Pogoplug for Android
Been using Pogoplug to store photos for about 6 year's. They have recently had a massive service failure and have lost ALL of my files. All gone, completely unrecoverable and they don't seem the least bit sorry. Utter rubbish.
I only gave it 4 Stars because of it's unreliability. Often times the system will go down and stay down for a long time. Customer support is a nightmare no response for inquiries. But I have to say, when it works, it's perfect for my needs.
Upon purchasing my Toshiba Canivo portable hard drive w/ onboard pogoplug software, I bought the "lifetime" pogoplug license for $29.95 in March 2015. It worked fine for some months, then pogoplug changed its business model. Now, the software upgrade doesn't recognize my license, and wants me to pay annually for cloud access to my hard drive. This appears to be a bait and switch or a breach of the original user agreement. All should beware of this product and this company.
Trying to use this with my pogoplug enabled NAS. But it says no files found when accessing the drive. Used to work but new app version looks to have bug. Big problem!
Removed the ability to backup to your own drive and forced you to use their free cloud. Now it's no longer free. You can still use it to browse your drive. So the abilities touted on the app page don't work.
Used to be great. Have all my music and photos to attached hard drive and viewed over PS3. Now however the hardware won't even connect despite CE saying it's only cloud storage that's closing down.
Wanted to transfer my files from cloud pogo to my local pogodrive because the cloud will be deleted. but there's no copy or move option. What a waste.
It is a pain to upload from my phone. I wish it offered a option where I could lock a folder from being seen by others in my home who also have access to the service. I wish there was a button to stop the audio player instead of having to load the page over to turn it off. There should be a way to download a complete folder at one time instead of individual files in the folder. There should be a button to tell pogo to not overwrite a already loaded file and just skip to the next one when a upload fails
I have a free lifetime subscription to pogoplug. Now that they shutdown clourstor I can no longer access my pogolug device from a webpage or this app. Their website makes it sound as if I should not be effected as my info is on my physical drives but thus not working. I sent in an email to support team and they just closed my ticket wit no response. Also the new software they have for remote access doesn't support linux which I use. Sorry pogoplug but you have really fail on this transition and your support team blows. Enjoy your 1 star, you have certainly earned it.
Your most recent update made this program unusable. I have an account I used for years to upload & download from my external hard drive to my tablet. Now I cannot use it. I open the app to find some "page" that takes me nowhere!
This app worked fine until recently. Now I get no destination available when I try to access my photos. I can only do this by logging on with my phone's web browser. This kind of makes the app a total waste. Until this is fixed, a 1 star is all I can give. I'd give it 0 stars if possible because right now all this is doing is the job of an electronic paperweight.
Tagged some folders on my laptop with the pogoplug PC companion app, but the pictures never load from my phone. Continually refreshed and tried multiple folders, but it always comes back with "no files found". Also, can't auto backup to connected PC, can only auto backup to their cloud storage? That's a major oversight. Why use their limited cloud storage when Flickr fives you 1TB for free....and their app actually works. Disappointed.
I bought the pro version. Box says "free lifetime service; no fees; no limits." Once activated, I noticed "30 day trial." Company wants $29.95 every year to continue. I e-mailed support. No reply. But now my opinion's changed. I declined cloud service and now have free use of the Pro to manage USB storage, and files are shared wirelessly. Wonderful device.
I liked the pogoplug devices. You need one of their devices to use this app really. They are good value and have done a reasonable job. The cessation of a cloud service has been very disappointing, and the notice given was short. It would be nice to see the hardware evolve a little more now, an updated device to get back to your roots would be well received.
I know some people knock CloudEngines for how it offers premium services instead of giving it all away for free, but consider what you get for what you pay, and any reasonable person will agree that there is some serious value packed into this little device and app. For approximately 20USD, you can get a PogoPlug device on Amazon, connect it to the internet, and you have essentially free cloud storage, limited only by the size of the drives you attach! The extra services are very inexpensive as well.
There's a problem that it's preventing us to select the upload destination. It was working great a few weeks ago. Now, It keeps showing up a hard drive we've selected in from past. We can still access the files with the app but can't automatically back up anymore. Android 6.0.1 Samsung Galaxy Notes. Obviously, as it had be said. You're pretty much on your own here when it comes to tech support. I still believe this is a fantastic system.
May have to reload several times to get to work. Cannot fast forward my movies cannot list files the way I would like. It needs some improvement. Great idea. Needs to be faster. I can watch movies and video from Youtube without delay I should be able to with this app. I've put all of my DVD movies on my 2 TB USB drive and can access all my movies on my phone or tablet. Operates better on my phone then my tablet not sure why. Wi-Fi is on the same system.
Used to be good, now can't share folders with friends and family!!! My Pogoplug device may be available using my laptop, tablet or phone, you just don't know when it will be? The drive is offline without any reason and support is nowhere to be found!!! Looking at other alternatives to share my folders (other cloud drives...)
This used to be great. Purchased V4 as well as remote 2016 pro. The V4 has to be rebooted at least once a week and takes 1/2 day to recover. The Remote 2016 pro is the worst, it has disappeared at least twice and it takes service people weeks if not months to fix, it isn't working now for at least a month. Let the buyer beware, I just count this as a loss and tell everyone I know that you should avoid this company and it's products.
Pogoplug device as well as pogoplug app should have the feature to work on local network without internet. And one thing, the pogoplug team never responds to the feedback or complain. I don't know what type of customer care they have.
UPDATED: I downloaded an app called Synchronize Ultimate from the Play Store, and bought a subscription to Dropbox. I am using this app to transfer files from Pogoplug to Dropbox. I am leaving my tablet on day and night on until files are transferred. Most of my files seem to be copied. This is the only viable solution I found. The scumbags at Pogoplug are not replying to any of my emails. Pogoplug decided to close its doors and give its users less week to copy hundreds of GBs of photos and files locally to their computer, without providing an alternative way to transfer files to another cloud service directly from cloud to cloud. Scumbags!
What's going on here? From the beginning is was to be free to access your files remotely ...Now we have to pay to access our files at home ? When this option was always free ? Is my pogoplug unit useless now without paying??? Feel very scammed and pissed from this company..... please go back to the old pogo plug company loyalty .. this company is going down hill fast...
Rubbish. The App doesn't work. I have the software installed on my laptop with 3 folders shared. I Installed the app on my Android tablet. When using the tablet I can see the folders but it says no files found. However when logging in via the Pogoplug website I can see all the folders and files no problem...so must be the app that has issues I guess.
The app used to backup the pictures on my phone. Now when I open the app it shows me a link to their product page which none of them is free. When I continue it says there are no pictures in my backup. I logged in to their web interface and there are no pictures neither. Although I still have my pictures on my current phone but backup of my pictures on my old phone are gone.
If you value your data, do not use this app or this service. I used their cloud service because of the low cost and had so many problems over the years. Recently, I discovered that the data I saw backed up onto their servers was not actually all there! They lost a lot of my data! They had to reimburse one year of my cloud subscription (frankly not enough). Fortunately I had redundant backups as everyone should, but using this service is not worth the risk. Find somewhere else to store your data. Beware!
Very impressed with this app so far. Huge peace of mind knowing that memories are backed up in case of any accident with the phone
Have used Pogoplug for a few years with no problems. A couple of days ago I logged into the app... EVERY file is gone... every last one, for no apparent reason. WTF is going on?
I had years and years of photos, music and work documents stored in the unlimited Pogoplug "cloud". 99 GIG worth and now they are all gone. My correspondence with their "support" ended with them saying there's nothing they can do, but they can refund my money I have spent for the year. Will that refund get me my unreplaceable files back? NO!!! I would NEVER TRUST this service with anything valuable. If you do use this service make sure you are ok with losing whatever you upload to their cloud service!!!!!
Update: No longer able to find any data on storage device. App shows device is online, but empty. Data is visible through web interface, but not through this app. No response when I've reached out for assistance. Running app on Galaxy Note 4 with Android 5.1.1. In general, Pogoplug support for their personal cloud devices is deteriorating badly.
I tried to get help from them to recover my data and they were very unresponsive. They could not give me a straight answer and kept giving me the runaround. Then they completely stopped responding to my emails. They ended up telling me to download all my stuff. This is exactly what I was trying to do but it's not there anymore!
Do not use this cloud lost most of my file, pictures from 2014 to older, law suit is about to be handed to them soon
I installed a few years back and thought it was backing up my photos. Recently went to view and they are gone. Sent email and support says they have an issue and you should back up again. BUT THEY ARE GONE IDIOTS! I will not rely on Pogoplug ever.
I have been using this device for years and as soon as I walk in the house, it starts backing up my photos, I mean how great is that. I have every photo stored on a HDD that I have ever taken with any phone I have ever had. I also backup all of my family's phones photos too. Once backed up, delete photos to save space on your phones memory.
The service seems getting worse while they r now fee based. It was better during pogoplug device.
I can not create links while I am on the go, when I enter into my account from my cell phone I need to be able to enable links so that I can send individual folders and files to people of my choice while I am on the go. At one point you were smart enough to do this and then you lost your edge of technology and took this away. This is the reason why I selected your company is so that while I am on the go I can send files but now I have to enable from a computer. Put it back the way it was, Mega here we come
And support seems to be as bad. Loaded files and get " no files found" Heck with this app. Plex works much better. Deleting this thing

It's interesting that the app says it's backing up the mobile device but the app itself doesn't see any files or folders. No files found! Does that even make any sense? However, using a browser there's no problem with file/folder visibility. Photo rendering is another story. Most pictures are not rendered by the browser outside of the home network. This used to be decent but has degraded a lot recently.
I used to love this service and app. One I lost all my files in the cloud, the names were there but no picture would load from any device or Web browser. After deleting and resetting the backups I experienced a loss of data on my phone, which prompted me to utilize the auto backup feature. Today I went to check on it and cannot see my images from the app, the app cannot see the default backup cloud even after being re-installed. I now can not backup from my phone and the support link is blank.

They removed the cloud option, and the Web interface is horrible at downloading or moving large amounts of data. Times out and starting over is the only option. The company forced all of their customers to migrate their data with not enough time and their servers seemed totally bogged down for the few week window to backup the data kept in the cloud. Enough people must have complained so they turned it back on for a while but scolded customers like it was their fault and they were doing everyone a favor
