This application lets you monitor the currently used bandwidth of all your network devices (mobile, wifi) by displaying the incoming and/or outgoing traffic in the notification area (status bar at the top).
Furthermore, it counts all your traffic and stores the information on your phone, so that you're able to see how much data you have transferred today, this month and in total. It allows you to set alarms for daily/monthly/total traffic. Especially useful if you're on a plan with a traffic limit.
On devices running Froyo (2.2) or later builds it will display the traffic used by individial applications.
The application is free. It supports the developer by showing advertisements, but only while the application is in the foreground. So if you keep the app closed or in the background you will see the bandwidth used notifications but no ads!
This application requires 3 explicit permissions:
- ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE: to detect if network devices are up and for advertisements
- INTERNET: for advertisements and to allow remote logging of application errors (this can be disabled)
- RECEIVE_BOOT_COMPLETED: So that the notifications and counting of traffic can be automatically started after your phone starts (this can be disabled)
Additionally, the current Android API requires 3 implicit permissions: READ_EXTERNAL_STORAGE, READ_PHONE_STATE and WRITE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE

It consumes too much battery even mobile data is disabled and also not shows data used by all other apps but only shows data used by itself. Tested only on 2G network. Fix it then 5stars. Galaxy Note2.

Love that I can have two blocks showing up and down separately, but we need to find a way to get rid of the two blocks in the pulldown pane..or at least have them be actively showing their respective throughput.

This app is awesome and haven't seen another that does this. YES, it does drain your battery since this thing is running constantly. My display used about 43% and this used almost half of that (19%) at the end of the day. Good to keep on hand when you need it, but you should probably not leave this on 24/7. Giving 4 stars because beside the battery issue (granted its annoying) this app is very helpful, does what no other app out there does and probably shouldn't be punished for failing to perform the miracle of running CONSTANTLY (WITHOUT getting kicked out of memory) and using little to no battery us spoiled freeloaders are expecting.

I haven't found another app that clearly shows real time network usage in the status bar. Fortunately, I don't need to, because this app does its job very well. And no battery draining problems on my phone.

hi im Vahid again .. yesterday i said this app is very good but now i have a problem.its very heavy in bg (about 15mg) and keep my phone (gs2) awake and drain my battery fastly ! so i should stop measuring when i dont use internet... plz solve this jonas ...

Excellent. I use it in Wi-Fi mode only, with Airplane mode on and Sync off with 1 second update intervals for the notification bar and the battery drain is quite low. The app is very well designed. It uses only the resources necessary to do its job. It will measure all traffic, therefore, if you rarely notice long states of inactivity when you are not downloading or loading a web page then know that other processes are using bandwidth.
