Philips CarStudio for Android
Brilliant for everything I want from a car stereo. Slightly buggy on calls. Keeps muting itself and I have to go through disconnecting the Bluetooth and reconnecting it during a call. That needs looking at as well as maybe a change of skin option... reds not my colour for a background! Has the potential to be awesome.
What you all moaning about this app works great on my S3 mini. Never goes tosleep and connects automatically even when Bluetooth switched off. Wish list would be displaying track and artist on USB and music player and folder name
If app is running and you are charging, sets screen timeout to zero seconds, so is unusable (Galaxy S4). If you have bought a Philips head unit, this is actually a paid app and is unacceptable :-( Do the decent thing and fix it please!
There are a couple of things I don't like about this app. One, it alters the brightness but doesn't let you set "auto" brightness. Two, it seems to clear the screen sleep setting so that the screen switches off after a few seconds making it a complete pain to use the phone while running the app.
A good app with good functionality but I have an issue where the phone goes into standby and requires unlocking after a few short seconds. There is no setting to adjust this and I would like a way to override it.
Screen timeout problem can be fixed by installing keep screen on from play store. Would be nice to be able to select music player as Spotify. No support.
The screen time out makes this app nearly impossible to use.. If this was changed it would work perfectly with the head unit...
It runs for a while then will crash needing to be removed and reloaded. The idea is good and works well with large button control. Only other problem is once answered a call it often drops on stereo even though the call is still active so have to use speaker on phone to continue.. would be very happy if those glitches were fixed.. The stereo and phone concept are brilliant thank you
Just installed, now I cannot close it! Never even connected to my stereo so can't comment on functionality. HTC One M8 on Lollipop
Galaxy s5, worked fine for 2 weeks and then yesterday the app just crashed and won't open.
Everytime I open the app it crashes. No updates in weeks and no fix in sight. Horrible.
Fix the usb navigation. Allow it to scroll and display the song id on the phone itself. Allow colours for the background other than red! Please provide firm ware update for the job it itself as well!
Can we please have track id
Worked well for a while, although the user interface is old fashioned and unintuitive. But it started to crash every time I opened it - it's now totally unusable. Shame, I like the car stereo control when it did work.
The app is buggy and featureless, which is a shame because I love the radio. I have started to use Car Home Ultra instead which does a great job of filling in the holes left by this app
PITA no1: why can't I close the app? No2: why no track ID? No3: why doesn't the app control the head unit's volume, just the phone's? No4: Why does it need Bluetooth when it is docked???
For someone such as Philips you would think they would pay far more attention to software and apps etc. The app is weak, it cuts out sounds, it will leave you unable to hear the person on the other end of a phone call. It is bad in so many way that what really offends me is that it has not been up-dated since 2013 so I will be quite happy to change my sound system and send the unit back to Philips. If only I could do a minus star rating! Oh I can in my review, so here it is - FIVE (5) stars ;-)

But needs a major update. The ability to keep my phone awake would be nice. A bit basic also.
Keep the screen on feature. Play lists options. Why when listening to the radio and opening maps does it mute. Music continues if using play list and then go to maps
Great idea, but needs some additional work. Brightness setting issues and an Inability to keep the screen on which is dangerous when you need to enter pin code to change the track. Also could do with an option to auto load on bluetooth connection rather than power. I don't want it running when I dock my phone at the desk.
And I'm still not clear what I would do with it if it did.
The only real problem im having is everytime the app starts it sets my screen time out to 0 secs. Other than that a pretty good app that works well.
About time a car stereo came on the market for android phones. This app is a great addition and takes the place of the stereo screen. Connects every time via Bluetooth. It allows me to easily make calls, charge my phone, change station/track but it does not have a "stay awake" feature so my phone goes in to standby every 30 seconds. If it had this feature i would have given it 5 stars.
Used to work OK, but is now useless since Android 4.3.
App stopped working again.
Crashes as soon as I open it. Unit was a bit of an impulse purchase, doesn't let the phone I have slide in as some do. I use the in built player in the phone to control the playlist. Only good thing is it still charges the phone but with a ballistic case on it doesn't fit any more! App rubbish, stereo ill conceived .
It's very buggy, turns my phone's auto brightness off constantly (which can result in not being able to see anything on the phone screen) and switches input when I don't want it to. There's no way to change default audio app after initial setup, so can't change to a new one. Can't search USB for music files and it doesn't work with my iPod. Update, please, or I'll have to return the head unit as faulty! This is an integral part of the unit and it simply doesn't work properly. I'd give zero stars if I could!
Hasn't worked in a while
The fact the you HAVE to use this app to get anything out of a car stereo is ludicrous. If I had known I wouldn't have bought the device and definitely will not buy Phillips again.

Good app but it needs some updates.
App crashes as soon as run on a Galaxy S5.
Overall this app is ok, but needs an update to correct a few issues. It cuts out music when I want to use the navigation, and in some screens there is no back or home button, so I have to use the small buttons on my phone. That defeats the purpose of using in the car. Also, the Bluetooth does drop out occasionally, but for general usage it isn't bad.
First time used there was an icon to take you to presets for the sound from the stereo. So set my stereo up as I wanted it. Since the first use the icon has disappeared and I can not change the sound. Uninstall and reinstall has not helped. Fix please!
It's a nice app for connecting your phone to the stereo but really needs the ability to search usb, I have a 64gb drive in mine, trying to navigate through artists is a hassle!
It worked amazingly in my HTC One SV, but it constantly crashes in my new Huawei Ascend G6, which runs a newer version of Android. Such a shame, given that I love the concept and I loved how it used to work!
Since my update the app won't even open on my One X..... it won't allow me to close the app unless I force close and some of the features are a bit clunky.
Since my S4 upgraded it's firmware the screen turns off after 1 second, this app is now useless. I'll change my rating when or if it gets fixed !!! Finally fixed, now changed to 4 stars. Not perfect yet but at least it's now use able site the instant screen dim has been fixed
