Package Buddy for Android
OK--I'm a freak about this. When I buy something online, I want to know where it is. i want to know when it's in Palo Alto, I want to know when it's in Des Moines, I want to know when it's Out For Delivery and I want to know when it's waiting for me to open my front door and see it. Almost every online merchant gives you a tracking number and that's fine...but it's not enough. With Package Buddy, you paste in the tracking number and you get the whole enchilada. The delivery date, the means of delivery, constantly updated status reports, and the map. Oh, the map. When you click the map in this app, you can see a dotted line that shows you where in the world your package is and where it has traveled, from point-to-point. It's kind of like those Indiana Jones movies where Indy is flying over the ocean to some exotic country and they show a cartoon plane with that red line that stops on all the little islands. I like to pretend that Des Moines and Nashville are little islands and Package Buddy is flying the plane.
Great app! Consolidates parcel tracking from different couriers I use. However, app doesn't seem to be able to retrieve info from Purolator. The website view also isn't displaying properly (but that's more the company's fault for not rendering properly on smaller screens, not you guys.)
Months and even weeks ago it would track shipments great. In the last few weeks it's been very slow to update, sometimes being days behind. Earlier this week it didn't even update and report the shipment existed until one of my shipments had actually been delivered. Uninstalled and replaced with an app that works much timelier!!
Clearly this is no longer maintained; hasn't been updated for several years. But it's still great: always accurate and very very easy to use! I like auto detection of carrier, and ability to hide carriers. And you can't beat the free price! Great tool!!
I paid for this for one reason. To use the cloud for multiple devices. I had a google virus and reformatted. Asked for my password via email as i forgot it. Never received it. Also reached out to developer, no response. DONT pay for it...crap app.
Used to be great.. I wanted to support the developer so I bought the pro version. But its pretty obvious that the developer has given up on this app. I think Google should start removing apps that haven't been updated and don't follow the new material design guidelines. I still use the app since I have a history with hundreds of packages that I wanna keep. But for a new user I would not recommend this app.
I've been a long time user of Package Buddy, but haven't really used in t he last year. I don't know what's changed, but it no longer reliably tracks packages, due to poor scraping of info. To the point that info doesn't show up until it's already arrived, the wrong info shows up, or it just never pulls info. If this was for obscure shippers, I'd understand. But this is for UPS, FedEx and USPS. When it works, it's fantastic. when it doesn't, it doesn't at all.
Don't worry getting this one unless you only track with UPS, FedEx, or USPS. Support for this has long left. As others say, don't buy the pro version, you won't get anything anymore. Some tracking services don't pull information correctly anymore because they have probably changes something since 2013 (when this was last updated). Example: DHL.
I upgraded to pro so it would automatically track packages (used to be free). All the settings are still greyed out even though it knows I have upgraded. Emailed the dev to no avail. Hasn't been updated since 2013. Basically flushed two bucks down the toilet.
Bought the Pro version early on, and it was working quite nicely. Now it still works for the most part, just that there's a problem with clearing up packages marked as "Delivered". But all in all, I'm still getting package updates, for what it's worth. Could really use some more tuning up though.
This app is outdated now look at the last update date! Most of its tracking are useless and not working any more. I used to love this app but it seem I need to find a new one.
When I open the app, it's blank and then my phone freezes. Been going on for a while now. Bummer, cuz I usually love this app. It's a great way to see all my packages in the same place at the same time.
First it was all sorts of inaccuracies, then it simply stopped working entirely. Don't waste your time or money on the Pro version! I'm uninstalling, even though I paid for it as Pro. What a frustrating mess.
The reason you use an app like this is for convenience. But it won't automatically track anymore so you have to manually track for yourself.. The ad box also still pops up, like it forgot that i have the pro version.
Beware of the Package Buddy Pro version. I purchased a license 2/2014 and was only able to install the app on a second device with help of their support. When I try to install the Pro version on a new phone now, the Pro license does not show as associated with my account. Tried to contact the developer "Partial Software" twice but got no response after waiting several days. Google cannot help with licensing issues, only the app developer can. Looks like they abandoned this app and/or support for it.
It worked until I upgraded to the paid version. After upgrading and registering online, it said wait for an email with further instructions. Almost a week later and still no email so I can't use the premium features that I paid for. The company also does not respond to emails to their customer support address. Wasted money.
DROID X2. I've had app since it first came out and I gave it 5 stars. Nothing has changed on my phone since then. Several recent updates have made it unusable on my phone unfortunately. DROID ULTRA. Since my last input I've purchased a new phone and I no longer have any issues.
I've been using this app since 2011 and it was awesome. Unfortunately it seems that the latest update was in 2013 and major carriers won't work anymore. I've tried emailing them but no response. So sad...
This app used to be working fine until the past 2 updates. Many time 2 different tracking number description mirror with the first item. It is very annoying. Otherwise I would have give 5 stars.
Update: Amazon has its own carrier and tracking. This sadly does NOT support that. Hope that changes. Used to be a Parcels can but it started having issues displaying delivery exceptions. This supports OnTrac and auto detects carriers. So far, I prefer this!
ABANDONED BY THE DEVELOPERS! The free version works OK, but I paid for the Pro version and could not register it. I tried contacting the developers, but they never responded to any of my messages through various channels, and by that time Google said I was not eligible for a refund, so I had to initiate a chargeback. The Pro version will not give you any added value without a login, so avoid it. The free version works OK, but I would not trust it with any personal info at this point, since the devs are at best MIA, at worst scammers.
Please fix every time I try to refresh it crashes and exits the app on my galaxy s4... I use to love this app not so much anymore please update and fix this bug
Only the free work version works! Don't waste your money on the pro upgrade! Unfortunately, people are right, I paid the price for the pro upgrade so that I could sink and save all my packages and information and not only that did they take my money I was never sent confirmation email and but more importantly I never got an answer to my first email today I have sent a second email after that I will report them to Google Play! Don't waste your money on any upgrades!
Not working any more, keeps showing UNABLE TO LOAD PACKAGE'S DETAILS although it is showing the details in the "package website" tab. Any solution ?!
EDIT FEB, 2015 - looks like this app has been abandoned by the developer. Crashes when trying to go to carrier website; often takes forever to load updates (if at all). Its a shame, this was once very good, now it's bug ridden.
This app used to work well enough and the developer even helped me out with an issue but when it stopped working a around the first of the year, the developer failed to respond to several emails. I gave up and looked for alternatives and saw that there are much better options now.
So I have been a long time user until today it started having an error with one particular package and realized my years of pro package buddy purchase and bug reports were useless. Partial software hasn't updated any of there apps on the play store since December of 2013 so its obvious to say no issues furthermore on this app will be fixed I think the developers have quit this venture. A great alternative now is an app called deliveries I've just switched to same features except for the auto detect carrier
I thought I would never need this app after I got Google Now, but it seems this is more useful than those Google Now cards. I can tell you the shortcomings of the Google Now, but I am here to review this app and not the other one. I like the part that this app integrates when you click a tracking number, it will open the app and detect which carrier is associated with, (except for a little bug on UPS tracking number). Then you can enter the description of your shipment. This also has a ton of shipping carrier, I doubt you would miss one. It also notifies any new information about the package. The sync feature would be a plus. Highly recommended app for those who want's to keep an eye on their shipment. By the way, I don't have any use for the PRO version, I just bought it to give thanks to the developer. So even if you don't like the the PRO version, at least donate if this app is helpful to you.
I have purchased the Pro version. It was working good before almost 90% of the listed couriers worked. But now, the couriers updated their website( Aramex, Korean Post, Saudi Post and others) and its now broken or no output..If you reported an error, theres no confirmation that it went thru(at least by email). Needs more rework! Seems the support abandoned the app
I use this app sparingly, but if I do have shipments coming in, this app makes it very easy to keep track of things. Best feature I discovered thus far is being able to add a memo (label) to a tracking number, no more second guessing!
I purchased the pro versus but all features are still locked. No support, don't waste your money these guys are thieves.
Was good a few years ago. Now most of the major carriers don't work properly and take a horrendous time to update
No issues at all even getting pro to work. Developer was easy to deal with and straight forward. Best tracking program I've used and won't use anything else. Haven't had any of the issues everyone else seems to be whining about... Signed up for cloud and worked perfect!
I really hate how this app looks. It is in desperate need of a Material overhaul. On the other hand, the sync is invaluable for changing ROMs, and it actually has options available, whereas Aftership is practically useless due to lack of literally any options. So devs, keep it up with functionality, but please, please, update your fugly app.
As stated by many others; has been abandoned and barely works, if at all. No longer refreshes properly, utterly useless. I've moved on, as the Dev apparently has. Do yourself a favor and don't install anything this Dev has put out.
It works, but it really looks out of date. I've moved over to AfterShip because the UI is super clean and is closer to Material Design. It has pretty much the same functionality as well. If Package Buddy could make its UI more attractive, then I would continue to use it. You would think that's a small thing if all else works, but presentation and Android as a whole has a big impact. You want a unified look from your home screen down to settings through the OS. You have to keep up with design & function.
Bought the pro because I ship a lot of packages, but this app won't do push notifications or track Purolator packages as stated in description! I have contacted the Dev multiple times and he has not responded once! Also, after the new update, there are ADS for PAID USERS. What the heck??? Do not pay for this! Honestly avoid this app and go for something that works like AfterShip.
I know it's probably not your fault because Singpost is a big ball of suck but I really hope you can make it work because sadly I have to use them to send out everything. Will change rating if it can be fixed somehow!
The free version is great, since used I track all packages using it. Granted it has some flaws (refresh issues, map and few others) but show me a better one and I'll try it. Pro is OK but few improvements

No longer working for my USPS packages, but when I click go to website, the info shows up there. It's also taking over 30 seconds to refresh. What happened, this app used to be flawless... Update: Purolator doesn't work either.
