projectM Music Visualizer Pro for Android
Not the most intuitive app. Works well with my PlayerPro music player - except it won't display album artwork - and my Headset Button app for controlling playback. I haven't picked my favourite theme yet, but there's almost 350 to pick from.
Can't control Spotify with on screen buttons. No option in settings to select Spotify as the app to control, only play music and Poweramp for specific apps and then "act as headphones control" option, when I have that option selected it still only controls the Samsung music app, even if I open Spotify and play some music THEN launch projectM, it will still only control the Samsung music app, it actually plays over top of the Spotify music. Using headphone controls in Spotify works without issue
Most of the visualizations are spectacular! Been a fan of milkdrop for many years and it's great to have it here now. One request, please add Daydream VR support! Then we could all die and go to heaven! :-P
When I try to create my own playlist/preset with the visualizations I like most. I can create an empty one. It tells me to copy and paste the ones I want into it. There is no copy option. If I go into my empty playlist it disappears so I can't paste anything into it.
It's perfect. I'd just like the option to rate presets easier. Second suggestion is a benchmark function which can delete all presets that lag like hell cause of bad hardware. And it would be nice to switch between a 5 and a 10 star/shroom rating. And last but not least, please let us select the presets to play as the Live Wallpaper. Thank you so much for milkdrop for Android and thank you for considering my ideas :)
The latest version says it supports Chromecast but I can't figure out how to use it. Feels like I've exhausted every possible GUI element. Chromecast works for other apps. Am I missing something?
Awesome app. Even though I don't know all the settings I know I love this app.well worth the price 5 times over. I rate 25 lsd.hate to be a pest but I'd rate 100 stars if I could .I'm hooked. Outstanding developers. Thank you so much.
Had potential but the developer has disappeared and hasn't updated since 2012. I REALLY wish someone could port this over to Samsung Gear VR. I would love to kick back and zone out to some great music and trippy visuals. Maybe someday...
I have this sideloaded on my Nvidia SHIELD tv and it works as a screensaver while music is playing. It's awesome. One problem though with the latest Shield update it now only plays the first preset and doesn't rotate to a new one every 30 seconds like I had it doing prior....
You get so much more with Pro. I really love the the visual themes. I would I highly recommend going for pro if you want to zone out of your world for a moment and just take your mind somewhere else. I'd also recommend for DJs and any other Party/club related jobs to use this as you don't need to spend loads of time making your own visualizers and can just get loads from this app immediately.
Couldn't fault the app, would be nice with some VR support, but this was developed well before VR was available to the masses. Perfect visualizer, skip the rest of them, this is the one you want. Pair it with winamp, and you're up for some nostalgia (depending on your age hahaha)
Been serching in the wrong stratosphere for you since the demise of winamp pc. Well worth the price to have the adds removed and help the devs continue to bring us these trippy wickeds
Music stops playing as soon as you cast when using Google Music. Resumes as soon as you stop casting. Pretty disappointing, as I was looking forward to enjoying my music to 4k visualizations
Best Music visualizer on a gadget... Then if that's not enough becomes the coolest live wallpaper on a gadget Underpriced get before the price goes up. Please update for GearVR or Google Cardboard.. Looks great on Android TV
Milkdrop on Chromecast... My life is complete. Also, had a stupid question and the developer answered within 5 minutes. I'm excited to see if the get VR support!
Ok revised review. Works great. Don't know why it wasn't working before but I recently factory reset my galaxy s7 edge and now the music stops when I turn off Bluetooth earpiece (doesn't switch audio back to phone speaker now). Thanks
Stop thinking. There's no need to browse through all the 'related apps' - this is the one you want, and the only one you'll need. Milkdrop goes back a long long way - the concept behind music visualisation is quite simple - well, simple to define as it pretty much just draws from the audio signal output. BPM, response to certain frequency ranges, those two elements alone provide limitless possibilities. LUCKILY - projectM takes what we all want and are looking for, developed it extremely well and have made it absolutely perfect. I prefer the modern take that the app has over using the old Winamp VST via third-party plugins to even get it into your main audio player in the first place! TOO LONG DIDNT READ;TLDR TRY IT RIGHT NOW THEN BUY IT THE NEXT DAY - I challenge you to not love it.
One of the best music visualizers out there, and at a great price and amazing functionality on Android. Literally just as good if not faster and more smooth than on Windows or Mac. Absolutely LOVE this app, I use it all the time playing music. The daydream feature is a definite plus, but it no longer works on my S7 Edge. Please fix this and I'll be back to 5 stars, I paid for this app for the daydream feature and now I can't use it!
Great visuals, does most of the things milk drop did in win amp with less fuss. On my pixel phone, using android 7.1.2 and PrM 4.22 it doesn't pick up the beat from poweramp although the poweramp controls work. Both beat detection and controls (external head set emulation) work with Rocket Player, which I already had.
Bought this several years ago, it's one of those rare apps that has just gotten better over time and Chromecast support is the icing on the cake. Great job!
Updating my review of this latest version that has Chromecast. I have a 65" Panasonic Plasma TV and a Chromecast attached to it. Still have my Nexus 6 from my previous review. While projectM Pro does indeed cast and I can see it on the TV, the video effects pause, stop, audio stops and starts. I've adjusted the Texture Size, Mesh X, Mesh Y settings to their lowest values. Changed Target FPS to lowest value. Disabled Fullscreen mode and disabled "Show Track Info" to see if doing this makes it works over my Chromecast (generation 1 BTW) onto my Panasonic TV. So great concept via Chomecast but the combination of my Chromecast, Phone, TV, whatever ... not really usable via Chromecast *for me* at this time.
Always loved Milkdrop and it's great to have it with my phone and Chromecast. Unfortunately it's kind of choppy on the cast side of things. I am on a Galaxy S5 with the original Chromecast.
Having been a user of milkdrop on winamp and xbmc for years, I started using this on my minix android box. It is just as good, which means it's great. The best visualization by far. Only one problem. My display is a monitor, which means no touchscreen or gestures. I can't figure out how to go to the next visualization because whatever key I press, I get the search box. I like to stay with a visualization till i get tired of it then switch to the next, and so on, so this is a big problem and is the reason I give only 3 stars. Solve this and it's 5 stars.
You need to leave the app open when using Chromecast or the audio stops and visuals remain. I am refunding this and will consider getting it again when the issue is fixed.
Love this app: it's a simple way to turn any screen into mesmerizing art, with or without music. Generally will play and cast whatever source you are using (I mostly stream). I would give it 5 stars except that there's no useful docs on the settings...AND it seems to stop randomly changing visualizations after a (fairly long) while (weeks of daily use), and the only fix is to reinstall. Not a big deal, but drove me nuts until I finally realized *I* hadn't done anything to make it stop. Too bad it's not supported any more, but still worth the $
One of the best graphic visualizers I have seen.. if not the best!! At times I go looking for alternatives to always come back to using this one
Great music visualizer! I've been using it for a while on my phone and tablet, and I'd love to see Chromebook support as well now that some Chromebooks have Android's Google Play Store enabled on them!
Now I just need a dedicates phone to cast to TV. Or am missing something? If I do anything with my phone I lose audio.
Stunning Visualizations! I'm constantly mesmerized! WORTH. EVERY. PENNY! This app always really shows off the screen and my friends always get lost in it! I originally saw this on a wall through a HD projector. My friend had it as an extension on his WinAmp. Ever since I was on a hunt to see if I could download it, but couldn't find anything that would work with Mac. I recently switched to the Samsung S7 Edge and saw this was now an app version of what I saw at my friend's in the google play store. Was excited, and it delivered. Very impressed! One suggestion for the developers, add a "like" type of button to the double-tapped activated control view. This way people can add the visualizations they like and they can be saved in a "favorites" visualizer playlist.
Wow, chromecast support?!? So cool, now I can MD anywhere! If this could be enabled for Google Cardboard support that would be awesome too!
This is a near necessity for any phone and glad I found it. I am laying back listening to music playing with the hypnotizing visuals. Worth the money and thanks for working on vr support. Very satisfied guys. Thanks.
Contact the app creator about some issues and got a fast informative polite reply which resolved all issues. Thanks Peter. ;)
However I can't figure out what the lock icon does and there doesn't seem to be any explanation of it.
So yeah it does not work with a note 5 and with headphones on it works great if the input is selected as the microphone tried all the options I could from the help section.
The upgrade was well worth it. I only had some minor concerns regarding the CC (Chromecast) support. The developer has only added the CC support so he still needs to work on it a bit. Some problems I ran into using the CC functionality include; lag and having to stay on the ProjectM app to hear sound (can't even turn off the screen). The reason the last item is such a big problem is because I'd like to multitask or turn off my screen. Anyway, keep up the good work SHI!
I would pay even more money for this app with one modification. Chromecast support is starting to hit so many other entertainment apps and would make this app 200% more versatile. I use it on my Chromecast via miracast, but the streaming isn't always HD. I also love being able to interact with the animation and you should add more settings for the touchscreen. I would love to make any party I'm at better by blowing their minds with their own TV.
I like the app. I paid for the app. I don't like getting kicked off my Bluetooth earpiece which i use to listen to music. I quit the visualizer and the music leaves my earpiece and starts coming out of my phone. Not cool at work given what I listen too.

Grate app the colors are like wow! Still having no response the settings they just don't do nothing

Ok it's definitely worth 5 stars, but I use it in conjunction with power amp and my Bluetooth headset which causes the music to switch to utilising the speaker on the phone. This also happens when setting the visualiser as wallpaper. So it doesn't really do what I paid for but hey, I'll definitely give 5
