Plex for Sony Internet TV

Does not recognize and plex servers in the same network.

Why is this not getting updated with other Google TV app ? Is it because its free with SONY ?

not an inspiring UI and sometimes it formats clips all wrong. It also just closes out of a video at times randomly

No complaints from me get the wonderful plex UI on my TV any complaints. To clear up some bad reviews/mis-truths about the app the no updates are not in the control of the plex team as Sony's NSZ-GS7/8 (which this app is intended for) are stuck on honeycomb awaiting an update to KitKat from Sony its self. There is only so much they can update on an OS version which is now 2 generations behind the current android release and lacking the performance improvements of them. Issues of file playback are again not the apps problem they are issues with the range of codec support the actual hardware can playback not the application.

It is nice that it's free for Sony NSZ-GS7 Gtv. Bummer the android app is $5; but for other Gtv it is $1. Wish pricing was more consistent. Oh well.

It is very bad that on the new version (August 29) they removed the compatibility with the first generation of Sony Google TV devices. Wish you the best crash and burn.

First off, I would like to say Plex has the potential - it's just not there yet. The settings tab is BLANK. Out of the 4 movies I have, ONLY 2 are showing up under the movies tab. No streaming for .VOB files. Despite it being a local network, it's still very slow. Issues with Pt1 and Pt2 avi files, despite following the naming convention. Issues galore. Once updated, I will change my ratings IF these issues have dissolved.

Local media worked great till last version of Plex Media server. Something changed on the latest server version and now local media sees a lot of macro-blocks and partial frame freezes. Channel streaming is not working so dont even bother. Revert back to previous Plex Server version for best local video streaming.

Useless without a "Plex Media Server", whatever that is. Hey Sony and Plex, don't you think it would be better for everyone if you gave your users the option of having this app on their GoogleTV? Your users do.

this app is the only reason i still have google tv in my house

With very slow updates compared to the standard version, it's almost like a trial version. Is this a way of forcing you to buy the "Plex for Google TV" version? (Which I have)

dev doesnt pay attention to this version. hasnt been updated in months...unlike the other version. epic fail get with the program here

I own a Samsung InternetTV and a Sony GoogleTV. Sadly the GoogleTV Application is very poor compared to t he Application the Plex team delivers on the Samsung TV. Please bring the Samsng TV App to Google TV!

works great. plays 99 percent of my 500 plus movies

if you are having issues with stuttering problems either lower the quality or use a hard wire connection works great if u know what you are doing and google the issues you are having

had some stuttering issues at first but turning off transcoding fixed it. Perfect now.

I bought my Sony internet player with one purpose: Plex. Setup was a breeze, and the interface is gorgeous. But - and this is the whole point, really - the video quality on some files is garbage. The same files play beautifully on my smart TV via DLNA, but I wanted the interface and home theater experience of Plex. The problem seems to be that they are transcoding on my PMS, and the resulting file is terrible. The few I tested even played OK - though with some serious buffering - on the player's built-in "Media Player" app. I guess I still need a PC in my living room?

had potential, but although well aware of the issues with this app for a long time now, the plex devs have abandonded it. i wouldnt suggest anyone spending money on their plex pass version based on this behavior. they need to hire more software developers if they truly want to grow.

It finally caught up to other versions let's hope it will stay up to date like the others it is very likely Sony's fault due to testing.

After being plagued with problems for months with no updates in sight, Plex finally releases a major update. I'm pleased to report that all of my previous problems appears to be resolved: the app no longer crashes, shows are marked as watched, I can pause and resume from where I left off and the interface has received a welcome redesign. The new version even includes an announcements section, where presumably Plex can post news to users so we're not left in the dark regarding upcoming updates. If you were unhappy with the previous release, I suggest trying it again as you'll surely be impressed.

The new version is everything I wanted and more.

Glad to see Plex has not forgot about Google TV.

The app crashes everytime it starts. I have to start it several times before it will find the server and start working. Other then that it works really well. If you fix this problem I will gladly change my review to 5 stars.
