About GM Toolkit

GM Toolkit is a template-based campaign management tool for pen-and-paper role-playing games (RPGs) and tabletop wargames. After installation, you can pre-load your choice of templates. You can also create your own templates or purchase and install other pre-built Template Packs for popular role-playing game systems such as Pathfinder and Savage Worlds. Every entry can be linked to others, so you can easily cross-reference equipment, abilities, or spells to specific characters or NPCs. With a tap of the screen, you can see the details.

** NOTE ** An internet connection (wifi or mobile network) is required to setup and redeem your free Template Pack.

GM Toolkit is not a character generator. GM Toolkit does allow you to keep frequently referenced information at your fingertips - including your own notes, so you don't have to mark up your books or carry a stack of paper with you - regardless of your game/setting preference.

Template Packs provide a basic structure for any game setting you choose. Don't like the initial setup or have some house rules you need to account for? You have the freedom to create completely unique templates of your own or modify any purchased templates to better suit your needs. Unlimited possibilities.

With GM Toolkit eXchange (GMX) files, you create XML files on your computer, then import that information into GM Toolkit using Google Drive. Our GMX format lets you easily import systems, templates and entries from files you created on your PC. For more information on GMX files and how to create your own data files, check out the tutorials on www.mygmtoolkit.com.

GM Toolkit has been tested on the Toshiba Thrive, Barnes & Noble Nook (rooted), Samsung Galaxy Nexus D (ICS), Samsung Galaxy Note, Samsung Galaxy S4, Nexus 5, Nexus 7 (Jelly Bean), Asus Transformer, and Archos 101.

If I don't, I'll still get it put together, it just might take a little longer. Note: Template packs do NOT (and cannot) contain any proprietary information from published titles. Templates Packs only create a structure for you to keep game information and notes for a particular system.

This is really great for gms like myself, but the game system I play with (Fate Core) uses a unique set of 6 sided dice with +, - and blank spots instead of numbers, if the developers could somehow add those dice into the dice roller function it would be great, the reason why I asked this because Fate Core is one of the templates and I assumed that since Fate Core was one of their templates, they would have that type of dice.

It has a few of the obscure titles.

5 bucks is a pretty hefty fee for an app that does nothing. Picked the "free" palladium template pack cuz character creation is time consuming and using this app would just make it even more so. The templates are as bare bones as you could get. I guess if I waited I might be able to get a data pack for skills, spells, equipment (each an additional 2-3 bucks) but I think I'll just stick to pen and paper for now. Not much of a "tool" at all.

The template packs download fine, but I have been trying for months to get the pathfinder data packs (I bought both) with no luck. Please fix this.

Dead App. Not updated since last year. Still useless, and a waste of money. New update do not make the app any better. Note: This app is not for real gamers. Just a sales tool to buy more templates. The app is simply a poorly formatted character sheet. There are no calculated integration (ie dice rolls linked to stats for easy rolling). It is clumsy at best and will have no use in a real gaming environment. The included die roller is the worst I have seen, and you have to pick dice every time you open it, with no save feature. Save your money and skip this over priced app. Check the other negative ratings. There is a reason no trial version exists!

Current Review: There are some serious flaws in this app that only became obvious to me after investing a ton of time in constructing a custom template. The developer was informed and asked to assist and has either ceased supporting this app or is unwilling to do so. Either way, I can only suggest that others stay away until such a time that the creator shows a willingness to fix the issues in their application. Prior Review: Hands down the most powerful gaming tool for both players and GMs alike on the Android market. It does require more work on the front end to get set up correctly than other apps but the amount of flexibility it offers makes it far more valuable to GMs, players, and wargamers alike.

A nice GM tool with some rather annoying bugs (mostly with linked entries). Simple, somewhat useful, but need usability improvements and some automation.

Has become my go-to app for planning my games. The only real gripe I have had is that any time I open an entry that has a Linked Entry, the app slows to a crawl... Not sure why...

You could have something that's a whole lot more functional by using excel.

If you're going to feature multiple templates for different games, they should all be to the same extent. The Battletech one was no better than me typing up on Word. Not worth buying the app. Wish I'd have investigated more before losing the refund option.

Just what i was looking for being able to set up templates and now have some premade is awsome. Had issues with trying to purchase some of the templates and the designers were quick to respond and correct the issues. Will definately suggest to my other dms in our group to check it out for a nice quick refrence to the game at hand.

I tried to set up the chaosium template on my tablet. After my choice it went back to the screen and there was nothing! When I sought to fix this by redownloading, it charged me and the system template still did not show! (It shows under downloads.). I am using a Nexus 10.

I would love to see added a link feature anywhere a roll could occur. If I put 3D6+10 as a weapons damage under a weapons tab, I should be able to push it and roll. A map p generator would be nice, but unnecessary, and I'd like on the rolls for it to show the modifier in addition to adding it in.

The basic programming is enginous. But the database is basicly an empty structure which requires tons of manual typing before it's usable.

I have enjoyed this app for a while now. The in app die roller is great, the templates are pretty good, the updating on point and developer interaction/response is top notch. Because of all this the app has a fantastic chance of becoming absolutely legendary. No I'm not trying to boost ego. I have been using this program since it's inception and watched closely. Nothing but consistency in excellence for everything makes me say this. Please don't stop doing what you are doing!

I like the app, flexibility to create custom systems templates is great. Some crashing and no way to link pictures is its downside. Using Nexus 10.

I was surprised to see the low level of functionality in this app. My own fault mainly for paying more attention to the reviews than to the app description. At present, the app is little more than a way to list all the "stuff" in your game, such as attributes, skills, NPCs, Characters, weapons, etc. and the details about them. The only template set that comes with the app in for Shadowrun. The others listed in the description are available for $0.99 each. Each template seems well done for what they are, but the lack of any ability to link entries, base the value of one entry on others, or generate a roll from a skill or stat makes the app less useful than an Excel spreadsheet for the purposes of gaming. It is even less so because there is no way to export the information (to CSV or XML, for example) or to populate the data from some externally generated file. EVERY piece of information in this app has to be entered, by hand, on your device, using whatever input methods that limits you to. This app has promise if the developer can provide these capabilities in the near future, but for now I recommend saving your pennies (all 99 of them), until that happens.

X70%
by X####:

Since the original review, the dev has added the ability for linking between tables. This makes it MUCH more useful, and with a little work on the GMs part it can be used to streamline the game, spending less time referencing rules and more time k̶i̶l̶l̶i̶n̶g̶ ̶p̶c̶s̶ enjoying the game.

Z70%
by Z####:

Have superficially played with this so far, looks like it'll do a good job for me and my players. The only things I would like to see is support for importing chummer files for shadowrun characters, exploding (roll again) sixes for the die roller, and a success (5 or 6) and failure (1) counter for the die roller.

I'm quite happy to have found this app and I appreciate the ability to create custom templates. I'm currently creating one for our Delving Deeper RPG campaign. Sweet!

App works well and does all it advertises. I like the option to buy Systems or create your own; best of both worlds. Tested on the Nexus 7 (Android 4.1.1) and everything seems to work great. Great app and quickly updated!

A very cool keeper of game info! No more pawing through notebooks trying to find my stat notes. GM Toolkit keeps it all together for you! Keep on developing! Support this app, it's only a buck!

X70%
by X####:

I've made outstanding use of this versatile app. It doesn't come with any data of its own, but that means its potential is virtually limitless. Best of all, when I encountered a troublesome bug, it was fixed promptly upon reporting it.

X70%
by X####:

I like the app. I like the dev. And when the updates are done this will be awesome.

X70%
by X####:

This app is great for keeping track of all the information for a campaign in one place. No more rooting around through dozens of books. Plus it's infinitely customizable so you can add as much as you want. All it needs is a dice roller and it would be perfect.

I70%
by I####:

A customizable series of drop down menus filled with game data that you have to input by hand. More tech savvy than scribbling frequently used info on notecards or post-it notes, but no easier to get up and running.

D70%
by D####:

This app is the only one I could find on Android that comes close to what I need. As far as I'm concerned its missing 3 features (two of which are listed as the next step) for me to give a 5: possibility to group some of the fields together; calculated fields and images.
