قرآن (Quran in Farsi)
قرآن کتاب آسمانی دین اسلام است. به باور مسلمانان قرآن به صورت وحی از سوی خداوند نازل گردیده و «معجزه محمد» و یکی از موارد اشاره شده در حدیث ثقلین است. در باور مسلمانان، این کتاب در یک دورهٔ ۲۳ ساله از جانب خدا و از طریق جبرئیل بر محمد، که او را آخرین پیامبر می‌خوانند، فروفرستاده شده‌است.
قرآن دارای دو ویژگی خاص است: یکی این که از جانب خدا بر محمد امین نازل شده و دیگری این که جنبه خارق‌العاده بودن و معجزه بودن در آن رعایت شده است. بنابراین تمام آن چه بر محمد امین نازل شده (وحی)، قرآن نیست، بلکه بخشی از آن به نام حدیث قدسی شناخته می‌شود که از جانب پروردگار آمده اما از ادبیات خارق‌العاده‌ای برخوردار نیست.
قرآن دارای ۳۰ جزء، ۱۱۴ سوره و ۶۲۳۶(عدد کوفی)=۶۲۲۶(عدد شامی)=۶۲۱۴(عدد مدنی)=۶۲۰۴(عدد بصری) آیه است

به باور کسانی که به فرازمینی بودن این کتاب اعتقاد دارند «قرآن رساترین بیان است و از نظر موسیقی و وزن لفظی، در لغات و جملاتش نشانه‌های وحیانی ربانی مشهود است. وزنش نه وزن شعر است نه نثر، بلکه هر دو و برتر از هر دو است، در حدّی که در توان غیر خدا نیست، وزن و لفظ آن به گونه‌ای تناسب و انسجام با معنا دارد که گوئی معناهایش در آن تجسم یافته است.»

نام‌های قرآن
اسامی قرآن، از جمله امتیازاتش این است که چه اسم‌های خود قرآن و چه اسم‌هایی که قرآن برای اشخاص یا برای بلاد معین کرده‌است، دارای معانی خاص و مناسب با مسمّایش می‌باشد. برخلاف اسمایی که صرفاً از نظر لفظی اسم است ولی از نظر معنوی اسم نیست. چون اسم به معنای علامت است. علامت یا یک بعدی است مثل زید، که فلان شخص است، اما معنای زیدیّت در او اصلاً مطرح نیست. گاهی اوقات، هم از نظر لفظی اسم است و هم از نظر معنوی، مثل الله، اِله، رحمن، رحیم، اسماء ذات، اسماء صفات، اسماء فعل که تماماً هم از نظر لفظی، اشاره و علامت است و هم از نظر معنوی. سایر اسماء قرآن ـ که حدود چهل اسم در قرآن آمده ـ همه چنین است. از جمله:کتاب، قرآن، فرقان، مبین، بیان، تبیان، برهان، عظیم، عزیز، کریم، صراط مستقیم، حکم، ذکر، موعظه، نور، روح، مبارک، نعمت، بصائر، رحمت، حق، فصل، هادی، شفا، هدی، تنزیل، مُهین، قیّوم، بشیر، نذیر، حدیث، نجوم، حبل، مثانی و

ساختار
ساختار اصلی قرآن -توقیفی- شامل؛ سوره (114 سوره) و بصورت خردتر، آیه (کلا 6236 آیه) می باشد و مشهورترین ساختار قراردادی با حفظ تناسب تقسیم قرآن به سی جزء مساوی از نظر حجم می باشد.
سوره در واژه به معنای «بُریده شده» است و در اصطلاح واحدی است دربرگیرندهٔ گروهی مستقل از آیات قرآن که مَطلَع «بسم‌الله‌الرحمن‌الرحیم» و مقطعی دارد. به اعتقاد شیعیان هر سورهٔ قرآن - جز سورهٔ توبه - با آیه «به نام خداوند بخشندهٔ مهربان» آغاز می‌شود. اهل سنت «بسم‌الله» را جزء سوره نمی‌دانند. در قرآن کلمهٔ «سوره» به همین معنا به کار رفته‌است؛ مانند در آیهٔ تحدی (مبازره طلبی)
قرآن ۱۱۴ سوره دارد. هر سوره می‌شود یک یا چند نام داشته باشد که بیشتر از کلمه‌ای از آن سوره و یا رخداد ای مربوط به آن گرفته شده‌اند. برخی بر این باورند ترتیب سوره‌ها بدست پیامبر تعیین شده و برخی بر این باورند که آنها به هنگام گردآوری در زمان عثمان کما بیش به ترتیب درازای مرتب شده‌اند. سوره‌های قرآن به دو دستهٔ مکی (فروفرستاده شده در مکه) و مدنی (فروفرستاده شده در مدینه) تقسیم می‌شوند. سوره‌ها لزوماً یگانگی موضوعی ندارند. نام رایج و شمار آیات هر یک در انتهای این نوشتار آمده‌است. برای مشاهده فهرست نام سوره‌ها و شمار آیات آنها به نوشتار سوره رجوع کنید.

قرآن ۱۱۴ سوره دارد. سورهٔ ۹ قرآن سوره توبه «بسم الله الرحمن الرحیم» ندارد ولی سورهٔ ۲۷ قرآن یعنی سورهٔ نمل ۲ «بسم الله الرحمن الرحیم» دارد. طولانی‌ترین سوره قرآن سوره بقره است که دربرگیرنده ۲۸۶ آیه‌است. کوتاه‌ترین سوره قرآن هم کوثر با ۳ آیه‌است.
آیه
آیه در واژه به معنی نشانه‌است و در اصطلاح کوچک‌ترین واحد تقسیم قرآن است. این واژه در قرآن به همین معنای ویژه نیز به کار رفته‌است. یک آیه می‌تواند چند حرف، چند واژه، یک یا چند جمله و یا یک یا چند بند (پاراگراف) باشد. بر پایه محاسبهٔ رایانه‌ای شمار همه آیات قرآن ۶۲۳۶ تا است.
