Recipe, Menu & Cooking Planner for Android
I have been looking for an app that does just what this app does. It allows you to add your food recipe. With your recipes you can plan your entire meals and add them to a calendar. Also you can add your meal right to a shopping list. From your shopping list you can look in the house cross out what you dont need and hit the grocery store. The shopping list is very organized. But the app doesnt always open and thats a problem when your shopping :(
I use pepperplate online and so far I love it! I can store my own recipes easily, I do wish more websites were supported (one of my fave is skinnymom) otherwise it helps keep me organized, healthy and helps save on money (less random store outings) . But the app won't allow me to sign on via FB, someone please help, phone app convince would be so nice!
My wife and I love the app. Very useful for menu planning and shopping. Have used for months with no problem. I love the shopping list & once you get a good collection of recipes, it's great. I wish you could add recipes in app on mobile, but I figured out you can do so on your mobile browser. Some "suppoted" recipe sites do not import properly. Also app always automatically closes when first opened on my galaxy s5, then opens fine on second attempt
I love this app! I can very easily put my recipes into the Recipe List and then use that to plan menus using the Planner. This has saved me money because I do not forget what I have stored in the freezers. We live somewhat in the country so it does take a bit to go to the store. Also, we shop for many things at warehouse stores including meat. By planning meals I can stop our eating out as often.
I ♥ that this app syncs across all my devices. The shopping list feature is great! I just bring it to the grocery store with me on my phone and tick off the items as I put them in my shopping cart. If I could add recipes to my collection via an applet on my Android phone, and if the screen wouldn't go to sleep while I'm cooking (only a prob on my phone, not my tab) I'd give it one more star.
I love to use recipes I have seen cooked rather than a pictured recipe to try. This app allows me all the flexibility I need to input my own recipe favourites, made sooooo much easier by inputting on my laptop and having them accessible on my phone. No limit to recipes I can add to my free web account, the only issue is with the categories/filter search, but that's a small issue I'm sure will be resolved in the future. An option to backup all the recipes in my account would also useful. Very easy to use.
Had this app for a a few days and was really liking it. Very impressed with the layout, easy of entering a recipe and the ability to import from some websites. I also really like the ability to access from a computer as well. Sadly today my phone had a hiccup and had to reinstall the app, but now can't login with Facebook. The apps tries to login, but then fails and goes back to the login screen. I can still access my recipes from a computer, but not the app.
I used this app about a year ago and I loved it on my Windows machine and my Android phone. Stopped using it for a bit but then came back when I started getting into the cooking thing again and now the Facebook login from my Android phone Galaxy 6 Edge no longer works. Windows app still great however not much use if I can't sync to my phone. Please advise
Great functionality and very convenient. This app has been very well thought out. I've used this app for over a year and have not run into any issues. One thing I like to use it for is to store my dinner party menus and keep notes on who was there, which recipes were a success and which ones were mediocre, etc. Please do not ever shut it down.
This is a fantastic app, which I have been using on my iPhone for a long time until an update caused the app to constantly crash upon opening. Just switched from iPhone to Android and figured I would try the app out again to see if it would work this time... and it does!! So far have been able to download all my recipes, opened a few and the app hasn't crashed once. So happy to be able to use this great app again!!
When I first installed on my android, I loved this app. I logged on with Facebook to start. Then I was logged off and cannot log onto the app again with Facebook on either my phone or tablet (both Android). I don't want to create a new profile because I don't want to lose my recipes. I tried to change my email address in my profile so I could log on that way...But it does not allow you to do that. If this glitch is fixed, I will love the app again amd will change my review.
I have used this app for several months. I especially like being able to load recipes from my favorite cooking sites. It was convenient and easy to use at first. But now I have to click on the icon numerous times before it actually opens and stays open. Then I scroll down my recipes and it closes, repeatedly. I have to "search" for the recipe in order to get it to come up. This has been happening for weeks and I am about ready to uninstall and find another app.
Wow! This has been a lifesaver for meal planning, something I was struggling with. The website is a tiny bit more functional than the app and occasionally the app just quits but I can live with it. This is an excellent tool for storing and accessing recipes and I love that it has an integrated shopping list. High five to the devs who came up with this idea!
So I've been collecting recipes for years and finally have decided to go ahead and digitize them. I read that this app was in the top five and I really enjoyed the layout. However I got 2 recipes in and the app crashed. And now when ever I try to reopen (after turning it off and on again,) I'm still not getting in. :(
I have been using pepperplate for years, and would rate the program 5 stars. The app drags it down a bit though. The phone app has a lot less functionality than the web version and I have to do a full uninstall/reinstall every few months when it stops working. Even still, the app is great for the shopping list (easy to edit) and for being able to quickly check a recipe for ingredients on the fly. Pepperplate itself is the best free recipe manager out there!
I love the interface and design, and I despise the implementation and database. I'd easily pay $10 a month for a database that didn't corrupt every time I blink at it. If I have items in the shopping list when I customize the aisles, the edited aisles vanish from the list, and I have to clear the list and start over. I had an account in which deleted recipes still showed up in searches. I asked for help, and I was told that they'd work on it. That was a year ago. I made a separate account under a different email. I shared the recipes I use most from the original account to the new one. Now a search of an ingredient shows no results at all. I love the design, but I have to have an app that actually works!
I love Pepperplate on my computer and would love to be able to access it on my LG G2 but the Facebook log in functionality for Android DOES NOT WORK. Every time I try to log in to the app, it flashes to FB and then back to the Pepperplate log in screen. I've contact Pepperplate support and the suggested fixes don't work either. Would give 5 stars if I could use it I'm sure but since I can't even log in, 1 star.
I had an issue logging in with Facebook on the mobile app. I was finally able to log in by using my Facebook email address and password. Once I got into the app I was able to navigate and see all the information I had loaded on from my desktop. The app did a force quit and I haven't been able to reopen it. I am using a galaxy s3, a fix would be great! In the meantime I plan to just go to the website through my browser.
Unfortunately 90% of my recipes are from Cooking Light (MyRecipes) and the import function for that site stopped working about 6 months ago. They said they were "working" on a solution, but months later it still doesn't work. I've now invested years of recipes into an app that I can no longer use...
Pepperplate offers a web interface (excellent at clipping recipes from most sites). One issue, however, is that we're not able to edit shopping list items in the app, only quantities. I have to re-enter the item and delete the previous entry.
I use this on ipad but whenever I try to login via Facebook to sync my shopping list it just returns to the login screen. I contacted customer support who never replied. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling numerous times. There is also no clear way to add a pepperplate login and password to my Facebook linked ipad account which would at last have allowed a workaround.
Like others in here I could not open the app. I deleted and downloaded again. My next issue is that I could not sign in with Facebook. I could sign in with an email but I already had an account on my computer with a Facebook login so I couldn't sync them! I contacted pepperplate and they changed my Facebook login to my email and now I'm all synced up! Love, love, love this app!
I love this app. Works great across my phone, tablet and pc. Has taken all the stress out of meal planning. Be great if you could copy and paste between the days, otherwise I love it. Not had any problems. The ease of adding recipes from other sites is brilliant.
Love this app on desktop pc and laptop, but can't log in on my phone. I created account with Facebook, but I always get bounced back to sign in page after I give app permission to access friends list etc.
Tons of potential here, and for a while it worked alright, but... it's clear that the developer has abandoned this product, as it slowly falls apart. What a shame! If some effort went into maintenance and improved features, I'm sure users would pay a few bucks for it. Time to find something else, I guess.
After the initial log in, I'm unable to open the app. It also does not sync 100% with my account that I've updated on my laptop. I previously used this app on an iPhone and had no problems. Very disappointing to not be able to use it on my new droid
Wont even open the app now.... You have to do ALOT on the laptop website. The app really doesn't do anything other than show things. You cannot add recipes to the shopping list or add recipes. Good idea but needs work!
Used to love it...but all the recent changes make it more work than just writing list myself. Used to be able to easily import recipes, now it's a copy paste job, if that will even work. App is great, just getting stuff into it is a pain now. Sad, because it used to be awesome, but I've given up as their tech support doesn't seem to care either.
Help! I am able to use this app on my tablet but when I try to sign in on my phone (through Facebook), it briefly goes to Facebook to sign in, and then flashes back to the Pepperplate login screen. My Facebook login works on every device except this one. I don't really feel like taking my laptop or tablet grocery shopping with me...
I just got the app and can't open it. I click on the icon to open. It takes me to the logo screen and then closes. Never opens up completely. Would have liked to try it.
Am I missing something? Why can't we add recipes from supported sites on the app? Also, none of the recipes I added on my desktop app are appearing in my phone. So no synching at all so far. What is up? Functionality that looks like it is there is not.
Was doing great, I'm inputting my recipes. This is exactly what I've been looking for, but now I'm hitting a glitch. When I select one of my recipes the app closes. Please fix, I am really looking forward to using this app!!
I was enjoying this app so much, but after I entered my fourth recipe, it shut down and now won't open again. Please please fix and I will give 5 stars.
Been using app for years, but recently lists are not syncing properly. I set everything up on my laptop then use my phone when I'm at the grocery store, but app does not sync my shopping list that I just spent so much time on.
Took me 15 minutes just to copy and paste 2 recipes. The formatting doesn't paste in correctly and you have to go back and manually between each ingredient and step in the directions. Half way through the second recipe, the program force closed and I had to start that recipe over. Force closed 3 more times then I gave up. Tried My Cookbook which imports the recipe by entering the site address. Imported 6 recipes within minutes.
I am in need of something like this now I don't always have to use a notebook to write down my recipes thanks for the app
Not able to log in through Facebook. I already have all my recipes stored in my Fb linked account and I don't want to loose them.
The app will open but when I try to login with Facebook it flashes the app logo but nothing happens. I tried to sign-up in hopes I could sync with my Facebook account but there was no option. The web based site works well.
There is some functionality that is missing. I'd say the main thing is the ability to share the shopping lists. Real bummer that we can't do that.

Great design, great idea, BUT...... I will not use it due to lack of functionality (already switched to Food Planner). There is only one, BIG reason - the recipes ingredients list are not integrated completely with shopping list. If an ingredient exists in more than 1 recipe, when I generate the shopping list, the same ingredient will appear as many times as the ingredient is mentioned in the recipes. For example, if I have 1 egg in the breakfast, 1 egg for the soup and 1 egg in the main dish, the list will look like this: 1 egg 1 egg 1 egg Imagine what happens if I try to summarize and generate a weekly menu shopping list! :) Once this is solved, and the shopping list starts working as a pivot table (3 eggs), i will get back to the app. Until then, I'd stick with Foodplanner
