Gutenberg Books

I really appreciate the Gutenberg Project and what they stand for -- taking old books with expired copyrights and putting them online for free. However, the app isn't the best, often loading slowly, and downloads often simply don't work properly. Fix these and I will change to a 5-star review.

What once was a good app is currently broken. The home screen shows a spinning pinwheel that's stuck in an infinite loop, when it should be showing a catalog of books to read. Downloads fail no matter what and with one of two error messages (claims there isn't enough space when there is enough space, and then claims there is a server error, which is probably accurate). More strangely, I was just prompted by this broken app to upgrade to Gutenbooks Pro for free in a limited time offer, and all I had to do was click Yes when asked if I left it a good review. And after lying about that to get Pro, the downloads still don't work. Uninstalled.

This is simply the best app available to book lovers of public domain literature. I'm so thankful to Gutenberg for providing this vast wealth of books in such an easily accessible format. A library at my fingertips!

Just installed it, and I haven't tried it fully yet, but the software insist for the user to give a review so here is my review. I dont know anything about this software

Error message every time I tried to download a book, kept retrying until I was told I was out of downloads without successfully downloading even one.

I have a Samsung Tab 8 less than 2 years old. The app itself downloaded, but nothing from the app would download. Looks like it would have been nice, but it obviously does have compatibility issues with some android devices.

I love the Gutenberg project and the wealth of books it has to offer. The app has a simple interface but still needs some work. Overall happy with the app

Would not load anything in app for me at all. Pretty disappointing.

I was visiting the Gutenberg website for years, this app is a bonus. But out crashes a lot and I suspect malware.

Would be much better if it would store it's stuff on sdcard instead of filling main storage. Or at least the books.

Excellent source of ebooks. The app is not the slickest out there, but given all the free content, it still gets 5 stars from me!

Useless, doesn't even load.

As a lover of classical literature, this is perfect for when I don't have a physical copy on hand.

Great selection of books, would benefit from scroll inertia and language filter for search

I have followed this site for many years, anyone who loves to read I tell them about this.

If using another book reader the cover does not appear. Not a serious problem. Needs book marks. Lots of classic books to choose from. ????

I want to open gutenbergpro because it has essays by and about Rudyard Kipling which I have never seen anywhere else.

they asked me to give review to unlock pro .... anyways i have been using pg for years so i know it is good

Love the Gutenberg Project, and the app is perfect to read on the go, standing in lines, whenever one can find a few minutes.
