Plex for Android
One of the best working apps out there. Took all my dvd's put on computer and this app makes sorting and viewing my movies more fun. The one time payment is a no brainer with over 300 movies and adding more all the time. Also the ability to use on any of my 5 tablets or 4 phones. Couldn't ask for a better cooler app. Nice to set up how many previews you want to see prior to the main feature movie. Lots of extras. Do have some issues with it not finding some items. Like all of my season one of Lost in Space. My guess is I will have to go through and rename each file to the title of the episodes or something. It sees two of the 20 some episodes. But for the price can't beat the features of having ALL my dvd movies in a library that functions!
Should play synced content quickly and easily but it cant figure out where it is and what its connected to by itself. This makes Android Auto compatability useless as it only works if you set the app the right way before connecting it.
I don't know plex doesn't seem to work for me when I'm not on my local network. I've followed the port forwarding instructions on my router. Reset my router. Uninstalled and reinstalled the software multiple times. Added an allowance to my firewall. Tried it with the firewall turned off. For what I paid for flex pass I expect it to be pretty turn key.
App was perfect then they made tons of updates and took out the setting to play videos at its original video settings. ie Force direct play. Without that option it tries to transcode everything to increase or lower resolution. So stupid this option exists if you are watching in roku to allow direct play of a video as is. App is useless to me without this setting and slows down my server for no reason. You use to have this option in your app 1 star rating until you bring this feature back.
The plea ecosystem has high potential but regularly disappoints me. Sync will stop half way, or tell me I have nothing synced but it's still using 25G. The issue presents across many android devices and three different servers.
How do I get help for an issue I've had for weeks? Plex Player keeps failing at launch on my Fusion 5 tablet when it used to work fine. Have reported and sent emails with no response.
This app was awesome and I did love it at one point. Whatever they did on the recent updates makes the app useless for me now as it crashes on startup every single time on my Samsung tablet when it used to work flawlessly before these updates. As a Plex Pass patron I am very disappointed and looking for alternatives if Plex doesn't smarten up and fix these issues right away.
I have tried a few casting programs before this. Plex is by far the worst. It can not cast at all while playing videos on my phones (well that is what it said). And it can not play ALL my local videos. Free app Local Cast can do what I want much much much better. Also there is no refund button, i have to contact Google and ask a refund from there. This is not good. First time for me in 5 years using Android.Bye bye
Plex wont even open. It just throws up a not responding tab and can't even get into app. Used to be able to. And when it did open before the cross form this plays only the last episode this device played and not the last episode watched.
Camera upload won't stay on, turns itself off once you leave the settings screen. Haven't gotten any responses on the Plex forum and paid for Plex pass. Server playing video works great. But I paid for camera upload sync and it doesn't work and can't get any support.
I use Plex Media Server but it seems like this app is not even necessary. People can download an app like Localcast instead. It can easily access Plex Server and has more features like it can stream local content as well. So what's the need of this app? Please update the app so that it can atleast have features like local file casting otherwise this app is worthless.
Every release introduces new bugs while the old ones remain. Casting isn't reliable, subtitles stops working after a couple of minutes playback. If you enjoy spending 10-30 minutes restarting equipment and apps, deleting profiles, logging in and out and whatever else you can come up with that might (but most likely not) put Plex in a working state, then look no further! But, if you just want something that works look somewhere else.
Syncing can render your device unusable. I get that you want to sync as quickly as possible, but Android detects this as a stalled device and will reboot if you try and do something while it is syncing.
6 months and no fix....While plex is mostly excellent. The current version of this app constantly hangs while syncing over wifi causing my phone to drain its battery in just a few hours. Fix immediately!
Would be very helpful to add ability for the app to cache library data (titles, thumbnails, etc.) to drastically increase load speeds especially when very far from the server. That way app can only need to update changed data and retain existing library status. (The Plex for Kodi add-in does all these things and runs SIGNIFICANTLY faster even for playing video. It only lacks Chromecast support)
Literally could not get the tour screen to go away, even after uninstalling/reinstalling on my chromebook. Needs work!
The app crashes on startup without any error message. When I clear data, it starts up. Fixed it pls, we paid for it... it's useless at the moment... annoying.
Works perfectly. Paid for the unlimited watching, works great on my Chromecast or just on my pc. Exactly as expected. The automatic finding of the names and images is AMAZING too. Never seen a better program
Awesome app as it solves the problem of getting the pics and videos of your phone and onto your Plex server. Plus it's like your own personal Netflix where you supply the movies or watch movies on a friend's or families Plex server. Totally awesome.
First the Nvidia Shield TV, then fixed, now the Mi Box. Nothing but Settings, News & Library (News only), c'mon Plex, sort yourselves out, test before release. Being lifetime pass member, I expect better.
One of the best apps ever used! Like a netflix from my own computer at home no more damaging dvds! Can't see how it can be better. Bought life time membership was so good ! Seems to play all my codec files like vlc did
I first setup Plex in 2011, got a lifetime Plex Pass when that showed up. My friends, family, and I use my Plex server every day on an array of devices. This Android app just keeps getting better and better. They've done it, they win!
1 star rating now as they have added this new news streaming service which cannot be disabled. This should not be forced on us, especially the paid subscription users.
Great app.... But regularly freezes when loading on my device! Have submitted numerous feedback and no reply/ fix
I'm a big fan of most of what Plex can do, but the syncing functions break constantly, and the player interface lacks obvious elements like volume slide controls. Correcting these issues would make Plex a five-star app easily.
They send you emails telling you there's a deal on. Check prices. Actually higher than before. Pretty you can't do that in Canada. Ask Amazon.
I've been using and paying for Plex for a long time now and had no issues ....however my account has a user call kids with kid only libraries shared....this morning I loaded Plex up to put a TV show on for my kids and horror films are been recommended to watch.....no horror films are shared with that user (yes I did check after I saw them) please fix as only libraries shared with user X should be visible to said user
We love the app. Looking into if you buy the season pass do you still need to pay the $5.00 charge for each Android device. As our family of 4 has multiple TV's and devices. This would begin to add up on top of the season pass.
As soon as I logged on with my account I wanted to sync up with my dad's account so I could have access to his movies, it pissed me off because it wouldn't let me sync up without paying monthly and it immediately synced all my photos and videos on to it which I did NOT want. This made me really mad like I can't even tell you.
This is a fantastic option for media storage! It automatically organizes everything and lets you fling media to other devices after you unlock the app ($5) or subscribe to their premium service. Honestly the $5 unlock per device is worth every penny.
The app does not sync to SD card on Oreo. And the support seems to be generally nonexistent on forums. All I could see was users figuring out for themselves what was going on.
Recent updates seemed to have caused stuttering video playback with various mediums.
Why do I constantly have to re-enter my login info after each update ?? Seriously Get With, but after no reply from the developer guess they DON'T care !!
Web page allows me to watch by folder. To do that with this worthless app I would need to add thousands of libraries instead of 1.
App notification feature is bugged. Files to refresh current item playing, fails to close when prompted and buttons do not always respond.
Plex is awesome and the way that my offline library is organised without any effort is great. The fact that I can access my library at home remotely is also fantastic. No need to lug around an external harddrive.
I really enjoy using Plex and it's easy set up. I wish they had a the option to play audio of movies or TV shows with the screen off on mobile devices. Or if they have this option. Already how can I access it
Updated to Android 8.1 on my Pixel 2 XL now all of my videos play in terrible quality like 360p or lower
Unable to change sync location to external storage (USB OTG drive). Only shows internal storage as an option.

Will no longer play uncompressed FLAC music files from the app. Says not enough bandwidth and I have unlimited data with my cellular network that's very fast. It shows the player playing but no audio. Worked perfect before updating OnePlus 3T to Oreo 8.0. Will no longer be a subscriber after this month as I will not pay for something that doesn't work. Once it's fixed I will be a plexpass subscriber again. Customer service is F- even for plexpass subscriber's!
