About Lightning Camera

Have you ever thought of a camera that captures a moment after it happened?
With "Lightning Camera" you can catch pictures of moments that happened up to 3 seconds before.
Want to capture a lightning? No problem - just hit the capture button after the impact!
Afterwards share the catch or create a GIF of the impact.

"Lightning Camera" is absolutely free of ads and charge.

"Lightning Camera" works with the largest camera preview resolution of your device.
That means the resulting images will not have the high resolution of your main camera, but about 1280x720 on most devices or 1920x1080 on newer 5 inch devices.

Try it out and leave some comments about what you like to see in future releases!

What are users saying about Lightning Camera

Had a thought looked it up and here it was - a circular buffer photo app. Not only great for storms but also good for any unpredictable sudden photo opportunities. Basic but does it all

Z70%
by Z####:

Upside down on the Nexus 5x and needs a flash detection system so you can just leave it with the display off. If it did those things I'd pay for it...

W70%
by W####:

Clever little app! I grabbed it before the summer monsoons started, and I've been having a great time with it. We had a storm last night that was very close. Many of the pix were almost totally white-outs, but I got some excellent mid-fork pix, too. This is a treasure!

Z70%
by Z####:

This app crashes everytime I try to check the photos. Don't even bother.

M70%
by M####:

Very good for those that know photography. Continously captures photos until you "freeze" time to capture the correct momentum you are after. Excellent for phones with very good computing power. Some might not work so well do check your specs first.

E70%
by E####:

Tiny, useless, pixelated images. So disappointed, the app was a really awesome idea

C70%
by C####:

Great app for those tricky sjots. Has a slight issue with bright close lightning causing a transpose of images and lined but other than that its fabulous. Highly recommended

M70%
by M####:

Basically it buffers or records video for a set amount of time you can set (buffer) then if you press a sec or 2 late it had recorded say 64 frames prior so between that time (could. Be 3 seconds) it should show up some good quality action shots!

Z70%
by Z####:

It works pretty well but it would be cool if it could detect the lightning and automatically harvest the frames

V70%
by V####:

Great for capturing o'scope traces! I use this on a scope with no digital storage or "persist" to get a good look at quick transient signals.

S70%
by S####:

This app flips everything upsidedown on my camera...weird. It works but is annoying.

E70%
by E####:

On a oneplus one, have to use v1.7 to get it to run on marshmallow.

Z70%
by Z####:

Has no options for setting file location, Iso and other important things

I70%
by I####:

Slowly getting the hang of it. But I really enjoy using this.I got one lightning without app..but that was by chance. This increases your odds dramatically. .

Z70%
by Z####:

There is no other camera app like this if you want to take pictures of something that you won't know when it happens this is the only camera that does it.

Z70%
by Z####:

Got over 50 strike between my pad and phone in one storm and was lucky enough to get a streamer charge directly in front of my house

B70%
by B####:

It does what it says. Yes, it could have more features but, considering it is free and there are no ads, I have zero complaints. Thanks for the cool app.

Z70%
by Z####:

Took a very good picture of lightning and went to save it, and it was stuck on saving. Even after freeing 500 mb space for 1 picture

L70%

Great App, Just Used It Last Night To Get Some Lightning Pics. I Highly Recommend That You Download This App.

Y70%
by Y####:

Works as well as my DSLR does, and I always have my phone with me. My wife has captured some nice shots to boot.

Z70%
by Z####:

I was honestly surprised how well it worked. It ended up working better than my digital camera.

S70%
by S####:

Needs single shot auto save mode.. Because it takes time to pick an image to save and back to capture mode

Z70%
by Z####:

As great a solution for photographing lightning as I've encountered. It works great and gets great shots.

O70%

N70%

Works great. The image is upside down for Nexus 5x. A little confusing, but it's still usable.

O70%
by O####:

Used my hand swining in front of it as the first test... captured 1-2 seconds after it had gone by. Already liking this app...

H70%
by H####:

This app is really good, you need a little bit of practice but once you have got the hang of it, it works a treat. Have managed to take a few nice snaps of lightning, and with being able to save consecutive frames have some nice animations too. Just need more thunderstorms!

A great way to capture lightning on a Android phone. Just wondering if the Longer or Shorter Lag gets the best pics. Much more Stable than,a,year ago. Wouldnt use any other. Good Work! I,do wonder if a zoom control is coming?
