Podcast Player

I do actually like this app, but lately and increasingly so, it randomly turns on and starts playing the last podcast I had running, even when I close the program out every time! Today alone, Podcast Player has turned on by itself AT LEAST 5 TIMES --often when my phone is inactive and locked, but also when I'm in the middle of using other programs.

This is a great app to listen to podcasts, with a great mix of functionality and a solid GUI (which is missed in a lot of other podcast apps). There does need to be a better way of removing adverts other than inviting other people to use it - I suffer the ads because I don't want to annoy friends and acquaintances by emailing them about it, but I'd happily pay a small fee to remove the adverts, especially as I use this app so much. Edit: the annoying bug where it will play your half listened podcasts randomly from the start still hasn't been fixed.

Not sure how i feel. It has been running fantastic for the last year or so. However as of late any pod i attempt to download from the US seems to fail and take FOREVER to download. Its getting VERY frustrating. Even if i listen directly from tha app without downloading the episode, it stops streaming and struggle to get it going again.

What's not to like. Sure, there's ads to make it free, but they are hardly invasive and i download them to play offline and listen to at work. Alerts when they are new episodes released and i can close the app and keep listening, and even control it through my lock screen. Perfect podcast player!

This app randomly starts playing a podcast even long after I have closed the app. One time it woke me up at 3am because my media volume was set on high and it started playing a podcast. Another occasion, I was in a meeting at work and it started playing a podcast out of nowhere. A very buggy app for the Pixel 2. Had similar issues when I was using my Samsung Galaxy S7.

Terrible App riddled by bugs. Since there rarely are any updates, they don't get fixed. First, it sometimes randomly starts playing podcasts even after force closing the app. Very annoying when you are sleeping or driving... Second, sometimes podcasts just stop playing and can not be unpaused again. You have to force quit the app and start over. Otherwise it is just a decent app with too many ads. Thus, 2/5. Will deinstall.

I often can't find what I'm looking for easily, eg:- go to Society & Culture and look for The History of English Podcast. Sometimes it doesn't even seem to be there! Is there a 'favourites or some sort of shortcut to the ones I want? Otherwise, love it.

I have problems with it freezing up on me. I'll pause it, then when I click play it won't do anything for a solid two minutes. Or if I want to change the podcast, it will take a few minutes to load. Other than that, it's great!

I have just recently starting using this app. So far so good. The only difficulty I had was trying to pause a podcast to come back to later. Even when I had shutdown the app, the podcast kept going.

App is horrible. Continually buffers, stops playing randomly, and worst of all when you close the app but don't force stop it will randomly turn on and begin playing whichever podcast you were listening to. Overall it's a horrible app. Would not recommend to anybody and I've already started downloading different podcast apps to use.

Fantastic app that has had every non-ESPN pod I've ever searched for on it. Love that it alerts me when new episodes available. Sometimes a little clunky to get to stop playing, but so worth the tradeoff of continuously playing the next episodes when I'm gloved up and can't touch my phone.

App randomly starts playing the last podcast I was listening to (from the beginning of the podcast, not where I left off), most often when plugging into USB, but also unpredictably. Very annoying. Have tried uninstalling and reinstalling. Other than that, it's great.

After switching to an Android from am iPhone I was searching for an app to play my favourite podcasts. Podcast player is easy to use and has a clean interface. My only complaint is the constant ads and the delay in play when I start a podcast.

Liked the app, but I'm having some issues that are getting to be pretty annoying. Sometimes when listening to a podcast, playback will continue on with the next in the same series instead of what's in the queue. So I have to manually stop it, and then start what I wanted to have on next. Then other times, I'll have my phone in idle, app off, somewhere near me while I'm on my laptop or reading, and a podcast will start randomly playing without prompt. I haven't touched the phone and it'll just start to play. Don't know what the issue is, but hopefully an update comes out where they address and fix the issue.

Search is really sucky. No view of how popular results are or last release, have to click into each result to see it. Makes finding good content too much hassle. Will try another player

Ever since the nightvale radio app stopped working I've been looking for a replacement to listen to nightvale. This app is perfect! Not only do I get that podcast but also a list of similar shows.

Sucks because it doesn't allow you to download most podcasts to listen offline. Pretty much renders this app useless. Nice interface and easy to navigate. That's the only positive thing I can say about it.

Not bad if you like listening to half a podcast. app randomly stops playing and requires force close and restart. Downloaded as it was marked as editors choice but looks like the bugs are a common problem after reading other reviews

I have a few frustrations with this app. I have a Google pixel. Despite selecting the option to play the next podcast in my queue, it will not move on to the next podcast. Also, I generally listen during my commute to and from work. I will pause the podcast when I reach my destination in hopes of picking up where I left off on my way home. If I close the app, I lose my place in the playback. The app will either restart the podcast or resume from where I started at the beginning of my trip. It cannot keep track of where I stopped listening and it's really frustrating. Also, the app will automatically start playing anytime I plug my phone into my computer to charge it. I enjoy this app but these little bugs are becoming annoying.

This is my first review and that is because I've never been so displeased by an app before. It is buggy, slow and for most part doesn't even download podcasts anymore. There are plenty of better options, some free ones that do not constantly bother you with adds. Real bad!!!

It started off working great then occasionally it would just turn itself on randomly. Now it's stopping refusing to play and I have had to force stop the app several times in order for it to work.

Only needed it for one specific podcast, downloaded it, and immediately got the "this provider has reached their bandwidth cap..." not sure how this app is that highly rated, that sounds super inconvenient and obnoxious.

Great app, it's easy to track all my podcasts and add new ones. There's one weird bug - the app will sometimes randomly start playing an episode on its own, even when I haven't touched the phone. Would be even better if this were fixed.

Great podcast of many different varieties for your listening pleasure. Only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is every once in awhile the app either freezes or will crash randomly. But will start right back up after I restart the app.

Not great, I was looking for something to take the place of podcasts on iPhone. This wasn't it. The interface is messy, it would randomly stop playing for no apparent reason, it would START playing for no reason. Randomly in my pocket at work or wherever I start hearing a podcast coming from my phone, the app isn't even open for me to close it. I had to open the app, wait for the 10 second ad, then hit pause. That's a pretty big problem.

I think this app is amazing but it has this weird bug where it will continue to play my podcast at random points in the day, sometimes several hours after I stopped listening, even if I haven't been using my phone. This was particularly stressful when I had been listening to a podcast on Jones town, I walked away from my phone and came back 30 seconds later to hear it blasting Jim Jones final sermon at a colleague who is less friendly to me now. So it would be a 5 star if not for that.

This app regularly chews up 1/3 to 1/2 of my data cap each month. Looking for a smarter, more efficient app that won't end up costing me an arm and a leg...

It used to freeze a lot, but it works great now. Sometimes it stutters when using mobile data, but I think that's more because of the connection than the app. I'm happy with it! Thanks!

Great app and easy to use interface with little interruption. One small bug is that if I pause from my locked screen and later come back to open the app, it will start playing a different podcast that I was not listening to. Using One plus 3, Android --- SMALL issue! But odd!

Seems to have great podcast selections but i wish if im listening to a certain podcast and it finishes it will play the next one. Its dangerous going 65mph and trying to pick the next one on a locked phone....or allow us to fwd via a "next track" option....if this is available ill give it a 5 star.

To begin with, this was fantastic - better than any other podcast app I've used. But now adverts play *all the time* while I'm listening to podcasts, on and off every 20 seconds or so, and so the whole thing has become unusable. I know I can upgrade to get rid of the ads, but it feels like my hand is being forced!

It worked great for a few weeks, but ever since it will randomly pause my podcasts and/or rewind them 30 seconds. Tried on an S8+, S7, and S7 Edge, they all have the same problem after having the app for a few weeks.

This app keeps skipping to the next podcast in my queue in the middle of the podcast I'm currently listening to. Then it erases progress and it takes me forever to find where I was. Extremely frustrating.

It works fine, it's just a lot of latency when clicking play before it loads the podcast. Another problem is it barely ever lets me continue a podcast through notifications bar. I have to go into the app and click play and even then it needs to load before it starts

Interesting topics. Some of the speakers are really good, some not so much. But there are plenty of choices if you're not enjoying what you picked. Also 20 minutes or so is just about right.

I need to write a negative review to raise the seriousness of a bug. When you pause your podcast in this app, don't touch the app for next few hours. The app will start playing the podcast automatically without any reason later. Also, instead of starting from where you stop, it starts from the beginning. If you don't think it is bad enough, think about it plays a podcast automatically at midnight when you are sleeping.

Downloaded this since I'm a new Android user, and it is currently a recommended by the play store. IOS has a preinstalled podcast app that I really miss, but this will do. It's a shame I must pay $5 for the ad-free fully functional app, but I am deeply considering it. Only because the free version looks very sloppy with the imbeded ads. At least they arent pop ups and short videos, we must look on the brightside.

They are obscene with their adverts. There's a video advert at every loading scene and even on the play screen. They literally cover the podcast's info/player in adverts. Otherwise the app works fine, even though it freezes way too much, probably because they're trying to spam you with advertisements.

Why does it open the app and start playing on its own at random times? Unacceptable.

Used to work fine. I'm uninstalling because it keeps somehow starting playing a podcast in the background while the app isn't even open and I'm doing other things on my phone.
