About JFCards - Kanji Flashcards

The JFCards (Japanese Flash Cards) application will help you learn the writing and meaning of the Japanese Kanji characters. Based on the system of James Heisig (as described in the book “Remembering the Kanji”) it comes with a database containing more than 3000 of the most frequently used Kanjis.

- Create your own decks of flashcards (each card can participate in many decks)

- Keep track of the number of times you have reviewed each card

- Search and browse kanji by stroke number, JLPT level, Grade or meaning

- Create composite decks by merging other decks or including only the cards that are not memorized yet

App runs fine and stuff, but it does less than a flashcard app should do. It doesn't matter if I got a card wrong or right, because my only options are to not practice, or practice the entire deck over. I can't practice only the ones I got wrong. And I can't randomize the cards, either. App is too basic.

M70%
by M####:

No user control of which face of the card you will see first. Like if the user wants to see the kanji first and not the English.

Z70%

I would like to be able too comment on cards, adding the images for remembering mentioned in Heisig's book. Or if they would just have the key words on the cards that would be good enough. That would help a lot in making this a better app for me

Don't waste your time with this app.

Good but it always shows the correct kanji

Would love to see the Kanji first. This would make it so much easier

As an aid for RTK it's great but lacks features, main example is that I'd like to pick particular kanji for a deck, not just from 100-200... Ie, create more specific decks. Possiblity for later? Also it DOES have the readings, press "i" on the card, it's the "On-Yomi, Kun-Yomi" part. But of course you'll have to learn the kana alphabet first...

V70%
by V####:

While it contains over 3k kanji characters, it doesn't allow me to draw the character, not does it test my ability to read kanji

U70%
by U####:

Usefull if you update it.

T70%
by T####:

Better if it allowed you to write the kanji.

T70%
by T####:

What I do is just draw the kanji on the screen with my finger, the same way as if I'm tracing it on the palm of my hand. Of course it leaves no trace, but is still enough to see if I had remembered it correctly

T70%
by T####:

Would it be possible to add a writing pad area below the question so I can try to draw the kanji before flipping?

J70%
by J####:

Only tests meaning to kanji. No explanations; recommend reading Remember the Kanji first.

This app is great to use, especially if you're using it along with the book Remember the Kanji . absolutely amazing!

U70%
by U####:

Would be much better if spaced repetition system is utilised.

T70%
by T####:

Doesn't give reading only kanji and translation. Pretty useless.

This app would be perfect if I could just look at the kanji first and guess the meaning.. if there is a way to do this, please let me know
