CamerAlert for Android
Been using pocketgpsworld cameras for years, this app is so much better than the speed cams offered with regular satnav software. One small niggle, notification is not always removed after exiting, probably needs a short delay between turning off and actual exit
The only free app of its kind that actually works! May I suggest making the settings a bit easier to understand? Why is there two audio warning settings? Both go off at the same time for me so had to disable one of them (the "when near" one) . Again, confusing. A good app overall though.
BEWARE! Been using this app for many years, Nexus 4 and nexus 5, without problems. No problem on Android 6 either. Changed about 6 months ago to a OnePlus 2, but this app does not work with it. The developers are aware of the problem, which also affects other phones, but do not seem to be doing anything about it. I will not be renewing my subscription unless something is done. One star for now.
I've been using this for a couple of years now and I wouldn't be without it. I use Waze for navigation and Camera Alert for speed warnings. It brings up an overlay over Waze and shouts at you if there is a camera and you are going over the limit. It won't let up until you drop the speed. You can't miss it. The annual cost is very good value to stop speeding tickets. Would recommend to all drivers.
Works well, but the "take care, you are not using the latest database" announcement (on the wrong audio channel!!) is incredibly annoying and the user interface badly needs updating - e.g. no hamburger menu. Camera database is an expensive subscription and is only so so.
Have tried other databases and this one is the most accurate, with a weekly update. Support is excellent if you ever have a problem. Brilliant.
Use it whenever I have a long drive, or in a situation where the satnav (on phone) is needed. Couple of niggles though - sometimes the notification gets stuck on screen when exiting & unable to setup automatic downloads of updates. I know it's to save data but if they do an opt in for it, or even a popup where I can update with one-press would be great. Do these, and its 5 stars
CamerAlert has one error: even though it accesses camera data from my part of the world, it thinks we all drive on the left side of the road. And all Winnipeg red light cams are really red speed cams
Used to be great, but since the update in December it's now totally ruined. It crashes regularly, & sometimes won't even open. When I try to exit the app it often opens itself again in the background & I have to go into settings & force close it. It drains my battery so quickly that even if I use it on charge the battery level still goes down slowly, and it makes my phone so hot I'm surprised it doesn't destroy it. All this fun for just £20 a year, but the devs don't seem to care...
Great App! If you drive a lot, this can save your license. It's easy to be inattentive for a second - which is all it takes to be snapped by a speed camera. Also displays your current speed (and average speed when required) to help you drive within the legal limits.
Good app used to be better when didn't crash so often. ...... just lags an crashes you should use it like from Google maps and just put the cMeras onto it see you a lot of hassle. ...
Longtime ios user and loved this App. Just moved to Android (Samsung S8+) and I'm getting constant crashes. I'll keep popping back to look for updates.
Not working on Sony z5 compact after update to Marshmallow. Please fix as needed badly. Used to work
Once I get out of my car... I'd like to actually be able to turn app off without having to reboot phone...but I can't... It's also far to quiet and quite a few speed limits are just plain wrong...
This app warns you of every cash cow available. Ok, you have the option to subscribe to updates, but is £3 a month expensive to prevent 3 points and a fine? No.
Been using this since I started driving a couple of years ago. It has 99% of the speed cameras I've ever seen included on it and is updated frequently. It works fine with my Galaxy S7 Edge, and Galaxy S5 before that. Recently I did almost get caught out by a new mobile location which I have now added through the app, so hoping to hear back if that gets accepted as I understand I get a free year if it does (right?) The one feature I would love to see with this is if we could swipe down the notification bar and swipe CamerAlert off to the side in order to close the app. Other apps (for example Pocket Casts) support this feature. I have CamerAlert loaded at least twice every day and the S7 requires you to hold the Back button to see contextual menus, so every time I used it I have to open it up when I get out the car, hold the back button, then click exit.
I changed my phone from Windows to Android just so that I could use this app. I cannot fault it so defo 5 stars from me.
Crashes that many times its unusable .and i pay for the data base. Well f&$&ed off .uninstalled.
Used on various devices for years,Must be one of the best apps on my phone, accurate plenty of warning, easy to use, have database on my xf aswell..Spots cameras well before they get you..
I prefer to use Sygic together with Pocketgps world cameras. This app is definitely worthile running in the background because latest Sygic has removed notifications for imported PO's. Love the way it runs in background until near a camera then visual and sound alerts appear to provide a clear warning.
2017.... Now installed on Galaxy S7 and S5 Neo. Still can't fault the app. Support is always quick (only used when I've had to change devices). Well worth the subscription to aid safety and a clean licence. 2015......I have used CamerAlert since it first came out on Android and have now installed it on my new S4 mini. Easy to use and well worth the annual subscription in order to keep it up to date. I also have the app installed on an HTC Sensation XE and use the camera database on a Garmin Nuvi; all through the same account. Update 04/01/15 excellent customer support overnight when I had to change phones and exceeded the device limit. Can't fault!
If routing sound through device speaker it plays warnings at full volume regardless of volume settings. This is a known fault on the PocketGPS world forums. But no solution is offered. If you don't want the sound routed through you car sound system because your phone is connected via bluetooth then don't buy this app or subscribe to the Pocket GPS world database
Been using this App for a while now and its always been great, but now I'm using an S7 edge the app assumes I'm hard of hearing and volume is at max no matter what I set it too - all settings are the same as I had on my S5. I've cleared the cache, reloaded the App 3 times but it still insists on screaming at me. Apart from that its great, but I won't be using it again until this issue is fixed.

Much easier to keep up-to-date than using download to SatNav via a PC. I still have my SatNav because it has an in-built camera but now use a spare smart phone for audible warnings. My only niggle is the condescending voice that tells me the database is outdated - but not enough to lose a star :-).
Great app, I have it running the whole time I am in the car so I don't get caught again, even though I know most local cameras are there I forgot last month and got caught, this now reminds me and nags me more if I don't reduce my speed. You can have it running with any apps including Google Maps and it shows a banner across the screen as you approach and audio warnings too, so basically integrates Speed Camera detection into Google Maps navigation. Unlike the similar apps ( Tomtom do a version), this one warns about mobile zones ( where I got caught!) so is a million percent better as these are the spots that are catching each other. I have submitted some new cameras in Nottingham this week which will be added to the database, and this is how it work, there are 100s more being added each month. This app WILL save me points on my licence, and I have it running all the time on an old android handset on my parcel shelf so I never have to mess loading it up etc, the only thing that is missing is it being able to autorun on power up, if they added that ( and autoclose on power disconnect) it would be perfect, I am having to use "Plug to Launch" to auto start currently,
Version 14.072 One of the best speed cam apps out there, better than TomTom and Garmin and cheap insurance. Android version will prompt you to update to the latest database if there is a later one, so you will have all available camera data known. Works as you would hope and easily customisation to your spec. Good and loud with road speed indication. You will not be caught sleeping! I use it with several android phones and a TomTom satnav. Works like a dream. I have used it for several years and each update gets better.
This App is a must have, been using it for years, BUT it keeps crashing. I'm using a Sony Z3, to try and get to the bottom of the route cause its been factory defaulted and still crashes. Perhaps running Google Maps at the same time is the cause but its just perhaps.

Absolutely excellent app. Integrates and works perfectly with sat nav apps and support is comprehensive and super fast............,thoroughly recommended!!
Used to be great, but since the last update it crashes all the time, and recently I can't even get it to open. If it doesn't get fixed I will have to cancel my subscription and find an alternative, which is a shame as I've been happy with it for years.
Display could be clearer, warning sounds a bit confusing on how to set up and don't always trigger so you could easily miss a camera. Bluetooth auto start/stop does not work. Would be nice to have option to auto update database. Basically need tidying up and simplifying
I've tried numerous different ones but this one has everything you need.
Great app never leave home without it. As a biker has saved me quit a few times
Wouldn't drive without it. Love the regular weekly updates to the camera database too. Lose a star for crashing often
Excellent app but my only gripe is the need to open a support ticket every 4th time I install a custom ROM due to the infamous 'too many devices linked' error. Why don't you add an option to deauthorise the device as an easy way to circumvent this really annoying problem for people who like experimenting with different ROMs on their devices?
Used it for four years at least. Brilliant app. SUBSCRIBE for weekly update. It could save you,
Does what it says on the tin but the interface is very dated now - looks like it was made for Android 2.x - it would really benefit from a material design makeover! It would also be nice to have a pop-up appear for a few (say, 20) seconds when starting if the database is out of date, allowing the user to trigger and complete an update with just one touch.
Just upgraded to a Sony Xperia Z5 Compact, Unfortunately this app doesn't work with this phone. Problem fixed after upgrade to Marshmallow version 6.01.

I've been using this app on different smartphones as well as downloading the database onto my Audi SatNav for the past 2 years. Its been easy to use, simple to update and invaluable in operation. My one technical query was answered promptly and the problem (following a factory reset of my phone) resolved immediately, on a Sunday.
