Philips Fidelio for Android
I have never hated an app before and that's saying a lot because there are a ton of crappy apps out there. Fidelio has to be THE worst app I have ever used. For one, it's UGLY. It has zero options to control how the app behaves and it constantly tries to take over anytime bluetooth is on. It tries to connect to my car, it tries to connect to my TV and stops the apps that I want to connect to these devices from doing so. he true downside is that I really like my Phillips bluetooth speaker and, as far as I know, you need Fidelio to connect to it. Step it up, Phillips. For such a large company, I would think you would invest more into a quality app that represents your company. One star, because I cant give it negative stars.
I regrat I bought the dock. The app is bad.. Always crashing... I only can use this as a simple speaker. I don't trust this to wake me up in the morning...
My Fidelio E5 is my last Philips purchase. Loyal customer lost because they consistently don't support their products properly any more, in an age when software is as much a part of the product as anything else. 4 apps for one device, none work at all.
Always wants to turn on. Sometimes I can't turn it off. No matter how many times I hit the don't ask again it does. Why do we need an app to work this dock? Got this as a gift and I like the dock but HATE this app.
I love my Phillips speaker, but this app is ridiculous. I have to set my media volume on the lowest setting so my music doesn't blast through my phone speakers when bluetooth decides to disconnect about a million times a day. I want to buy another speaker for home, but at $130 that's never happening until this app works correctly. I won't list all my complaints because they are identical to the rest of the complaints I've read. I'm held hostage by this app if I want to use the speaker, so please fix it!!
Slow, unresponsive, force closes all the time. App starts whenever I charge my phone. Considering returning what is a very good dock purely because of this truly awful app. Please sort this app out asap.
I like the clock radio. Hate that app tries to start when I just need to charge up. Should only do that if I have Bluetooth turned on. Also why can't I move it to my SD card. It takes up too much memory to stay on the phone. EVO original.
I don't need a clock from you Philips. Nor weather. I also don't need you to tell me what music player (Songbird) I must use. What I need from you is to connect my phone to my Philips Fidelio speaker. And precisely that you fail to deliver. You are a huge and well-respected company that delivers awesome products. You can do much better for wireless music. If not, please move aside.
App is a little rough but it gets it done. Music paused once (bluetooth still connected) for no reason. Never had problem with bluetooth disconnecting while alarm set. Bluetooth does auto connect for some reason even tho setting is turned off but this isn't a huge deal to me as I can easily just turn my phoned Bluetooth off
The app pop out everytime I plugged in the USB, no matter it's to my Philip device, or just the charger. Set NO at launch app, doesn't work. Gotta remove it.
Absolute crap! I can't believe how a big company like Philips can screw up this bad! It's like they didn't give a crap about the app. Speaker is good.
This app is WASTE. Philips songbird app no longer available on the market plus it keeps crashing. So Philips has made me realize no to buy any of their products
Installed this app on two Samsung phones, freezes constantly on both. By far the worst app I've ever installed. Unfortunately I need it to work my dock station. Knowing what I know now, I would have never purchased this dock station.
How can an app this bad, with range of hardware still current, have received no updates since January 2012 I bought my £200 dock in September 2012. This software is appalling, bug-ridden rubbish, yet multinational Philips has chosen not to update it since January. Shame on you, Philips. Yes, the streaming works fine without it, but it is required for specific features, such as the hardware EQ, clock and full remote function. Shame on you, Philips. Shame on you.
I've been using my fidelio dock for a while and it works great! However the dockstudio and fidelio app are simply the most horrible apps I've ever used. I wish Philips would take all the best rating into account for once and make an update?!
I like using Android built in Bluetooth controls better than this app for my Philips docking station. I do install this app twice a year when the time changes and whenever else I need to reset the clock. It is stupid easy for that kind of thing.
My Fidelio E5 is my last Philips purchase. Loyal customer lost because they consistently don't support their products properly any more, in an age when software is as much a part of the product as anything else. 4 apps for one device, none work at all.
It sucks. Does not sync properly. Crashes. Won't close when needed. I bought the product from Phillips (clock radio) for my Samsung S4, product barley works because you need this crappy app in order for it to work. You also need song bird app which doesn't work either.
I will admit that most of these reviews nearly made me return the radio unopened, but I'm glad I didn't! It has great sound, great Bluetooth, and can work independently of the phone. The software IS a li'l slow & tricky to navigate, but the pro's outweigh the con's by far to me. I enjoy it. Oh, and it charges the phone…can't beat that!
The only way to set the time on my Bluetooth speaker is through this app. It doesn't sync after being connected for a set time and there is no setting that explicitly syncs the clock on the phone with the clock on the radio. I have used the speaker for nearly a year now and have still not figured out how to set the time with one attempt. This app is so terrible it has kept me from buying Phillips products.
This app is sooo slow. If I press a button I have to wait 10 seconds for anything to happen which is annoying when trying to set an alarm. It crashes on me all the time and I have to force close it. It should tell you how long till your alarm will go off and if it is snoozing. I have thought that I snoozed it and actually turned it off and slept in. Terrible app. Should work like alarmdroid app but with a nice interface like you have tried to create.
This app is so screwed up. When I connect to the docking station it doesn't start up but when I connect to my car it starts or when I take the phone of the docking station it starts. App constantly shows it is running but you can't shut it down. There is just about no setting options.
The radio is a cheap version of Tune-in, apparently. Even though I have a paid version, I must access it separately to use with the dock. When connecting to PC to transfer data - well, I haven't figured that out yet! Software apparently designed by someone who does not use it.
I like the Philips docking station but it doesn't work. Loaded song bird also connected and paired Bluetooth. No sound...disconnect Bluetooth sound. Tried many different times source was set to bluetooth. Also fidelio was coming on and off on its own. And songbird app was pretty worthless for me. Uninstall both! Samsung Nexus
I got it as a birthday gift. We thought the Bluetooth feature would be great, but it disconnects every 20sec or so. It's impossible to get through one song. I have to use the mp3 attachment which is ridiculous.
I love the docking station but the app is terrible. Always tries to hijack any Bluetooth connection i.e. my car. Always running. You have to use the app to change the time on the clock. I install twice a year to change the time for daylight savings then immediately uninstall it.
It has a horrible user interface. The settings menu is useless. Every time I charge my phone it tires to link with the dock regardless of the charger. Even after you have disconnected from the dock the app still runs leaving an icon in the notification bar. This is unnecessary and annoying, and there is no way to remove the icon or turn off the app with out a task killer. If it was possible to use the dock with out the app I would delete it in a heart beat. ZERO STARS- not an option? one star >:( The dock is great though.
To have Philips Bluetooth speaker going i had no choice but to install this rubbish. Always not responding ended up restarting my mobile phone, HTC M9. I regret buying their speaker. Come on Philips you can provide better than this.
I used to like it but recently, it seems to want to crash without ever connecting to my speakers. Waste of time and money! I used to think Philips stuff was good but unless this gets sorted out I'll be uninstalling sharpish!
Dropped from 5 star /3 /now to 1. Since my galaxy s3 update 2 months ago to android 4.3 the program won't boot when docking an freezes the phone, please fix this was actually a good app!!!!
Better since update. This app has a lot of trouble running how it should. So far, in 2 hours use I have had it restarting over and over and being unable to switch off when exited, continually switching on the Bluetooth. Hopefully some fixes will come.
It is only good for pairing up the time and alarms. Once you've done that, go ahead an uninstall this retarded app. It keeps pairing and disconnecting. Over and over again. It's so annoying. It is super buggy and no updates to this app. Waste of my time!
The Android community is desperately in need of third party docks. Even if it was not perfect I was willing to support the Phillips Fidelio system to encourage continued development. Unfortunately, even using the suggestions found here, I found both the hardware and especially the software had too many compromises. It is possible that with the introduction of audio via USB we will see more attempts to enter this space and better products. Phillips should consider opening a Fidelio API for 3rd party devs.
Just recieved the fidelo alarm clock dock. Took multiple tries for the app to find the dock and the dock doesnt charge my phone. And I have to get multiple apps just to use it. Returning to the store and deleting apps now!
I install this every time the clocks change only to sync the clock on my Philips dock. It is awful. Almost always crashes and often doesn't work. I did keep this installed originally when I first got the docking station, but the app would try and take over when connecting to other devices and would crash the phone. Done this on two different handsets. I won't buy a Philips dock again.
The only thing I like about this app is that it connects my phone to my speaker. I've thought about getting the Philips HUE light, but if the app is anything like this, forget about it. Philips says this app is deprecated and I should use another app of theirs, but it's worse than this one. Neither has been updated for over a year and a half. I feel ripped off.
I don't understand the negative reviews, this app and android dock are awesome. In addition to not being an "i" rip off like most of the over priced apple docks, it has a lot of flexibility. Google music streaming through this lovely app to the speaker dock via wireless blue tooth. What's not to like!!???

The one single reason i have this app installed isnt even to show me the time on the display of my clock, its so that insted of having blinking anoying led lights flashing keeping me up all night it shows a time, of witch i have no use for because i have an android, newsflash 100% of ppl complaining about this app have a smartphone, they know the time, they have a music player, they even have their own bluetooth simple use icons, this app is useless and anoying but the blinking lights ruind my sleep.
