**IT NEEDS ROOT**
This is a work in progress project which has the goal to speed performance and extend endurance of smartphone internal flash memory.
Smartphone internal storage uses solid state technology SSD/emmc. Counterpart to lower access time, and less latency of SSD is that its performance may degrade over time: writing after writing, the memory cells show a measurable drop in performance, and will continue degrading throughout the life.
'SSD Boost' minimizes writings on your SSD, increasing speed and extending life of your storage: your smartphone will thank you.
Though the main goal of the app is the optimization of flash memory, many users have also experienced (read the reviews) a better responsiveness in the startup of the apps, a longer battery endurance and a decreased temperature of the phone.
Probably because 'SSD Boost' app is a workaround to some insane process running in the background, that keeps writing to disc. This has been experienced from Android ICS version to Oreo (both stock and custom).
It needs a rooted phone.
Be careful, if you have got one of the following models:
- Samsung Galaxy R.
- Samsung Galaxy SII.
- Samsung Galaxy Note.
- Samsung Galaxy Nexus.
- Samsung Epic 4G Touch.

What does TRIM for ssd/nand performance.
Unlike HDD, SSD cannot overwrite data because only a transition from 0 to 1 is possible, so before overwriting the data has to erase the whole page to 0 then program the bits.
Erasing takes longer then writing data, so after you used the device for a while it will have to erase the pages before writing them and cripple performance.
It would be so much better if controller would erase the blocks while idle so you have them ready when you need to write. Unfortunately this is not possible as controller has no knowledge of file system so it does not know what blocks are used and with are not.
TRIM command, when supported by the SSD/NAND, allows operating system to send a list of blocks to controller to erase when is idle.
Android 4.3+ supports trim natively, it means that operating system after deleting a file will sends a trim command to nand controller notifying witch blocks the file used, the controller will erase them when idle so it can write fast without erasing next time.
But users have no control over this process and Android doesn't trim the storage for a very long time.
'SSD Boost' helps you to run trim on your device manually if you feel it has become laggy and anyway it does trim for you on every reboot.
It overtakes LagFix (fstrim) limitation, supporting Android 5 Lollipop.

Android maintains file system metadata that records when each file was last accessed. This timestamp is known as atime and atime comes with a performance penalty – every read operation on a filesystem generates a write operation.
Updating the atime every time a file is read causes a lot of usually-unnecessary IO, slowing everything down.
'SSD Boost' disables the tracking of atime, remounting filesystems with the noatime/noadiratime options.

Some users criticize the name of the app, 'SSD Boost'.
Actually, the word 'boost' is misleading: the app, strictly speaking, doesn't speed up transfer rate, but works around limitations on ssd technology and linux kernel.
Instead, concerning the use of word 'SSD': the most common use is 'flash memory', but when a flash memory implements an interface to some bus, this device constitutes a drive in itself, then it can be properly called SSD.
Every flash memory in every smartphone implements an interface to a bus, so you can use both words mutually.

My Moto G3 already ran smoother than ever on Lineage, but Jesus Christ. I know at least one of the things it does is remount all your filesystems with "noatime" but there's no way that's all it does, it never made that kind of difference with plain Linux on an SSD.

This app is amazing, it does what it says and more. My load times have drastically increased. Not only that, but my phone is gaining an extended battery life and getting less hot. I recommend any root user download this, as I feel that any phone can benefit from these qualities.

Average ram usage dropped from 0.96Gb to 0.90Gb on Tab 4 SM-T230nu. entire system runs much faster. ran four apps at once that would normally crash at least one service and also lag out entire device. virtually no lag time switching between apps and system remained stable. excellent app for rooted stock rom. needs some type of stay awake cmd in scripting. I've noticed that after several hours even if program is kept in background window has to be pulled up to re-activate

It seems to work. I try to do some before/after comparisons. If I disable it, dose it remove noatime and remount the file systems? Or it makes a copy of the original fstab before enabled and revert it back when disabled? Thank you. P.S. Then do I need to reboot after enabling it? Thank you. P.S.2: After noatime mounting, I notice that / rootfs and /system is mounted as "rw" instead of "ro" as in before-noatime-mounting. Is that intended? Thank you.

Well I didn't believe the previous comments, but this app made my (Stock & root) OPX faster! The menu navigation and the app startup is much faster then before! Great work!!

The best think that has happened to my old Galaxy S4 with a custom ROM. The phone had recently been very sluggish and underperforming to a point that I was looking for a free time to reinstall the OS. However, this thing has made my phone very snappy, the apps open quick and about 85% to 90% of the sluggish behavior has just gone away. Keep up the good job!

Superb! The effect is immediately felt. My phone is zippy, and lag is gone. I stumbled on this by accident but I'm so glad I did. My phone feels better than it did when it was new. I would pay for this app for sure.

Thank you developer for creating a brilliant app. One question though. I am rooted and run deathly adiutor on my tablet to increase CPU performance. Will this app interfere with deathly adiutor? I think not but I'm not sure. Edit: After researching around, this app will not interfere with deathly adiutor. In fact, it has no impact on the governor or i/o scheduler, which is totally separate. I did notice that before installing this app my tablet was using 1.3 GB or ram out of 1.7 GB. After boost I am averaging 1.1 GB. In addition, everything on my tablet loads faster (apps,settings,browser,etc) and no trouble with multitasking. I would highly recommend this app to anyone with a rooted phone.

Running on several rooted devices, all with official LineageOS installed. This is an excellent App. Set to run at each boot time, it does its job without fuss, it could not be easier to use. To those people who claim this App is fake or does not work etc.. take a little time to learn about the App, there's plenty of information available.

Definitely accelerates boot, bypassing some of the system processes that lag during OS startup. Beyond that, I'm not sure if it is helpful during normal use but must remain running in the background to function...

I am very satisfied with this app, but I want one of these features to keep the nand trimmed: a timer so that it will run in the background at specific intervals and times i.e everyday at 1am or every Sunday at 1 am or an activity that will do do the trim in the background for Tasker or similar. Thanks for this very helpful and simple app, it really helps keep the device fast

Works great for my tablet that's stuck on 5.1.1 and feeling left behind. Only thing I'd like to see is that it would stay running and trim or such on a schedule. Every hour or every screen on or something.

I am pleasantly surprised at how much smoother and faster this has made my aging Moto X feel. I already installed it on my wife's phone and watched it instantly make a big difference on her Galaxy S5 too! If you have root, this is well worth it!!

highly recommended for rooted device .. doesnt need rocket science to know what will fstrim with noatime & nodirtime does if someone well verse in linux command tune2fs .. speed wise showing improvement by 3x when sdmaid optimizing its sql db before and after effect ..speed wise more unimaginable if the device utilize ufs2.x storage type

I dont trust this app due to the developers saying it boosts your phones ssd... Smartphones dont have Solid State Drives. Complete different hardware. They have SOCs that are partitioned for you to have internal Flash Memory. So it may work for some people, but i still dont trust it since they dont understand how smartphone hardware works.

After i run this app it works so fast ram usage goes low but after i go for data managing in a charger usb cable that i plugged up in my phone it doesn't read anything even notifications of the (Connected As) Media/Audio Doesn't shows up or it didn't work cuz i trimmed my SDD?.but i'm a little bit happy cuz ur app helped me too.

Just installed this 5 minutes ago. Enabled it, and instantly noticed a big difference in load times for apps.. WHAT IS THIS SORCERY!??!! I have an Asus Zenfone 2E and stuff always loaded slowly, but now.. everything is speedy somehow. Don't know what in the world this dev did, but it's amazing!

This app nearly doubled my battery life. I don't know exactly why it did so much, but it may be because i have a lot of apps, but that's just a theory that i won't go to detail with here. I also wanna donate a little money, to support the dev(s). They did nearly double my battery life(normally 2-3 hours increased to 4-5 hours)

The effect can be felt instantly. Awesome app, worth trying. Made my Xperia L faster and much more responsive than stock. Also, doesn't remain in background hence no memory related issues either. Happiness! Thank you Dev. You're awesome. ????
