About ON 3D-CameraMeasure
ON 3D-CameraMeasure is a powerful and advance remote measuring tool on android. It performs measurements in any direction and plane in 3D space.
There are no constrains on the camera direction or position relative to the measured object. Unlike 2D-CameraMeasure, the reference object/measured object plane not necessary to be parallel to the camera plane. This make ON 3D more powerful and flexible to measure anything at anywhere. It can be used as or even replace ruler and measuring tape in many situation where the traditional measuring method is not enough or difficult to apply.
ON 3D-CameraMeasure is extra useful especially if you want to measure
1) Large object where simple ruler and measuring tape are not enough or difficult to apply. For example, angle of roof, area of a swimming pool, diameter of a roundabout, dimension of a football field, height of a wall, dimension of a room, distance from one side to another, etc.
2) Objects that are difficult or impossible to access. For example, outer dimension of a building, windows on a high wall, screen size in a cinema, object mounted on ceiling, area of solar panel on a roof, etc.
It lets you measure anything in the fastest and easiest way as long as there is any rectangular object as reference.
ON 3D-CameraMeasure performs non-contact measurement by using the device's camera and any rectangular object with known size as reference. You can use the predefined common objects such as credit card, A3 paper and A4 paper which is included in the application, or use your own custom object as reference.
Using ON-3D is very intuitive and easy, as the operational step below:
Place the reference object on the same plane as measured object --> Capture picture with camera --> Calibrate --> Measure in different modes

ACCURACY:
The accuracy of this apps is highly depends on how well the user move the points to aligned with object boundaries when doing calibration or measuring. Please be noted that small error in calibration might causes large inaccurate in measurements. In order to achieve high accuracy, please try to use largest possible reference object. For example, please do not use A4 paper as reference object if you have A3 paper. From so many experiment we have done so far, the average accuracy is lie between (+)(-)2.5%.

Pretty good. No problems so far. Easy to use but a little fiddly using calibration. Needs improvement but great start. Keep up the good work! Ignore the haters.

I noticed following problems (1) Not accurate. I used a test as a cooler with Letter size paper as calibration object, when I measured all four sides there was a significant difference error, one side was 102.22 cm and the opposite side was 138.71 cm (2) Calibrating for credit card is difficult since it has rounded corners and the zoom circle is not sufficient to set accurate corner and the two edges are not fully in view. Maybe there should be a zoom mode which shows the picture zoomed in full screen and the crosshair lines extend in all four directions and represents the currently selected point. (3) if one of the point (calibration or measurement point) is obstructed by the zoom circle then there is no way to select it again. (4) Startup time is a long. (5) Landscape mode only, need to be able to work in portrait mode too. (6) App claims to be able to measure in any plane in 3D space, which doesn't seem to be true. As far as I see, it can measure in only the plane of the reference object only.

I was trying to use it to measure assess boiler rooms so that I could know the service entries. The main problem is found was that I couldn't get a measurement on different planes. I know it mentions this in the tutorials but if I could have set the boundaries of the plane ie the boiler room then surely a measurement could be taken. This app would have worked for me otherwise. On top this the screen is only landscape and screen options obscure the measuring.

Great GUI .. easy to use . But not accurate and evey thing must be flat to work correctly . 1 mm could change all measurements to grate values

Just downloaded 5 measuring apps that didn't do what I was looking for. This is the first app that makes sense, have a good manual, and actually measures something. My only concern, is that I will have to carry a credit card as a reference every time I want to measure something. But, it's a small price to pay for such a useful app.

I've found that this app is more accurate the larger the area you use to calibrate. It seems to not like smaller end planes of things on an angle. Also, I don't seem to be able to delete a measurement and the Help doesn't explain how.

I just tried this with two rectangular items and the error is quite a lot. Something I know measures about 18" x40" came out with a 1" difference in height, and a large poster had a 3" difference in length and 6" difference in height! This with 8-1/2" x11" paper as reference.

This app needs improvement! ISSUES : ● #1 MEASUREMENT INPUT; Feet should not be in decimal format, rather in (CSV) FEET,INCHES,SIXTEENTHS. ● #2; CALIBRATE MODE; Magnifier window may hide the zoom point, losing control of other zoom points if also hidden. Stays locked on last hidden zoom point. Zoom point also is jumping around,may be my tablet so I will try a pen.
