XDA for Android 2.3 for Android
The world famous XDA forums formatted for your Android phone! With this app you can browse the forums, read, post, send private messages, and more. Note that this app will not work if you have Android 4.0 or higher.
Note that the first forum load will take the longest, even if you're over WiFi.
Amazing. If you r wanting to know/understand what/how to make your Android be all it can truly be, this is the app too have. I mean anything/everything, it's all here. Just click install
This app works great to browse the XDA Forums. The only issue I have had on both a Galaxy Nexus and LG G3 is that when clicking on certain carrier-specific sub-threads it redirects me back to the home screen of the app. If I clear the defaults on my browser and this app I can launch those threads in the browser without issue. Other than that, this app is great!
Never had any issues with this app for browsing XDA forums. Ads within the app itself are generally unobtrusive and not too bothersome to warrant upgrading to premium. Now, after a recent update, I'm greeted with multiple browser and play store popups.
No way to search for forums forcing you to scroll through thousands of different forms to find the one you want. No way to go back to the main forum when you're looking at a post without using the back button. Also recently when I launch the app it opens a pop up spam site in my browser
When this app works, it works great. But on all three of my devices (EOS 4.4.4 Xoom, CM11 G'Nex, Stock Lollipop LG G3) I've had posts that won't post, tons of crashes, refreshes that never refresh, seen repeating posts on top of one and other... This is too unstable to rate any higher.
After you get all the post editing features from the browser version, I'm sold! Another thing you should more on is making this app more like premium version. I'm happy if it has few features less than it and banner ads, just make this app more usable ;P
Used to be OK, now it hangs when changing forums and constantly sends me to the play store to download some other app or game. A mobile browser is much more efficient and I don't get hijacked back to the play store. What a shame it has come to this.
The ads in this app hijack your phone. It will open a browser window and/or play store without even touching the ad. Most of the time, this occurs immediately launching the app or a few seconds after. It is annoying and it poses as a security risk. This app should be better since it represents a community of developers.
Better than using the website on your mobile. However can get very sluggish viewing threads with large posts, and navigating to next page is hit and miss. A way to add categories to favourites would be good, as atm scrolling through hundreds or trying to use the search to find the one you want gets rather annoying.
However, ads are extremely aggressive. Nearly every time the app changes pages it launches an ad that directly opens the play store and tries to get you to download some stupid freemium games. Not to mention that there is also a banner ad on every page.
Very slow to populate forum, duplicate threads, threads are not in alphabetical or any order for devices listed. Additionally this forum seems to be nothing more now than a place for chat buddies to hang out. Many seeking help post Qs but get no reply.
I couldn't post because I didn't have permission in that area. --original-- This is the problem: when viewing a thread, there are two blank buttons which I assume are supposed to be reply and post. When I try to make to press on them, the app just crashes. I would love a fix. This is an Xperia Z1, upon which the problems are occurring.
keeps getting "failed to connect to forum". Most times the forums will not show up, but once in a while it does (while still displaying that message). In the end, I just resort to using the web based version since this version is so unreliable.
4 stars. Love the app for browsing my favorite threads quickly. But if my search area isn't a favorite I need to scroll to find my phone instead of just searching like the website. Also when I press the back button to check something or try a solution he app doesn't open whee I left off. Back to the home screen to find my phone again. Other then that. Great app
The fact I have to hold the recent applications buttons to get it to display settings (like from the good old gingerbread days) is very funny. Oh, not being able to have your subscriptions to threads survive a data wipe is also annoying. Not being able to reset your password through the application is aggravating. I clicked the reset link in gmail and I got a prompt asking if I should use the web browser or the xda application. I tried the XDA app and it went into a never ending cycle of attempting to load.
For an app thats made for the community that creates such amazing mods this app is leaves much to be desired. its slow to start up and visually its still stuck in the past. Really needs to be updated and the premium version is basically a waste of time unless you just want to donate. Most times I just end of back on the site with my computer.
I loved XDA but lately with the ads on this app. Its making it feel more like spamware rather than a useful app. I don't click on any ad yet when I go into this app I'm redirected 3 or 4 times to either a website or play store. This is malicious.
A huge community of fantastic devs deserve a MUCH better app. This thing was last updated in August of previous year. This app literally has all the gingerbread era animations! Seriously guys, its already time for Material Design!
Paid for the premium one but this it's better, so have gone back to it. For devs their apps are crap. BTW you are using this and are sick of being hijacked you should know what adaway it's.never seen an ad.I've paid for the premium version do feel justified doing this as that version is crap.
Still asks for ratings even tho I've already rated, and nothing has changed. It still sticks at loading or fails to connect to the forum. It still sucks! After even three more months it asks to rate. So keeping it at 1 star
Helpful, 2 things!! I know that it's hard to navigate at first, in fact still is by phone. BUT search your questions first. And be sure to thank the ones to help. Oh, and read the rules because by doing so, you will less likely irritate the bunch, that are so greatly helpful. Thank you
Been using this app for awhile now and each update has fixed many issues that have been troublesome. Only issue I have now that keeps me pulling up the full website is that some posts will not load the further I go down the list.
Some of the people on XDA can really help when you're phone has become unresponsive. On the other side of things, never (and I mean never) ask a question without searching first!! Search is your friend
I like using the xda app over using tapatalk. The xda app just takes me right to xda for the stuff I am looking for. It is not as powerful as using the desktop/browser, but works fine for mobile. UPDATE: The app also has the advantage of not having way too many ads in your face as the desktop site.
I lost my data .. Back up... On my s4.. Doesnt turn on.. Its just ppen when i Only do recovery option. Can u help me xda..;( my samsung gti9500 totally empty except the system
Upgraded from free version, crashes every 5 to 10 minutes on all my devices.Cleared cache, data, in installed Ann reinstalled countless times but keeps crashing. Finally went back to free version which works smoothly.
There isn't a single day where this app isn't displaying some sort of issue. A while back it used to force close a lot ALONG with ALWAYS for some reason "Failed to connect to forum".. Honestly if it weren't for the fact that these forums have gems all over the place this app would be Uninstall'd and black listed.. just constant issues.. since forever. please fix.
I've just started delving into the Android system within the last 6 months. My go to place for learning and troubleshooting
Assuming it ever was, it no longer seems useful. The only parts of the app that still seem to function are the searching and reading of all forums in XDA and PMs. The rest of the functionality seems to be broken reporting "no posts" etc. I downloaded the app thinking it would let me keep better track of subscribed threads, but I don't see that functionality anywhere. Uninstalled.
Finally able to sign in after 2 days. Always failed to connect forum error toast. App doesn't show search results. Very laggy. Non-rooted stock ROM.
I almost never face no issues. Most of the time it loads slowly, and sometimes it says "connection error" and i never reach my destination... When the app works fine- it is great, favorite section is amazing! Just fix the connection issus and it'll be 5 stars for me. Thanks. UPDATE: after months of struggle they say its for android 2.3. Worst experience on Google play
Easy enough to use, however, one thing I would like to see implemented, is the device threads alphabetized. Have to scroll for 10 mins to find the device I wanna post about. Otherwise, great app!
i can't register when ever i select register app restarts its self i m on android 4.4.4 moto e art runtime
It's pretty good app for accessing xda. But sometimes it doesn't work at all. Like messages won't show up, profile won't come up. So it'll be very good if you could fix these pity things.
Maybe a little more material design? P.S: To those that doesn't have a menu button on their phone, just hold the recent apps button and you'll be able to access the menu. (Works on the Note 4 and S5, I'm not too sure on the S6 though)
You can navigate all the forums and threads, etc, Your subscriptions, even threads you ever participated in... But hell, when posting, you can't even attach any files! You have to either do it from a computer, or login to the website through an Internet browser, to post any attachments aside from a hyperlink... hate that.... 5 stars again when basic fundamental features like that are added to the app...
For an official app to the premier android coding site... You would think that it wouldn't constantly throw 'failed to connect' errors. It's almost not even worth using anymore. Have to refresh repeatedly before it stops erroring and finally shows new posts. Then have to clear from recents to get rid of the toast spam.
Cant beat having all the available knowledge that so many people have worked their assets off to provide. Thanks XDA!
If coming from a Google search, there's no way to go up one level from the current thread. Pressing back just goes to universal Unread. Ironic that XDA is about coders and developers, and yet the interface of this app is pretty mediocre.

5 stars, but I might downgrade this rating because there are a few things that I need for this app to be useful. Perhaps I haven't found them yet, perhaps they don't exist in the app yet. 1. Can't search within a thread (difficult to find posts relating to "wifi"/"*search term*" in a thread with 4,000 posts) 2. Can't move throughout forum (if Google takes me to a thread, I'm stuck in it and can't move up the forum hierarchy). I would appreciate a response from the app developers.
