About iVMControl

Connect to your Vmware® vCenter or to your ESX(i) server and take control of your Virtual Machines on the go!

The ideal application for Data Center Administrators who want to have a life outside of work too! :) It does not replace your vSphere® Client, but it comes really close to it.

iVMControl allows you to connect remotely and securely to your Virtualization Hypervisors and monitor the activity on the hosts and on the VMs. You will be able to check alarms, events and task status, see the status of every host and VM, the operating system installed, the power state, the status and version of your vmtools, check if any VM has raised an alarm and so on.

You can also remotely power on, power off or suspend virtual machines, enter or exit maintenance mode, reboot, disconnect or reconnect your ESX hosts.

You can see the graphs for the CPU usage, memory, NIC card usage, HDD usage for both VMs and Hosts, you can make/restore/manage snapshots of VMs.

In addition, we offer VMotion support and screenshots for VMs (more to come...)

A WiFi connection is recommended, but not required. You can also use VPN connections if you have a VPN client on your device.

For slower connections, you might want to tweak your connection timeout parameter (by default 30 sec).

** NOTE ** Please note that for ESXi *FREE*, Vmware decided to offer read-only access to the management APIs. This applies to all management applications, and is enforced by Vmware. What this means for iVMControl is that if you have a FREE ESXi, you will be able to use only the 'read-only' (monitoring) functions of iVMControl. If you have a paid license of ESXi (Essentials license is enough) this does not apply to you.

Console support for ESX/vCenter.

Requirements:
Please note that regardless of the connection point (ESX(i)/vCenter), the console connects *directly* to the ESX host where the VM you want to monitor resides. This implies you need to make sure that your ESX hosts have IP addresses that are *routable*, otherwise you will not be able to access the VNC console; you need to make sure that the port configured (in the range 5900-5999) is allowed through your firewall for each ESX device you want to connect to.

Furthermore, please make note of the fact that only the 8-character password is encrypted with the standard VNC client. All VNC client traffic is sent unencrypted across the network. If security is a concern in your organization, you need to be aware of this. You can disable your VNC terminal once you are done with the Console session (use Configure Console and disable VNC altogether).

VMWare Tools needs to be installed on each and every VM that is monitored through iVMControl's console connection. Check the Vmware knowledge base on other requirements:

Does not work with 6.0

No updates on this app since Feb 2014! Come on developer give this app a facelift and some ESXi 6 support! Best off using vmwpad which actually has ESXi 6 support.

Used to like this app, they're needing to fix this issue

D70%
by D####:

It shows connection error, but alos shows green connection status. Every attempt to check the VMs list fails with a popup error dialog.

T70%

I write an e-mail with this problem but nobody answered. Cannot connect to ESXi v.6.

Does not work with 6 :(

Doesn't work with vSphere 6.

It has worked and continues to work well. I would love it if development of the app continues and fixes/improvements happen.

**** app apears to have been abandoned by the dev ***** Unfortunately I missed the refund window. Live console has no mouse control, app crashed twice so far in the first few minutes of use. Only rely on this app if you dislike your job (and want to get fired because it failed on you!)

Just keep getting told it's a restricted version on every function.

Purchased it but keeps telling me the application is not licensed. What a joke

great android vmware client, I like the updated UI and the improved speed. Still waiting for better motion functionality.

The app is working fine also with vshere5. But I am still missing the cluster view, so only 4 stars.

R70%
by R####:

Great work on v2. The improved search functionality is really makes my life easier. The support for multiple connections is sweet. One request of mine: please work on the alerts/notifications :-) I dig the updated UI, but add something in there to help me find the details on alerts.

Nice app to view system information, but there is one very important bug. :( I have options to suspend, power on/off and restart server, but it isn't working. From PC i can do it, but here i'we get error - RestrictedVersion.

I like the interface for this app - its power yet simple & intuitive. You can check on the state of all the hosts, virtual machines right down to the individual tasks in your datacenter/network. Color coded icons quickly inform you whether a component needs attention. Maybe an addition could be a service that runs in the background and informs you when a component needs rebooting or other manual intervention

Great app

Currently using on LG VM670 (Optimus V). V2 brings further clarity to host and VM grouping. UI is clean and responsive. Efficient interface is easy to learn, while providing comprehensive visibility of VM states. The wealth of features make maintenance a breeze. Having such a capable application on the phone allows my life much-needed flexibility. Doesn't drain battery much. Looking forward to next version - consider taking advantage of extra space offered by tablets.

I was so hoping that it had the ability to remote view my consoles but alas. Maybe in a future update??

I bought this app and love everything about it. There was an issue with exiting a host out of maintenance mode but was quickly resolved and fixed. This is a good app to control your vSphere environment.

Absolutely marvellous application. Incredibly useful and clean UI. Worth the price without a doubt.

Nothing works in esxi 5.0. It use to, but no more... All actions return "restrictedversion" I'm running enterprise with unlimited cpu.

Rocks

Y70%

This app is amazing. It literally allows full control of an ESXi or vCenter host. It is very well executed, connects quickly, and even caches some data so it runs fast. Well done! :-)

Y70%

I use this software when I need to run to our 2nd datacenter to do any maintenance or work (such as installing 10Gbps cards etc). I can wait to put the machines into maintenance mode until I'm there, connecting to our wireless on my phone, firing up the VPN client and this utility to connect to our vCenter Server. It's a *lot* easier than lugging the old laptop around

This has been a great arsenal in my mobile toolbox, whether I'm using it on my Note 3 or my Nexus 10. I run a medium-size server/VM company, and this combined with an SSH app, my WHMCS app, and my Zabbix app makes me a walking support center. Am using this on vCenter 5.5 to control around 1,200 VMs, and as one person noted, this is great to login just before I arrive at the data center and put a node into maintenance mode just before I arrive, allowing it to vMotion everything off and be ready for me to work on when I arrive.

Y70%
by Y####:

This app is nice, but it develops really slow, while there is so much work to do on the interface and features. Today we had another "Various bugfixes"-update... Just tell us what was fixed!?

I just started using android and I have to admit that I'm blown-away by the quality of apps developed for sys-admins like this one. Keep it up!

Y70%

Aersome app. Would be good if default behaviour under Connect was to connect rather than edit host details. The later is rarely required

Y70%

Thanks for this app. Been a great time saver for quick and dirty administration.

R70%

App has worked well with my ESXi5 environment with vCenter. I feel that it does lack some features, but is great for basic administration!

Gives an error about read only free version even though I am on a licensed copy. I am sick of all of this buggy copy protection in apps that I paid for.

I70%

This app works great. I wish it had caching as it takes a long time to load the devices every time you click in to a page. Also, when I select VMotion while connected to our vSphere server the names of the ESX servers are shown as com.projecteureka.android.whatever. The names are so long that they get cut off and there's no way to tell what server you are selecting. Overall definitely worth the price.

Awesome app, but caching would be nice!

Had a big problem with the program but the dev worked with me and got it fixed in an update. Now it works perfectly!!! Great app, more features than any app on the market

Z70%
by Z####:

Amazing app. Would be better if it came with VMConsole integrated. Needs to download the info all at the one time instead of going into each individual tab

Y70%
by Y####:

This desperately needs to cache the data about the hosts and VMs. It is so tiresome going through menus and waiting it to load ALL of the host's info.

Y70%

I've been looking for something to remotely control my VMWare. I tried several Apps, but this one beats all of them. It supports large installations, works perfect on my Samsung phone and a tablet. In a way it is even better than the iPhone app from the same company. Amazing features: Real-time events, tasks, alerts, ability to remotely control power of VMs and hosts, charting of CPU, memory, hdd, and net usage. You can connect to VM from the phone via Remote Desktop!! Update: Inventory Navigator!!
