About NitroDroid

[NOTE: There are still a few small features missing, so before you go 1-starring it, check them! They will get added soon enough, school permitting.]

NitroDroid is an Android version of the desktop task management program "Nitro". It attempts to mimic Nitro in literally every way possible, even down to the UI. The difference? NitroDroid is on your 'droid!

It shares many of the features of the desktop Nitro such as:
-Beautiful interface
-Task attributes such as priority, due date, and tags
-Various types of sorts, including "Magic" sort
-Sync with Dropbox and Ubuntu One
-Themes, based off of the themes from the desktop Nitro
-Translations

NitroDroid bringing the power of Nitro to the awesomeness of Android also gives it a distinct advantage over other cow-related task management apps:
-No subscription! Just download and go. No silly restrictions.
-Lightweight. NitroDroid weighs in at about 750KB compared to the competition's >5MB.
-Free....dom respecting. NitroDroid is open-source! You know, if you're into that sorta thing.

On top of all that, NitroDroid also has a FANTASTIC looking tablet interface!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Features still in the works~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
LOCALIZATION: Apparently Google is very anal about the phone control the local, not per app. I am determined to find a way.
MOVE-TO-LOGBOOK: Maybe not so much a "small" missing feature but I will get to it. I thought it was important to get this current release out than keep you waiting.
DONATE: This isn't actually a feature. But you should donate. It gives you a warm fuzzy feeling, makes me feel that what I'm doing is appreciated, and if I ever meet you I will buy you a glazed donut.
App History & Updates
What's Changed
Happy Birthday! To me! This release is far overdue and I appreciate your patience. Hopefully it is worth it....you decide.
The most major update is that NitroDroid is now FREE! Pricing it was an experiment I wanted to have, and you can read all about my thoughts on the experiment at http://blog.qweex.com.
On top of that, it also includes WORKING Ubuntu One sync and a ton of bug fixes.
Enjoy! :)
Nice looking app that simple does nothing except have a spinning sync icon. No lists ever appear. Shame.
Good crossplatform app, I'd love to use it if Dev fix it. Set date not working, shame. Other seems to be OK, but no date = no use.
Every time I try to sync it with Dropbox this stupid app crashes. I remember installing it last year also with the same problem thought maybe this time it would work. But to my surprise no fix yet. It simply crashes!
Thanks so much for this. The only thing preventing me from using nitro was the lack of android client. Looking forward to updates. Donation sent :)
I really like the desktop version. I would rate 4 stars if there was widgets, and 5 for background sync. Will generously donate when any of these issues are resolved.
On Nexus 7 2013 and Nexus 4, trying to set due date on a task fails. Only allows a date of December 1969. Selection calendar does not function. Sync works OK. Web version on android chrome does not allow editing of existing tasks. Web version on PC chrome is fully functional.
Very nice app, very clean design. Simplest sync between Ubuntu and android via dropbox. However cannot use it on my nexus 4 to create notes as it appear that there are no save button. each time i create a new note it remain empty. Fix this for 5 stars !!!
The desktop version of this app for Ubuntu is great, but the sync with dropbox is unreliable, so it's not ready to use yet. I hope the developer is able to fix this soon as I use Nitro daily on my desktop and I would love to take my lists with me. If sync worked, I would give it 3 stars, and 4 or 5 if more features from the main app were included and worked reliably.
I would love to make a positive review but too many bugs and design flaws don't allow me to do it. The Nitro applications (web, desktop and mobile interfaces) have not been developed for a while while and it is very sad because Nitro has a great potential. This application mainly needs to review syncing, date picking (for new tasks) and its graphic design. If i can help change that, I'd would gladly do it. I hope I'll be able to change this review rating soon !
The sync feature is still a bit quirky, so to ensure I don't lose any data I only add tasks from the desktop application. Also, creating new entries (which is pointless if sync isn't working) isn't nearly as easy as it is in the desktop application. With that said, it's still great to have a copy of all of my tasks on my phone, even if I don't add items from there, and when I do need to write up a task I simply use ColorNote and transcribe it when I'm next at my desk. I'm eagerly looking forward to future improvements because Nitro is best task/todo manager I have used, and if the Android version were just as amazing, I'd be set.
Can't find any way to add a task. :-/ Can't change the date from Jan 1st, 1970! I hate this app, can't use it for anything. Uninstalling.
If you only want a list with check boxes, this should be fine. Of you want to use tags, dates or notes then this will be a little disappointing... for now at least. Freezes up whenever trying to set any of the above attributes. Also, dates set from computer are a day off... something due today shows as due yesterday. Sync is constantly reporting errors, though it at least seems to update data correctly. Changes might not be visible immediately, however.
The new upgrade works well on my HTC Desire HD, and synch with UbuntuOne wild perfectly too. Happy to give this a high score now.
I've been using Nitro on Ubuntu for a while now, and was pleasantly surprised when I discovered they had an Android app. After trying to use it for a couple of weeks now I must say I get the feeling that they must have deployed an un-complete product. The sync can't be trusted, the UI has way to many issues and the overall usage just doesn't feel right. I hope it gets updated to fix some of the issues, but while it's in this state I can't recommend it nor use it.
Initial Release = alpha Design is clean, though it seems to have some slight issues in the display for switching task lists on my smaller screen. I have not yet been able to sync with U1, so I can say that it is, indeed, flaky. I'm guessing both of these issues are being worked on and am looking forward to getting better use out of this. Before anyone misses the point the developer made, it is true that Free Software can be for profit. A quote the developer may have been referring to is, "Free as in free speech, not free beer." I do not often buy apps... mostly because the ones I want are free, but I am glad to contribute to the development of this. I have not tried Dropbox syncing yet, but U1 still has not synced after several hours. Also force closes when trying to add tags to tasks. Just to be clear, I consider this app to be promising, but not nearly there yet. I expect that after an update or two it will be the best I have seen, but for now it isn't very useful.
