? What about Chromebooks (crashes on load). Why not put the magazine in the Play Newsstand? Isn't that what the Newsstand is for? Seriously.

R70%
by R####:

Well, I didn't really get it working. I like the MagPi but it filled my gallery with the covers of every issue.

R70%
by R####:

Not worked for nearly 5 months - makers constantly promise it will be fixed. Will be cancelling subscription and asking for a refund for all purchases made, which cannot now be accessed

R70%
by R####:

I'm no longer able to read any new issues, I just get a black screen when clicking on the last 3 issues. Might need to get a refund if not fixed soon.

Did they do no user testing? The app cannot be used offline if the magazine is not already open. The wrong covers display in "my library". When trying to connect to the internet, I can't open my download magazines. The zooming on the pdf reader I often does not work. This app should just be a glorified pdf reader.

App does not work on either my tablet or phone. Don't make any purchases because you won't be able to read them...

Used to be unfathomable slow, now however, it crashes on startup. Which actually turns out to be an improvement.

Worst reading experience I've ever had. The content is OK. The subscription auto download never works, the magazine often crashes. It's slow and difficult to interact with. Apps that are this awful should be punished.

S70%
by S####:

waste of time and money. App keeps crashing and heavy load, you have to close and restart multiple of times. You pay to subscribe and then have to pay again to get some issues. Dont waste money you can download them for free from the website. It should be for free here.

I couldn't zoom on to. Personally I'd prefer to get the individual magazines through Google Books on the play store. Please also look at this option, this would work far better for everyone I think. I'd like to pay for issues, but they need to be useable. Currently download the PDF then upload to play books to get around useability issues

Should have known by the 50/50 comments this was likely bad. Downloaded the app, it froze. After re-loading the app, tried to download one, and it said I needed to log into my Goggle account, and I already was. Once I began a download it froze again, and the poor user interface offers you no way to cancel the operation. Additionally I see no need for the app. All it offers is a way to purchase or download the pdf files.

A constant Problem on getting new issues, forcing long talks with techsupport. A shame for a quite good magazine and a visible spot on Raspberry producers.

Bought the latest mag, download started... and nothing happened. Stuck on 0%. A waste of $7

F70%

I can very well assure that even the raspberry pi will load the resources for more than 10 minutes (This app sucks! Can't access any of the issues and keeps loading for more than 10 minutes and doesn't do anything) I thought of learning something but I give up finally with this stupid app-Dont Waste Your Time

T70%
by T####:

Why is it constantly consuming large quantities of data even though the pdf already downloaded. Inpossible to read without decent Wifi connection, so why build an app if i have to stay at home to read. Can't even use it there because it keeps crashing every few pages. Absolute crap (on Nexus 6).
