Preschool Monkey is an app that will help get your preschool or kindergarten child ready for school. There are many fundamentals that need to be mastered in order for children to be ready for kindergarten -- Preschool Monkey helps with these fundamentals.

I’m currently in the process of trying to teach my own 4- and 6-year-old children to read. I started Preschool Monkey to help our family with this task.

As a parent trying to teach my children to read, I have learned something very important. Games, alone, will not teach your child to read. Honestly, it comes down to parents practicing letters, letter sounds, and various sight words with their children.

This is where Preschool Monkey comes in.

*** Get Busy ***

Start your child off in his/her reading adventures by learning letter sounds. This establishes very important skills in letter recognition and letter phonics.

Once your child has mastered letter skills, he/she is able to move into recognizing sight words. Learning sight words is an important skill because language is filled with exceptions and inconsistencies.

I’m excited to say, that using Preschool Monkey, you can create your very own sight word list as your child’s skills change! I've included the ability to add, remove, change, and record your own sight words! That way, you can easily remove the words that your child has mastered and you can add in new words that they’re just starting to learn! My kids absolutely *love* recording their own voices for their sight words to practice. It's a lot of fun for them.

Preschool Monkey is intended for kids of all ages, but is directed towards those who are starting to learn letter and word recognition.

*** Permissions ***
Since I know app permissions are a concern, here's a rundown of what Preschool Monkey is requesting and why I need it:

RECORD_AUDIO: Necessary so that you can record your own sight words in your own voice.
WRITE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE: Necessary so that you can save those sight words.
INTERNET: Used to display a dynamically-loaded help page - and that's all.
