P&CFootball for Android
If you wish to try this app there a free version of P&CFootball now available (search for P&CFootball on your Google Play Store)!
Basically, everybody in the group tries to predict the results of ten matches every weekend.
Advantages over the normal method of printing sheets are:
Less work for the organiser - no sheets to print, no calculating of points, winnings, league tables.
These are available at the touch of a button the moment the last match has been completed.
There can be no claims of "fiddling" - all players can see all predictions before kick-off of the first match.
Expenses such as ink and paper are no more.
If any player is absent (e.g. holidays), he/she may just send in their forecasts from anywhere via email (after paying "up front" for the absent weeks).
However, if you prefer the "old way", just input only your email address when inputting the players. You can then just print off copies the email you receive and copy it for the other players.
So, how does it work :
The organiser selects ten games which are being played that weekend. A button is pressed and each player will receive an email with the selections and the previous week's results, players' league table and winnings. Those players with no email address can get a copy off another player. The weekly winning amounts are set up at the start of the season but can be changed for any week (e.g. a "double week" at Christmas).
The players reply to the email with their forecasts. Set the deadline for them to say 5pm on Friday- if they don't reply by then, they get the default score set up at the season's start - e.g. 3:1.
The replies (forecasts) are entered into the app.
On Saturday morning, you press a button and the app sends all the players with an email address with everybody's forecasts (so that everybody knows there's no skullduggery going on).
When the matches finish (or as the matches are being played for a little excitement), you enter the scores into the app. The app then calculates everybody's points, refreshes the league table and allocates winnings. These details are sent with the next week's selections to every player.
There is a free trial version of this app available (via Google Play Store). It is fully functional, but only works for two weeks, so try it and if you find it works for you, merely pay £10 through you normal Google Play account. It is then available for the rest of the season.
