About MUHAFIZ
Street harassment is a global problem. Nine out of ten women report street harassment as a major challenge in Afghanistan. Muhafiz is an app designed to address street harassment by connecting you to your friends and loved ones when you need help. Your reports will also let other women know where and when incidents are happening.
Muhafizin
User can add up to 5 contacts who will receive automated SMS messages that say, “Hi, I’m in trouble, please help!” The contact will also receive a map link of the user’s location.
Send SMS
User can send an automatic SMS to the contacts they add in Muhafizin. The app will send an automated SMS message alerting the contacts that the user is in trouble. The contacts will receive a link with a map to the user’s location.
Reporting
This feature allows the user to submit an anonymous report of the incident. The user will be asked to select a harassment type. The user can then submit a report by writing the story, sending a picture, sending a video, sending an audio file or simply send the incident location without additional report information by pressing the push button. The reports will be saved by Muhafiz to help identify areas with high levels of incidents in order to develop prevention activities. If the user is not connected to the internet at the time of reporting, it will automatically be sent when internet connectivity is restored.
Map
This feature allows the user to see the locations of all the incidents reported. The user can see the address, the harassment type, and the date the incident was reported by clicking on the marker. By using this feature users can also search addresses and check the recent reports received for that location.
Language settings
The user can select Dari, Pashto, or English language for the application.
Notifications settings
The user can set notifications to send an alert when entering an area with a high number of reported incidents.
Offline mode
The user can press the sync button located next to the settings button to submit a report that was created offline.
