About Pianobar (Pandora) Remote

Remotely control pianobar (unofficial Pandora radio client, see http://6xq.net/projects/pianobar/) running on a Linux or Mac computer over a Wi-Fi connection. No server software required except for ssh (and pianobar). Pianobar is easy to set up with a proxy server to access Pandora from anywhere in the world.

It supports skip, play/pause (auto-pause on incoming call), multiple servers, volume control, cover art, current station and track/artist/album, loving and banning songs, station list, create and delete stations, progress bar (remaining/total time), next song, getting localized buy links for current album and fetching artist information from last.fm. Mainly tested on Android 2.3.6 (should work on 2.3+). Creds to Naeki-Design@deviantart for icons and Ed for beta testing.

IMPORTANT! Read the install instructions at http://raspberrypiserver.no-ip.org/pianobar_pandora_remote_control.html to set up pianobar, the app will NOT work if it's not properly setup. Please contact me (info on website) if you have any problems/comments/suggestions/encountered bugs etc.

this app is a great idea. I've used pianobar on my pi a lot this summer. What would make this app even better is support for older versions of android, like 2.1 and 2.2. A lot of people will have older android devices sitting around the house as they've upgraded. a good use for an old android phone is a dedicated remote for home automation or for pianobar. In my case I have a phone and a nook touch i would like to install it on.

Great app, love it. By far the most used app on my phone. The detailed setup instructions for configuring pianobar is very helpful. Like the simplistic nature of the app while still providing all features. Consistently works. I was happy to find using the volume keys on the phone changed the volume on the piano-bar as well (Advertising this feature would be useful). Heartfelt thanks for the app :) :) Couple feature requests: - I have multiple piano-bar setups (living room, bed room). Would love if the app had the ability to remember multiple setup information and specify which one to use. - User configurable setting for resume on ending the call. Bugs: Going from landscape to portrait mode results in the app trying to re-login over ssh and temporarily not displaying station info.

Read the tutorial on the web site. Some configuration required on the server side but well documented.

I am using this to control pianobar on my Raspberry Pi. I followed the directions from the website and it works perfectly. Thanks so much for creating this. The only thing I would still like is a simple description of what each button does on the screen, this should also help new users.

A wonderful Android interface to pianobar. Good adaptability with the FIFO. Love that it pauses the stream when my phone rings. Is it supposed to resume playback at the end of the call?

I'm using an Asus Transformer T300/Android 4.0 as the client and a Fedora 18 linux box as the server. Works perfectly! Also, the setup instructions are excellent.

I've put Pianobar on a Raspberry Pi, running headless and feeding into my house audio system. This app does everything I need to control the Pi - great work, thanks :)

All I wanted was a headless Pandora player that I could control with my phone and/or tablet. After trying with Raspbmc and squeezelite installs on my Raspberry Pi, I installed PIanobar and use this app to control it. After getting it all working, it's been great. Thank you for developing this and sharing it.

Great app, but the server installation is a bit tricky. It's best to install the server from source, look for instructions on instructables com. It's very easy to install the server. Great application! I LOVE it.

I'm waiting for my Pi to be delivered, but I connected this app to my Linux box and it works perfectly! The only enhancement I can think of is an android "tablet" version with bigger buttons/lists. On a related note, "pianobar," the backend technology for this, is the *only* high-bitrate open source Pandora client. If you subscribe to pandora, pianobar is a must. Edit: New version deserves another star - but I can't rate this with six stars! Works even better on Tablets now (hpslate7), seems more stable as well.

If you have any problems with this app start piano bar from the console. For some reason this app had thrown it into a tizzy. It started listed the stations a dozen tomes tried playing some stuff etc. I killed it and it loaded just fine after that.
