Massachusetts Alerts for Android
Awesome, encouraging
For some reason, I am not receiving alerts (yes, I do have Locations on and have entered two locations to be monitored). I actually have this app on an iOS device and have received severe weather warnings just today, while the app on my android device has no alerts listed. If I don't get alerts, then this app is useless to me.
app main purpose to give mass. residents alerts, I couldn't receive any because application kept asking my location & wanted GPS always-on. I understand that 50% alerts are county based but I rather see them/read them & have access to all information rather no information & app that nags for my location 24/7.
Outstanding app!
It REQUIRES that the gps remains on at all times, which drains power more rapidly. Between my weather channel app (with a set location, gps off), and the factory installed emergency alerts app, I can receive many of those same alerts without this mema app. Uninstalled.
Ping4 is NH not MA?
Wasn't receiving notifications despite constantly resetting.
Insists on location even when I'm in browsing the map, fails to add locations anyway, basically useless, uninstalled.
Nice
I should have listened to the reviews about quiet hours not working correctly. Got woken up around 4:30am on a work night with an alert for a Red Flag Warning - which I hadn't even signed up for alerts on at any hour. Thanks for the heads up, I was totally going to jump out of bed and start a fire otherwise! Since I can't trust it not to do this again, I don't turn it on at all, so it's useless to me for what I wanted it for - timely warnings of actual emergencies.
Have quiet hours set and this app still sets off alerts. Fix this bug!!!
This would be a great app if I could just choose a default location instead of being required to use gps. I never leave gps on because it drains the battery and reports location to google apps.
Convenient & informative
Very helpful and handy
Would be nice to have custom alert sounds. Like being able to use ringtones from your phone.
Requires you to enable GPS in order to use the app at all, even though GPS is an electricity hog and I may need to conserve electricity during a power outage - exactly the times I'm likely to want to receive alerts! Their reasoning is so that they can tailor their alerts to my location. Why not just permit me to manually enter my location? Or even use cell networks for an approximate location? I uninstalled it.
The app crashes every time I go to FAQ
This app woke me up at 3:30 in the morning to alert me to a freeze warning despite the quiet hours feature being turned on. I like the idea of this app, but I can't let my sleep be disrupted every time there is a freeze warning. If this happens again I will have to uninstall the app. I have notified ping4alerts! of this bug, so hopefully it will be fixed in a future version.
