purple:player for Android
i would give it no stars if I could. Same problem as all the others. I bought a DVD and it's taken over a month to deliver it. In the meantime the ability to view it or download it online is a pure fantasy and an exercise in total frustration. Support is non existent. Horrible.
purple player on android tablet is very poor. where is the player advanced controls for tablets and phones? like slow mo, loop etc? is this only a feature for desktop? the player itself is quite usable for basic play only. play back stops and freezes upon pause. not a great choice for learn guitar.
Doesn't work on my samsung s7 device!!! Even on the computer purple player crash a lot. On the cell phone appear a nice purple screen so you can't view the content bought previously.
USELESS. Even if the content has been downloaded on your device such as your phone, as long as you are connected to your mobile internet (4G) it will stream it (expect 800mb per 30 minutes)..There is no option, it is automatic.. You have to disconnect your phone from your mobile internet if you want to use want was downloaded on your device. ...Absolutly useless if you are using a phone and not a tablet. I contacted the support and never got any reply. USELESS
Since the upgrade I can’t view my videos because of lagging in the streaming. Never had this problem previously and I know it’s not my broadband because everything else works fine. Spent quite a lot of money on my videos so not impressed.
Volume too low to be useful. When using pause, player crashes and videos have to be restarted, library order defaults to alphanumeric order, no way to search by date etc. No indication what has been watched or not. Not very good at all. Update - hate this app even more the more I use it! Now refuses to download any new programs, can't clear library of old watched stuff. How can a simple video player be so flawed??? Devs please look at vlc player for tips!!!
I had some problems in the past because of my old smartphone, which ran out of memory and therefore couldn't run the videos. I updated my device, and now it works perfectly (as it always did in the past). They contacted me less than 24 hours after my last bad review, and it was just a cache memory problem. Thanks for the good job, I'll change the rating for the good!
This app sucks. I just purchased a 3 month subscription to a partner named Gaia. Supposedly, I'm able to download videos to watch off line, but im not able to log in whatsoever using my Gaia account information, per instructions, or not, because as far as I know, This App doesnt have an independant accout of its own. I dont know who's worse - This App, or Gaia for choosing such a lousy platform for their videos?
Bought some classes via Android Central and tried several times over 2 hours to download a single master class. Download failed on the same video multiple times and each time I had to cancel the download which completely erases the 35 successful downloads (of 42). Directory on my SD card is empty. What did it spend that whole time downloading? Will try downloading another class but this seems like typical behavior according to all the other user issues.
The app refused to acknowledge it's downloads and after uninstalling and reinstalling it won't download a thing. This has been an absolute waste.
I have one product that supposed to use it. Walk at home and it has never worked properly. Don't tell me to contact support because I had several times without luck. No refund when I asked for it wither. I got screw never sgain. I will pray Walk at home gets smart and used Vudu, hugely better format.
Update: 10/9/17 - Their help desk is unresponsive and useless. I've been waiting for some kind of response for the last 23 minutes. My advice: DO NOT BUY ANY MEDIA THAT USES THIS PROGRAM. I have a Samsung and I'm trying to download my content. I've been getting "updating files" for the last TWO days, with no progress shown. When I try to use the program, it crashes. Didn't anyone test this program?
It takes forever to load and gets the circle of death spinning. This has been a problem for a year and a half. Fix it please!
This is the worst video player I have ever used. It just keeps pausing and the screen goes blank.
This app doesn't stream or download well. While other streaming apps are doing well. We have no alternative app for it. How can any respectable site endorse this app? The windows app is a bit more functional than the android one. It's unbelievable that the app only offers one playback quality...
If i pause while playing a downloaded video it will not start again. Some times the download works sometimes it doesnt. If you remove the storage card and reinsert it the downloaded videos are not recognised so you have to download them again. Very poorly written piece of software with an obvious lack of testing.
This is the second time I'm downloading it giving it another try, the first time it froze up several other apps on my Galaxy S6 as if it had junk files behind it or something weird like that
It works OK on my desktop but on my tablet it takes ages to load and there is no chromecast even though it is advertised it can be used with chromecast! I wouldn't recommend this app to anyone.
Does not even load, just a nice purple screen.
Stuck at the login screen and just says "loading" forever. How am I supposed to watch my purchased content??
It shows Loading ... forever. The dimmed background shows email and password. I never had a chance to login to my account.
Honestly guys we need to talk to homespun and guitar videos at this point and encourage them to ditch purple and go with another system. Please join me on emailing THEM with that request. Sorry purple player

Useless app that I am forced to use.. unfortunately no other choice (at the moment).. Not user friendly, cannot watch offline, keep giving confusing message, the worse support.. Please someone create a better alternative than this app fast!
Absolute rubbish but no other choice to play my content. Can't pause, can't exit without force closing, doesn't remember my position. Won't purchase anything that requires using this app again.
Awful app. If you pause for more than a few seconds the video playback will fail and you have to completely restart the video. The app also never shows downloaded videos on startup, you have to refresh constantly.
Worked somewhat well before the update. After update nothing works. Tech support is a joke. WILL NOT purchase any more content for this app!
Was ok but since update it doesn't work anymore. Previously could watch my downloaded content offline, now have to delete downloads and watch the content on line via WiFi. This is fine at home but not on the move. Have been in protracted communications with the support people and after many repeated descriptions of the issue they have finally admitted there is a problem. Do they not test their updates? or are we the beta testers? I am informed that the issue is identified and an update will be issued soon. I suggest for the time being that they roll back to the previous iteration. Oh and, support team, please read the comments on here, might give you a clue that there is a problem. Moral of the story.....If it ain't broke, don't fix it!
First thanks for the attempt. Now, the whole reason for this app is to watch podcasts off line. If you put this on a cell connected device it will try as hard as it can to use your data! Download titles over WIFI then disconnect WIFI and it does not go off line! It switches to 4g and eats your data! NO! The support response was go into airplane mode! NO! Go off line, this is why this app exists! You can't maintain your library! What? After watching a downloaded title (in airplane mode) and deleting the file from my device the title stays in my library. My library is going to be so huge I won't be able to find the title I'm after in the hundreds of titles I've already watched. This is nuts.
Downloaded some exercise DVD's. Often when I go back to them the download has vanished although it says downloaded. Have to reinstall and often crashes. Contacted support and they weren't any help. Cannot delete anything. Very disgusted and no other way to play those DVD's I purchased. A total nightmare!!! Think twice before using it.
Can't find a way to delete a program on android tablet. Only download? Oh...Could change the name to Purple Face Player or Purple Rage Face Player lol :)) :((
Won't accept password, hit forgot password but link in email doesn't work. So I am unable to use the app. Uninstalling
Organization is a mess, try to find your download in the mess of files, cant even keep files in order. Playback doesnt continue from where you were. Gaia this is disappointing.
I can't download my paid videos? Tskkkk please fix this up!
The user interface and the functionality of the app are both terrible.

Edit: your update did not fix the problem. This app really needs help. Forced to use it since there's no alternative but wow, there's just no telling how much it sucks... please guys... fix this! It's actually far worse than it used to be... which I never would have imagined possible, but it's true :/
