Physiotherapy is a branch of modern medical science, it is a physiotherapeutic system of medicine which includes examination, treatment, advice and instructions to any person preparatory to or for the purpose of or in connection with movement dysfunction, bodily malfunction, physical disorder, disability, healing and pain from trauma and disease, physical and mental conditions using physical agents including exercise, mobilization, manipulation, mechanical and electrotherapy, activity and devices for diagnosis, treatment and prevention.
Physiotherapy helps recover from injury. It reduces pain and stiffness, and increase mobility. A physiotherapist also helps you prevent further injury by understanding your body mechanics and working on it.
Pain a sensation that makes human life miserable. Injury minor or major to any body tissue or joint leads to pain. Analgesics that we take in daily life help reduce only the symptomatic pain whereas the cause of pain/injury remains untreated. PHYSIOTHERAPY treats not only pain but also gives cure to the cause of the pain.
Physiotherapists (or physical therapists) - using judgment and techniques based on education, science and research - work on patients to reduce pain, walk and move freely after injury, recover mobility after illness or surgery, manage chronic diseases like arthritis and diabetes, and much more. Your physiotherapist will work with you to put together a treatment plan for your condition or injury, so that you can get back to enjoying life and the activities you love.
As first contact practitioners, a doctor's referral is not necessary to see a physiotherapist. Physiotherapists, doctors, and other health professionals will often work as part of a team to plan and manage treatment for a specific condition.
Physiotherapists work with clients of all ages and with a wide range of health conditions. From pain management of acute sprained ankles to rehabilitation of chronic conditions as diabetes mellitus and Cardiac disorders.
Physiotherapy is not limited to rehabilitation of injury and the effects of disease or disability. A physiotherapist also provides education and advice for health promotion, disease and injury prevention.
