وُلد عبد الرحمن السديس في المملكة العربية السعودية سنة 1382هـ، وسط قبيلة عنزة في الرياض. و قد تمكن من ﺣﻓﻈ القرﺁن ولم يكن يبلغ من العمر اثني عشر سنة، وذلك بفضل والديه اللذين سجلاه بمدرسة لتحفيظ القرآن الكريم، حيث تتلمذ فيها على يد عدد من الشيوخ أمثال الشيخ عبد الرحمن ابن عبد الله آل فريان، و الشيخ المقرىء محمد عبد الماجد ذاكر، والشيخ محمد علي حسان.
هو الرئيس العام لشؤون المسجد الحرام والمسجد النبوي وإمام وخطيب المسجد الحرام بمكة المكرمة، ومن أشهر مرتلي القرآن الكريم في العالم. تمكن من حفظ القرآن ولم يكن يبلغ من العمر اثني عشر سنة.
في سنة 1979 حصل السديس على شهادة من المعهد العلمي الرياض بتقدير ممتاز. بعد ذلك في سنة 1983 أتم السديس دراسته العليا بالجامعة حيث حصل على شهادة في الشريعة، ثم بعدها على الإجازة من الجامعة الإسلامية محمد بن سعود سنة 1987. ونال بعد ذلك الدكتوراه في الشريعة الإسلامية سنة 1995 من جامعة أم القرى. عرف عبد الرحمن السديس بالنبرة الخاصة في صوته التي تخشع معها الأفئدة وتجويده الممتاز للقرآن الكريم. نال السديس جائزة الشخصية الإسلامية للسنة في الدورة التاسعة لجائزة دبي الدولية للقرآن الكريم سنة 1995

Abdul Rahman Al-Sudais was born in Saudi Arabia in 1382, amid a goat tribe in Riyadh.
