Precision Strobe Tuner for Android
Quick and accurate.
Works very well.in pro version has fender Rhodes piano stretch tuning inbuilt.easy to use and calibrate. Can see if flat or sharp by frequency pointed at if strobe is fast which is handy.well worth buying Small problem when a default setting is used when tablet screen saver comes on. When tablet touched app looses the custom setting and you have to reload the custom setting again. Perfect software apart from that.
Running this on a G'zOne Commando 4g. Only app I could find that supports the octave stretching needed for piano tuning. The inharmonicity measure mode took me awhile to figure out how to both tune the piano above and below the temperament octave and calibrate the curve but after much trial and error, I was able to make it work. Very happy with the results so far. Recommend an external Mic to pick up the bass notes.
If you would like to attempt to tune a piano with an Android device, then this is the app to use. Inharmonicity calibrations are made by measurements of the fundamental tone and the 2nd partial. The app allows saving 5 custom stretch tables for individual instruments. The "strobe" is easy to read, and appears to be a good combination of sensitivity and averaging. The degree of accuracy may depend on your device, so fortunately a demo version is available. Considering what a dedicated tuning instrument with custom software of this caliber would cost, $5 is a steal. Note: On my phone, the app would not defeat the system display sleep, so it was necessary to set it to 30 minutes so as not to be interrupted during tuning.

AS a retired piano tuner of 30 years experience, I can recommend this app completely. It identifies note names, it is easy to see where the pointers are on the dial, and it has two built-in tuning curves. I t also lets you save a tuning profile for a specific piano. Robert Walshe, Ruidoso, NM
