CaroO Pro (Dashcam & OBD)

Love the app and have had very few problems with it. It's useful to monitor engine codes, driving styles, and the idiots on the road around you. The problems are clarity of image and exposure. I have difficulty reading license plates (auto focus issue? Not sure what the difference is with the 3 auto focus settings) when reviewing images to report carpool violators and the manual adjustment for tint is impractical in changing conditions. When it's cloudy and there is a sun break the image ends up washed out badly and I don't think this adjustment should be messed with while driving. Would buy again

I do like the video capability and features of the app. I have an issue with the OBD2 connection and the fact that when I sent the log information in via the app, the email was bounced back. If I connect the app to the OBD2, as soon as the app boots into the video screen the engine dies.

NOTE:NOT SUPPORTED ON ANDROID 8.0 (9th MARCH 2018) - CURRENTLY RATED 3 STARS FROM 5 TILL SUPPORTED!!! Very good. Excellent all rounder, saves having a dash cam app and OBDLink running at same time. Only issues is white balance whilst recording is either non-existent or extremely slow. I'd also like a widget with even just 2 buttons, one to return to app and another to protect recording, the floating button is to small to safely use. If it had a parking mode also, THAT would make it a top 3 app. Awesome work! Highly recommended, and don't skimp out and buy the pro version!

I cannot seem to be able to disable event detection sensativity, it is set very low but every time I hit even a small bump in the road it records emergency video also the GPS does not match the recording if I'm stopped it shows the vehicle moving several seconds before it actually starts.

I've had this for over a year. It is a solid app, doing what it says on the box although it is a little flakey when confronted with cheap Bluetooth ODB II devices. Sadly, it don't work no more. It and Android O (8.0) don't get along.

Works great after tweaking the settings a little. E.g. focus set to infinity, after finding the AF1 and AF2 getting confused when raining. Great app.

Not happy now. Says it's recording but when I go to find files for the previous day, it hasn't actually started to record anything for a full hour after starting my drive. Very disappointing. When it does record, the device has to be kept cool or the video capture will glitch and becomes worse as it gets hotter. I have to keep my air conditioning vents pointed directly at it but then making sure you remove the device from the dash and stow it out of the sun when not in use. When used with an OBD2 device, turbocharger diagnostics do not seem to be available which is a real disappointment. Deleting video files can take a very long time. But sometimes the files can become locked and will not delete without plugging it into a PC. This can result in the device's SD card filling up and not allowing CaroO to record any more. Since updating to nougat, text response areas such as "cancel" or "ok" have become garbled.

I just spent £200 to have halfords fit a Nextbase 512GW which makes me an IDIOT because apart from a bit better quality video, and recording in quicktime, Caroo does everything and more that the Nextbase pain in the arse does. My phone goes in a cradle above the dash, in a Doblo it is not in the way, it tells me in BIG NUMBERS how fast I am going and with the OBD bluetooth pretty much anything I want to know about the engine. The Nextbase is a royal pain in the arse to clip in and out every time I go out, can't leave it in the car, it has to be jammed right up behind the rear view mirror and I can't even use its 'speed' function because the law says it has to be out the way when driving. I am an IDIOT. What a waste of money. I might try the Nextbase stuck on the dash, downside up, with the screen set to just show speed but for all the bells and whistles promised by the Nextbase... Save your money, get an old android phone and use Caroo..P.S. samsung galaxy S lll mini with a big sd card gives me upto hours continual record time. Trip to bonnie Scotland... Anyone who has problems with it.. It might be an idea to list your phone type so the developer can see it and work a fix :

App fails recording after 5min of video. Something is wrong with the way the can saves to the filesystem on a OnePlus 2.

Using it since acquiring obd dongle it gives simple info i want from the cars ecu...yet please allow wi-fi as obd connector too it would be most welcome thanks..

need ability to change parameters for things like water temp...it warns me for overheating in both my cars at optimal temp

Worked fine until last week. Galax Note4. It will no longer record video

Great app, would have given 5 stars if it supported OBD-11 wifi version which mine is. Please add support for the WiFi OBD-11 devices.

Works well, but a power hog, even in power saving mode. My Note4 gets pretty hot as well.

Works perfectly, does need some tweaks to justify the expensive price tag. I tried the free version first & liked it's reliability. So I bought the full/pro version. No difference at all exept there are no more limitations on use. Would be nice to be able to change colour of the HUD. The ability to remove/ replace unwanted indicators would also be nice. It also needs an adjustment slider for tweaking with the GPS speedo. Seems to be out by between 2 & up to 5 mph. 5 stars if cheaper or had these fixes.

This is a very well made app. It has a lot of functional settings and features. One thing I would like to ask. I used to be able to set normal recording times to 20 mins. Now it only has settings for a few minutes. I just purchased the pro version.

I've tried most dashcam apps out there, and this by far the most reliable. This alone was the deciding factor for me, and this is the only dashcam app I've kept. Furthermore, it is also very feature-rich (I was originally skeptical about the OBD functionality but, after using it, I actually like it!). I wish the UI followed Android UX guidelines, but it isn't ugly by any measure. A minor wishlist item is hidden intents to start and stop recording (so one can integrate with Tasker et al). Well done!

This app works great about 75% of the time. About 25% of the time it causes my phone to overheat and shut down apps or turn off the battery charging.

Well worth the pro price tag, even if you use an older model phone dedicated. I use my Nexus 6P with no issues. Charges fine during use with the car adaptor. The cheap eBay OBD connector works great and gives a tonne of info from my car to help keep my driving in the "Green" eco mode. Good job Dev.

I purchased the pro version based on the reviews and I think it is a great app; however, it is heavy on processing power. On to of that, it cuts the use of days off. When I want to use Google voice search, but it doesn't connect while the app is running.

Tried clearing data and cache, reinstalling. App will not launch, waste of money. Samsung S5 running AOPK 4.4.4

CaroO Pro crash when you I use Whatsapp And it would be great if we could automatic upload movies to a cloud service as drive…. With pleasure, I could give a 5 star just some small improvement would be appreciated

The only option I can ask for after a day of use is: Give the option to put the video in my gallery. It's just easier to access than keeping it in this app. It would also let me back up all the files to my Dropbox/GDrive or whatever.

work good for a dash cam app on the phone it's good. the only things I would recommend is if you could incorporate an auto brightens instead of manual and soon in on object during playback on the video

First app I've ever bought on Google Play. My Sony Xperia Z1 was going spare so it's the perfect dash cam now.

Not only does it serve as an amazing dashcam, it provides tons of real time information about the performance of your car. Love this app!

It just won't start recording automatically. I tried all the options with OBD and GPS.

I like the app but auto start function does not work with my Lenovo P70 also can you start grouping the trip report by days or by defined period this will help to check the trip wise fuel cost etc without resetting the data before the start of the trip

Provide valuable info. Hoping to get an HUD version that flips the image, to reflect on windshield.

Good App, but doesn't support WiFi OBD dongles. Appreciate if that can be incorporated at the earliest.
