You can save money using this app by calculating if it is a better buy to get E85 or regular gas. For those unfamiliar, E85 (AKA FlexFuel or ethanol) is a blend of 85% ethanol and 15% gasoline. E85 is not available at all gas stations and not all vehicles are capable of using it. Your vehicle will get less gas mileage running on E85 but E85 is cheaper. According to Wikipedia, E85 has approximately 30% less energy. E85 Calculator will let you know if the price difference is enough to offset the difference in mileage – ultimately telling you which is the better deal.

The concept of this app is simple – you input the average mileage that your vehicle gets for gasoline and E85. If you don’t know the mileage for your vehicle, you can use the look up button and find what your vehicle is rated according to the government fuel economy website (USA info only). Then you input the current price of gasoline and E85. The application will then calculate which is the better deal.
