About Music Notation

A music notation and composition application to compose scores with multiple staves, primarily aimed at tablets, though also useful on larger phones.

The free version is a demo - it allows you to explore all the features of the app, but you must purchase the full version to be able to save your work.

This is a first release and does not contain all the features I intend it to have, but I believe it has enough functionality to be useful.

If it lacks a feature you require, or it has a bug, please contact me before leaving a negative rating and I will work to fix it. As a solo developer, I don't have the resources to test on all available devices, so your feedback is very important. If you do like it, please leave a positive rating - this is very important for search results and rewarding the work I've put in, and costs you just a few seconds of your time!

I tried several before this because they had higher ratings, but this one turns out to be the best. Why not 5 stars? I bought the up grade and sometimes it locks up on my Samsung Galaxy tab S2 and it's auto save doesn't always work. It lost parts of some of my compositions. Now I save as jpeg and send it to MS one note just in case it happens again.

Only one exception if you can fix it. On my Lenovo tablet TAB A7-40 FL3500 the transport bar and undo/redo functions overlap, so I cannot press play to start playng.

I think this is one of the best music notating app ever, user-friendly and good interface. But I want to know how to put beams in notes, and fix minor bugs that cannot respond sometimes when I touch the screen and executing task. My phone using is Korean Samsung Galaxy Note II. Good job

It's pretty well made but there are a few bugs that kind of break it for me. One being that a base clef will sometimes sound the same as a treble clef when using the piano (maybe others as well). Please fix this, developers.

I love this product. I have some old music of my grandmother's that is on sheet music that I am transferring to audio. My only frustrations is that it automatically wants to connect all 1/8 notes with bars, but I like the separated look. Is there a way to change that?

Tested it on a note 4 and loved it! I'll purchase the pro version as soon as an export/import music xml feature is added, since I need it to be able to work on same file on my laptop. Congratulations on this excellent app, dev! Response is on the slow side, sometimes, but that's a small price to pay to have such a fine app working on a phone.

It was difficult to believe that I really can keep going with my work just with one app on my tablet. It was beyond my expectation definitely. I export my work to a MIDI file and i can review, edit and keep composing or arranging on the PC, that's something!

I purchased the full version yesterday and tried using it. It really worked well and was intuitive as well, didn't take much time to learn how to notate. But i ran into a problem. I wanted to make a longer piece but it seemed the bars wouldn't extend over some extent. After notating about one page, 'adding new bar' function didn't work at all. Is there any length limit of a new file? If so, how could i make a longer piece? If not, how could i add new bars when clicking the bar line icon doesn't work?

Much kudos for making a useable phone notation app. It could do with a graphic designers eye over it, it looks a bit ugly, but for jotting down ideas on the go, great! I haven't looked at the community aspects yet but it would be good if there was something like that.

Of the notation programs and apps I've tried this has the most user friendly interface. Looking forward to your updates as the app can be a little temperamental. Otherwise, good job!

I couldn't find some functions. Could you please let me know how to find them? Or if not yet existing, please include to your next update: "To/al Coda" / repeat bar: more than 1 repetition (for songs with more than 2 verses) / group staves to systems / play and save single staves within a system (single voices within a system)

Using Samsung Note Pro v5.0.2. Having played with the app most of the day I am getting the problem of losing bars after adding additional instruments to a previously saved score. I had written a duet, for violin and horn, but when I went to add a 2nd violin part, the last 3 bars of the piece had vanished. However, when I played back the piece, it was complete - despite not seeing the missing bars. Any ideas please? Today I've tried writing some music but the app will not let me expand any further than 25 bars when working with three instruments!? When working with one instrument only, the maximum amount of bars I managed to get was 99.

I understand the need for developers to make money but I was away from home and needed to do a sketch of a tune. As you can't save anything before you buy it this app was useless for me.

D70%
by D####:

I have to use a stylus, and it's a little clunky, but I can write triplets and write a two clef piece, unlike a free music composer I downloaded. I may have to purchase the full version.

The app is so sluggish on my Samsung Galaxy Tab2 7" tablet that it is practically nonresponsive. Nothing works. Uninstalled.

I've been using the app for a while now & am getting good results from it. There are a few things that I've got to learn yet but overall I'm very pleased with the app. The developer is to be congratulated on a fine piece of work.

5 stars because this is by far the best notation app for Android. Thanks! Question: Can beams follow the contour of the note heads as they should, or must they always run parallel to the staff? (I don't really care for that 'square' look).

An app that let's me writes music on the go and doesn't crash or bugs out. I don't need some big laptop anymore either to carry around if I get inspired either!!!

Little difficult to get to terms with but once you've spent some time getting to know the system is really useful

You can't save anything without buying the full version! You might as well not have a demo version!

More intuitive than the other notation apps I've tried. Haven't tried exporting or saving cross platform, but it's working well as a composition tool.

Very simple to make music score and transpose it, finaly print it out pdf or jpg! Great job!

It had real potential, but it just didn't work. I couldn't do anything. It didn't respond to anything. I spent money on this for the full version and i would like it back. This is awful.

I am studying music composition in college and i though using a mobile software could be useful. I have never been more wrong. This app is extremely difficult to use as many of the features are unresponsive, such as trying to slur or tie notes together. Honestly, this is one of the worst purchases I've ever made.

This is a great app for music lovers. Lots to learn and loaded with features. Great job!

Went pro, worth it. Perfect for my musicianship class! Great work.

K70%
by K####:

I compared many music composer apps and found this is the best in terms of usability and functions. So, I have pro version now for more use. But I found 3 major issues expecting the fixes sooner. 1) consuming too much CPU and my android device gets heated up. 2) UI speed is getting sluggish. Sometimes all notes are erased suddenly in such sluggish state. 3) too difficult to avoid the unwanted note input when scrolling screen up and down.
