PLEASE READ THE FAQ BELOW TO SEE IF THIS APP WILL WORK FOR YOU!

FAQ

1. What can be displayed?
Generally anything you can display in a browser including HTML files and images such as .gif, .jpg and .png. NOTE: Some web pages are too complex for the built in ChromeCast web browser to handle.

2. Does it support HTTP and HTTPS ?
Yes it does.

3. Can it display items from a local, non-Internet server?
Yes it can. As long as the ChromeCast is on the same network as the server.

4. How can I display a file if I don't have a web server?
You can use Dropbox or Google Drive to host your files and add your share links to Web2Cast

5. Doesn't casting a tab in Chrome do the same thing as this app?
Sort of. However the Web2Cast display will be much crisper as it is not "streaming" a tab but actually displaying the web page in the ChromeCast browser. Additionally you can leave the display running without having to have Chrome running and casting.

6. Can I navigate a web page that is displayed by Web2Cast?
The app provides the ability to scroll the page up and down. Unfortunately the ChromeCast browser has its input disabled so links cannot be clicked on, there is no cursor and text cannot be entered.

7. Only my page background is displayed. What's wrong?
Some pages automatically center their content vertically, if this is the case your page's content may not be immediately visible on screen. Try press the "Center" button on the Remote screen to display your content.

A very limited app, it does not display full webpage only part of it. If you want to see webpage in your TV, better wait until Chrome will allow you so.

Q70%
by Q####:

The only thing you can do is scroll up or down on websites. It would be worth the money if there were a mouse to click on things or if you could scroll left and right. Another thing a lot of websites don't even work even though it says any website Got the star because you can see some websites.

If you are looking for a easy cheap digital signage solution and have a hosted web site to publish html too then this is it.

I setup a webpage on a local server pulling an from 3 monitors to make a montage of my 3 ipcameras and this lets me watch all three of them at the same time on my tv via the chromecast browser. its excellent. i love it.

Crap! Uninstalled and got a refund. Even other free apps do better than this.

Really useful, used twice at work for displaying web based dashboard on big screen. Little problem, on all our displays, we can see a gray border (chrome ?) on left & top border preventing us to perform nice full screen experience.

X70%

I had been looking for a way to cast a web page without constantly streaming it and this is the perfect solution.

N70%
by N####:

I have an office full of wall-mounted flatscreen TVs with Chromecasts. While its great to be able to change what they are showing on the fly, it is a pain to keep a browser window open in the background to cast various metrics and health checks somewhere we can see them. With this app, I can cast a page where I want it and it stays there even when I turn my phone off. That is EXACTLY what I wanted, and the people giving it poor reviews clearly don't understand what it is good for. Thanks to the author!

Z70%
by Z####:

Please ignore the bad reviews for this app, they are just because the users have not understood the purpose of the app. I am using it to display a Navision Dashboard, perfectly!

It doesn't do anything... just displays the front page of a website???? Can't type anything just a still image...wtf is this?

Z70%
by Z####:

If the pages were interactive and if I didn't have to setup every page from the app before casting them it would be five stars. With that said, this app makes sending webpages to Chromecast possible and that's good enough to get the job done.

Z70%

More stars are due when the app can cope with HTTPS sites with self-signed certificates. Also, it seems to struggle following HTTP redirects. Finally, what about web pages that require login and other interaction - it needs to be possible to input data. Please add these as a feature and the app will become very useful. update: fast feedback from developer, good to know the limitations.

Z70%
by Z####:

It's a shame this doesn't show up with search terms like chromecast, webpage... Etc. Lot of people looking for something like this. WARNING: It's not interactive. And seems to have memory issues with loading long pages.. Scrolling down at some point just scrolls to a black cutoff
