Philips Sonicare For Kids for Android
The app is horrible. First of all, most of the time it can't detect their toothbrushes with the blue tooth. Kind of defeats the whole purpose. Second, you can have multiple kids use it, but if one kid uses a prize, like the ability to dye the sparkly a new color, it'll do it to both, even if the other kid doesn't want it. The app was a big reason we got these expensive toothbrushes and it's useless.
App works ok. My child likes it. My chief complaint is that profiles are not able to be pulled up on multiple devices. If my child uses another phone, it doesn't link to her account, just the phone.
The kids love it, but the app is very buggy and frustrating. I have twins, who each want their own profile but the app keeps linking them together so that whatever happens in one profile makes changes in the other. It has happened three times now. Edit: Now the bluetooth drops connection multiple times during brushes. It takes five or ten minutes just to complete a two-minute session.
You Idiots! This app encourages people to use their devices in environments that increase the risk for water damage! To make matters worse in order to pair your toothbrush, the thing has to be on and flicks water all over my screen! Don't worry though... if water damage wasn't enough then when you have the misfortune of having your 4 year old turn the tooth brush on high while pairing you get the addition of tooth paste flung all over your device. Its clear that with the lengthy connection process that ABSOLUTELY no thought was put into the complete liability this poor excuse for programming is.
Incredibly invasive permissions, failed to properly create parent account/PIN, failed to pair with brush. C'mon Phillips you have to do so much better!!!
After days of attempts and lots of time on hold with customer service, I have given up on the bluetooth feature. I should have read the dozens upon dozens of reviews about this issue. My 5 yo is so bummed!
Terrible couldn't even open the app as had a big on first screen
Keeps saying it cant find my daughters tooth brush very frustrating
Works after re-install, my kid loves it
Works good for me. Galaxy S7. Please add more spray can color rewards. All my daughter gets is food and she's been wanting to change the color for weeks now. It's annoying. But other than that we have zero connectivity issues and this is a great motivator even for kids with autism or sensory issues.
Idea is good. However app is not. Problem connecting Bluetooth. Needs 2 or 3 tries before it works. Also, since last update, the 2 sparkly (one for each of my kids) merged! Now they are fighting since one make changes that the other doesn't like. Also, even if I put in French, the app is sometime switching back to English, and sometime back to French without me intervening. And on top of it, French text seems too long for the canvas of the app, ending sometime outside of the screen!! This shows how well this app has been tested........
Garbage. Huge app (107MB) that is only remarkable in how little it does well. It doesnt connect properly, you can only get the information while you are brushing (ie you cant show your kids the video so they can learn what they are doing and then let them brush), its basically built by folks how have never brushed their teeth or had kids or used a computer. GARBAGE!
The setup and connectivity is complicated and unreliable. I think there is a separate app for the kids to use during brushing and one for parents to use to monitor behavior, but I honestly don't know. I have tried reading all of the supplied instructions and doing my own research. I'm well educated and have set up many devices in my smart home. This thing for children should not be a show-stopper for me, but it has been. After hours of frustration, I'm giving up. Disappointed I bought these toothbrushes expecting it to work with the app as advertised.
If I was Philips I would be ashamed to be associated with this app. Year 2017, 100+ mb and no basic sync across devices, mega slow, giving credit doesn't work. The only reason to buy the more expensive Bluetooth version is the app. With this app it's a waste of money
It is clunky, at best. It fails to connect half the time, the kids profiles get mixed up and the UI gets shifted to the left when you open the menu. Since the last update, it takes *minutes* to start.
Really liked for kids, but... bluetooth never worked so used manual which worked great. Now, a message stating the locator must be turned blocks the app. Such a great concept, just doesnt work
With the recent update, I'm having a couple issues. The timer is stopping while the kids are brushing. If one child changes the color of their sparkly, it changes the other kids too, which is causing arguments!! Please fix it, and I'll come back and change!
This app is a total joke! The Bluetooth connection rarely works, it requires a ridiculous number of permissions (location, contacts, etc.), and they want you to log in with a Facebook account or Phillips account which is pointless because it doesn't sync to a cloud. Once you get a new phone or tablet you lose ALL the progress and data. I would have never bought this toothbrush if I had known how terrible the app is!
I wanted to LOVE this. And we all did for a while... until two things happened. 1: My daughter lost half her hard earned sparkly items and backgrounds. But she was a trooper and didn't mind starting over. 2: After 4 months of collecting stuff, my son's device went bust and we couldn't transfer the app data to another one. That's incredibly discouraging, and its been hard getting him excited about teeth brushing again. He started over on the new device, but its not thrilling anymore, and I'm not sure how long the motivation will last. We started using Chore Monster and putting teeth brushing as one of the chores he can earn points from. Not as fun, but the app supports cloud computing with a login. That way you can have it across all devices. I strongly suggest Sonicare incorporate this to prevent parents from giving up on the app when changing devices. It's such a wonderful idea and the sparkly is so adorable, kids love it. You guys just need sustainability, that or sell the rights to someone who will do it and maybe charge $1 for the app. I'd gladly pay $1 to have it work properly and be able to login from any device. Also, a reporting system that will refund and lost items. Thanks for taking time to read this!
Good toothbrush, but app is total shite. App can never find toothbrush on Bluetooth. Nice try but poor implementation.
Nice app in general, but since a few days one of my kids Sparkly has disappeared and they both see the same one and also changes on it are visible for both.
The app gave black screen after a few days. Reinstall didn't help.
Crashes on load, crazy list of permissions. Useless.
Was working for my two kids but their sparkles have sync like others mention Why? Please help!
Buggy, the app merged the two separate profiles of my kids.
Good idea HORRIBLE execution
Crashes with Android 7.0
Stops working completely
Pretty good it really helped my teeth shine.
Itis the best
This app is a piece of junk. It very rarely syncs with my note 4, and I have to select manual brush. Heck we even own the Sonicare kids brushes it was made for. It wants access to everything on your phone including contacts. There is no reason that would be needed.
App began failing so had to uninstall and then reinstall. So far, so good but we'll see how long it lasts. Parent dashboard not working properly, neither is the submission of credit for brushing when app or toothbrush unavailable (at their dad's house). Could be a great app but the glitches keep it from being so. Update and fix and I can rate it higher. Kids do love using it.
This app is absolutely a piece of garbage and I didn't even buy the damn tooth brush! I was looking for an app for my 7 year old daughter that had a timer and I came across this and she loved it. One day later it kept stopping and closing the app so I cleared data and cache and my daughter's account reset which I knew it would. Again worked for a day and the same thing. Why bother when she has to recreate an account everyday just to use it. Don't waste you time and money people. The app developers should be fired and never work on another app again!
It has helped motivate my kids to brush (ages 4 & 5) and they LOVE dressing up and feeding their Sparkles, but I'm disappointed by limitations. The app won't sync to their brushes, so I have to manually grant credit for brushes unless they brush with the app on. They also only can brush for credit twice a day, and I think they should be allowed at least 3 brushes per day. But, if nothing else, they brush longer and without fights, so I love that!
This app is terrible. Constantly crashes. Need to clear data or reinstall. My child is actually now upset when brushing teeth because the app doesn't work. Seriously considering returning the brush in protest.
huge bug since last update. Both my kids Sparkly are now linked together. They both still have their own minutes and calender but both Sparkly are the same and both change when one does a change and both receive the others gifts. Both now have the same name and both get the same background and color when one does a change. Plus, it is set for French Canadian and it is now in English.
The app keeps messing up. Can not have more than 1 profile. Puts both the profiles together. My kids are very upset!
As mentioned, huge bug with multiple kids sparkly, we have tears almost nightly now waiting for the fix.
This app never works. Sometimes opens. Sometimes syncs. Kids are not happy.

App works great, kid loves to brush. But why does a toothbrush app have the characters like cupcakes on the certificate..how about sticking to only healthy snacks to feed the characters? Trying to sell more product?lol
