About Rdex

Rdex is a free form, cardfile database designed for easy data storage and retrieval. Use it to store addresses, phone numbers, online logins, recipes, or anything you might need to find again. Searching is simple, just type a word into the search box to find every card containing that word. Designed for simplicity, Rdex requires no dialogs, no fancy fonts, no typing into multiple fields, just copy-and-paste or type into a new card and you are done.

Rdex recognizes phone numbers, email addresses and web links and connects them to their respective applications. Just tap the link to phone the number, compose an email or browse the website.

Rdex is also available for the PC. Store the data on a cloud service like Dropbox and you can access it from anywhere. Open the data file from within the Android Dropbox app and any changes you make will be saved to the Internet cloud.

Rdex is deliberately simple. The data file is stored as a simple text file. You can open it with any text editor. Operating systems and applications come and go but ASCII text will be with us forever.

Easy, simple but so handy! And the underlying data file can easily be put on the cloud so I have my card file always available.

Loved it, but since update does not save info! I use this daily for work and relied on it. Thought it's simplicity would ensure that it would stay reliable.

Plain text app for notes of any kind. Yes, you can create a new card or database. Long-tap an existing card. There they are: New Card, New Database. I use this for my mileage log, lecture notes, to-do list... with cut and paste from E-mail, can grab things for easier access.

I've used Quickdex on the Mac and PC for more than 20 years and now RDEX for my Android tablet and phone. It's a simple app that I can't imagine living without. What would make it perfect is the ability to password protect my data while I'm traveling. Really like the list feature. Thanks for creating it and making it available. I would happily pay for it!

Simple rolodex-style data is desirable, however this app does not allow you to actually create a dB and start entering data. You have to import a pre-existing .rdx file from somewhere. Serious oversight imo..

Free-form card file. Could wish for personally designed profile templates but this is best implementation of old Palm style searchable flat database I've found yet. Keeping files in Dropbox ensure desktop file for Windows version stays in sync. Recommended for old PDA users.

There is no option to create a new card or file! Even though the directions say there should be.

Old fashioned, but then so am I. Just need a place to plce adresses, notes info. and so on to keep the jumble sorted. This is one simple way of doing that and being able to easily retrieve the info.

This is not a rolo deck. You cannot add cards to the deck without copy and paste. You have no ability to build a database.

I have been an RDEX for Windows user for years, and installed the Android app as soon as it was developed. (You can sync the Windows version with the Android version via Dropbox, so all your contacts and information are up to date in both places.) I use this as my rolodex and the place to put login information, small snippets of information, account numbers, or anything that I might forget. Then, all I have to do is use the instant search and it will find each card that contains that search term. I honestly don't know how anyone who collects information can keep track of it without RDEX.
