The 'Public Stuff' portion of the app is great. The fact that the city has added a bunch of reformatted data to the app from the Hudson website was a bad move and to me makes the whole app a fail. By adding sections like emergency notifications one would expect push notifications and not a sign up for yet another 3rd party application.
