Qmusic for Android
Qmusic is not 100% with ChromeCast Audio. I have no issues with other apps such as RadioCanada, or SoundCloud but Qmusic not so good. I have 2 zones set up with ChromeCast Audio. "Kitchen" and "Living Room." I created a group combining the 2 zones called "Main Floor". When using Qmusic it will not play to the combined group "Main Floor" even though it lists it as an option. It will play to either "Kitchen" or "Living Room" only. When I select "Main Floor" it will only play in one zone. I should be able to play the same music simultaneously with all the zones that I create using ChromeCast Audio. When I use ChromeCast Audio with"RAdioCanada" or "SoundCloud" I am able to control each group and even control each zone within each group. Wold be nice to have the same control when using Qmusic. I have contacted Q support and I believe they are trying to find a fix. Hopefully soon. If they come up with a fix my rating of this item will certainly be better.
Working just fine without any glitches. The new feature of presenting music sorted in albums when selecting artist is just what I needed. Thank you very much.
only sees 3 folders on the NAS and does not play the music to my bluetooth head set
A bookmark feature - that automatically records one's track position - would be hugely helpful for listening to audiobooks. I'd give five stars for this feature.
on of the most frustrsting apps to deal with as a business. they offer no support. if i could unpurchase from Qnap I WOULD.
Great piece of software. Do not down vote if u r not proficient enough to set it up!
I let this play random tracks to listen to on my way to & from work. Does a pretty good job, and seems to pick some crackers from my collection of MP3s. Even with my slow home broadband my phone starts playing music quickly via 3/4G.
Absolutely fandabedosey
Most of the time the app does not work for me. When trying to display artists, albulms, or songs, it shows as empty. When it occasionally does work, it only shows the first 100 artists of the 1000+ it says I have. When I sort them in reverse, then it shows as empty and there is no way to sort again.
Random mp3 files not showing up in the playlist - music folders takes forever to populate the containing tracks or never at all
It uses 111mb of spaces (just for the app). Completely unjustified in every universe in existence.
Essentially useless. Sorting puts punctuation first. Folders view does not recognize sub folders. Search artist returns random songs, does not return it go to albums.
Needs work. Does not allow download directory sharing with Qfile. Does not play album tracks in order. I've owned a Qnap NAS for almost 10 years. Not sure they have put much work in this app. It's nice to also have an iPhone version.
Seeking now does not work. Playback frequently stops. Unreliable
No equalizer and can't even search and play an Album.
Terrible, go buy Synology
Doesnt support phones equalizer like spotify does. Important thing.
I have enjoyed watching the progress of qnap apps over the last year i have owned my qnap nas server. Qmusic still has a way to go but it's getting better. Things I'd like to see are better management like selecting multiple files to change Id tags like album, artist and year, etc . Change the cover of a genre One other really useful feature would be the ability to cache files ahead of time when streaming, but not the same as downloading as i don't store anything on my device. For example if i have a playlist, whilst it's playing one song look ahead and cache the next tracks. That way they are ready to play if lose signal, particularly when traveling. Hope that makes sense. Otherwise will done
Since my phone has been upgraded to Android 7 this app is now useless... Won't play tracks, freezes for to often to be usable. It never was a great app and now it's worse until qnap catch up... Shame
The control's are very illogical, quircky and slow, not for music lovers, but it does what it promises. Only positive thing is it can stream to Chromecast devices.
Streaming is unusable if your NAS is slow to upload. Buffering isn't really working as you would expect. Song is breaking up, time indicator is jumping around. No way to see all the albums for the artist. Sorting doesn't work right. Losing connection and doesn't reconnect itself. Refresh doesn't work in this case. Have to kill the app and open again. Hope it will help to improve the app.
The app is good when it works but in the past few days it's been giving pop up that it "stopped working". Please fix it.
Get a qmusic has stopped error all the time, then warnings it is making phone run slow. Would sooner use Qfile but some songs only play 3 seconds then skip so forced to use this. Lousy.
Not working since latest update
Sorting doesn't work. No sorting option for file name. This is shocking how a music player is incapable of basic functions. At least it plays songs.
Not bad, but clunky and playlists seem to time out randomly.
Overall this app provides a great way of listening to your music collection on your Qnap server from anywhere over WiFi or mobile data network. However, I did have problems with downloading music to my mobile phone. I have an external 64 Gb SD card I wished to use but on phones with Android version 5.0 and later the app is required to get authorisation from the user and Qmusic hasn't got this facility. Consequently I couldn't utilise my 64 Gb external SD card but had to use phone's internal Sdcard folder with it's limited memory.
Plays music fine but the meta reader element of this is shockingly bad when it's so important to browse your albums by meta image won't work with iTunes library won't show meta come on qnap get this sorted new to qnap awesome hardware but apps very rough and unfinished
Perfect! Fast, no force quits. Works with DDNS. Search its also perfect. All i need. So far i think QNAP was the best choice for NAS drive.
Like the other qnap stuff...connecting...preparing...failed.setup of unit has not changed.this used to work
Keep up the good work
So much better than it was just a year ago. Put it to the test with mp3 and flac.. no problems so far. I really love chromecast compatibility. Works great.
Auto login fails if you switch networks.
It needs essentials to be called "music app" maybe something similar to Spotify or similar app
I don't hear music that much, I only have 150 songs. I only use the random songs feature which is why i like the app.
Do the people at Qnap who developed this app ever use it? Or if they do is it with a small collection of pop music where it might just about work? I'm sorry to be negative but I've has a Qnap NAS for a few years now and this app has never improved. Albums are often split up in album view even though I have tagged them correctly, picking genre shows every track - I have around 400 digital albums!! I haven't retested hapless playback but I doubt it is there. It's a real shame. Use Bubbleupnp instead.
Initially had to restart the phone after install as it stopped any sounds from phone. Try to play an album and it seems to go through every track before playing one.
Cons: Can't play by folders
Keep up the good work

As a qnap user this app has promise. But it lacks some features that are just basic in other apps. 1. Can we please have a function to manual or auto download or search for cover art from last.fm or wikipedia or other sources (via http)? 2. There's too much work involved in creating playlists, particularly if your screen is small and you are working with one hand. Have a button or function to hold down on a song to add to playlist. 3. How does one clear an existing playlist? There is a delete button, but I think it deletes the song. There should be a "clear playlist" button. 4. Have a function to add more than one song to the buffer. Subsonic allows you to preload five songs. This way if you lose network (like go underground in a tunnel or subway) for 5 minutes or so, your playlist can keep going. Hope qnap continues working on upgrades. It's a great addition for owners.
