About Shake ICE
Now you can rest assured that you can call for help instantly and easily in case you find yourself in an emergency. All you need to do is shake your smartphone or tablet for a few seconds and Shake ICE will send an SMS (text) message to all your emergency contacts, and call your primary contact instantly.
Not only that but if you have Location ON, the app will also send your current location via SMS. To send your current street address, just be sure to be connected to the Internet along with turning Location ON.
Unlike some other similar apps in the market, Shake ICE will not give false alarms i.e. "crying wolf". (In the rare event that this happens, please let us know immediately. We will correct the problem immediately and give you an update.)
You need not open Shake ICE for it to work. Shake ICE will run in the background undetected. Anytime you need to alert your contacts simply wave your phone or tablet, and the app will do the rest.
On the main screen you can see the following -
1. Your current location (updated once every minute) on a map indicated by a "pin".
2. Your street address (approximate, as reported by Google) if you have turned Location on and are also connected to the Internet, or just your geolocation in latitude and longitude if you have turned Location on but are not connected to the Internet.
Setting up the app
Step 1 - Select the persons (contacts) you would like to alert in case of an emergency.
You may add as many contacts as you wish.
Step 2 - Select any one contact to be your primary contact. This contact will receive a phone call as well as receiving the alert SMS text. This step is optional. If no contact is marked as primary, then no call will be placed.
Step 3 - Test the set up. You might want to select just one contact to test. Shake your
device as vigorously as possible, in wide sweeps for about 3-4 seconds (or until the device vibrates).
The app will send two SMSs to the contact(s) you selected in Step 1:
1) an SMS with an alert message, and
2) an SMS with your approximate location.
Step 4 - Close the app and use the device as usual.
If Steps 1 and 2 were
completed correctly, you have finished setting up the app. The app will now run in
the background for as long as the device is on.
Note -
1. Shake ICE app will send your location only if you have enabled Location via settings. If you have enabled Location, but are not connected to the Internet,
then the app will send the your Geo location (i.e. latitude and longitude of your location) only.
If you are also connected to the Internet, then the app will send your
street address instead.
2. Shake ICE will show your street address only as reported by Google. The street address will be more accurate in some areas than in others, and the app has no control over this.
Launch the app to see your current location.
If you are in an emergency situation and want to alert
your emergency contacts, just shake your phone or tablet as you did in Step 2.
Contacting Emergency Services
The app IS NOT a substitute for the regular means of contacting emergency services such as a fixed-line or a mobile (cell) phone. Even if your mobile device and the app have connectivity to the cellular network, the app has neither any control over whether the alerts will be sent in real-time, nor whether the alerts will be received and/or responded to by any recipient promptly. If you are in danger, have met with an accident or are the victim of a crime please inform the authorities immediately.
DO NOT rely solely on the app in these situations.
Please rate the app and leave your comments and suggestions on how we could give you a great user experience and your time's worth.
STAY SAFE.
