Pebblebee: Honey & Stone for Android
So I liked their idea and supported them on Kickstarter. However this app is crap. The battery unit often falls out of the metal holder. Then because the app gets closed by the OS (never before did I want any app to want one to stay active) the alert it was left behind never happens. It has 2 flaws the Pebblebee itself and the app that supports it. 5 rings of waste I can't give them away it's so bad.
In our family we have an iphone 6 plus, a Samsung Note 4, and a Yoga 10 tablet. Could not get either of the two Pebblebee Honeys I bought to work on any of the devices. Besides the money, quite a bit of wasted time spent on this product.
Moto 4G 2016 phone. I work as a software engineer in test for mobile QA Android. This is my QA opinion. Pros: devices are asthetically pleasing. Led and sound work great. Cons: App logs me out randomly. I suspect it's the life cycle onDestroy() but could also be a memory leak. I want to really like this product and it's innovation but if it's off when I need it, that defeats the purpose. Good luck Peeblebee...I know it's tough with so many devices in the ecosystem. P.S. if you need an alpha tester to help improve the stability, just let me know, I'd love to help. :)
If you are having issues detecting your pebblebee with the app, after installing the app, head to your app list, in your settings of your phone, find the pebblebee app, and force stop. Then reopen the app and try to reconnect, it worked for me. The only thing I didn't like is it has its own camera feature to take photos with versus using your own camera app, wish I could use my own.
Terrible, even the core functions of locating and sounding the phone alarm don't perform properly. Wanted to support the idea but resorted to buying Tile to replace pebblebee. Disappointing.
I don't want to say these are awful yet, but my experience with them hasn't been great at our house with an LGv20, Samsung S7, Axon 7, LeEco Pro 3. Maybe it works better on iOS. 1) Finder click to find phone doesn't seem to work unless the App has recently been opened on the phone. So if you plan ahead and know you are about to lose your phone, and remember to open the app, you should be ok. 2) App map showing last finder location again only seems to remember the last location recorded while the app was open. So, when I misplaced my keys on Sunday, the app showed my keys being at the bar which is where I had last opened the app to show my friends how it worked. 3) App click to find the finder really seems to require being right on top of the finder to get it to work. Practically useless. I have been very the disappoint.
Junk. With my note5 the pebble bee honey loses connection at a range of 10m and refuses to reconnect, even if I'm within half a metre of the pebble bee. Simply useless. Do NOT but these Dr devices for use with Android. So bad it's close to a scam.
This is a review of the app, not the device itself. I have now discovered that the device is pretty good and does what it's supposed to - but sadly the app does not work on all devices. Well, it loads up *but* you may find (as I did) that connectivity to your pebblebee device(s) is(are) intermittent at best. I found that it works perfectly fine on an older Nexus 4, as well as the IOS version on an iPad air, but it refuses to connect reliably when running on my Galaxy S7. I am sure that this is a bluetooth BLE problem that frankly may be more a Google than Pebblebee issue - but the end result is you may find that the app is not going to work for you. Or it might. On my Nexus it's a strong 4 stars. On my S7 it doesn't work reliably so it's a 1. Overall, I'd give it a 2 and have my fingers crossed that the BLE issues will be resolved sometime soon so I can use it on my S7 - at which point I will happily update my score! *update* Yay. V487 update included bug fixes, one of which appears to have done the trick with my S7. Very happy now! Thanks guys.
Well it does need lots of work on it without a doubt it tells me my dog is a street away when he is in my lap and sometimes does not work when my dog is in the same house as me I would prefer buying a new device that will work better
-10 stars. The app is a waste of space. The Pebblebee team break promises. No open source, no IFTTT for the Honey, no tasker plugin, no API, no battery life, no product worth having. Pebblebee will not survive as a company outside of Kickstarter and Indigogo. Buyers beware. EDIT: Open source and IFTTT were stretch goal No4 and 5 of the Kickstarter campaign. The Tasker plugin was something Pebblebee said they would add in the campaign comments. EDIT: Review refresh with every new version of your software. This hardware and software combo is absolutely useless.
I thought P.B. was going to be a better product than Tile. Bought 3 Tiles & the batteries ran out in three months. Suppose to last 1 yr., Lost $75. Can't replace batteries. PB has same features as Tile but u can replace the batteries. Bought 2 of these. Found out the app does not work. False reading on location of my keys. Gives my last location one block away the day before. When my keys r sitting in the other room. Drove 80 mi. coming back home. Gave it a test and tells me its sitting near a freeway. The keys r with me. Misplace cell. Was not able to activate & locate cell. Found cell in the same room as my keys. I was really depending on PB since I have a lot of keys. I guess I'll be going back to Tile. Found a website on how to open them up & replacing the battery. Used this device on my LG phone.
Takes forever to connect. Put it on my dog's collar to keep track of him. He's like 6ft from me and it has been "connecting" for minutes. It should be instantaneous. The 150ft range is too short and I wish it has been listed on the package. I need an actual GPS tracker. For half off I can't complain too much though
I bought 10 of these. What's the point if the app shuts down in the background.
Please make the app auto start when the phone is rebooted. Until then you only get 3 stars.
Every time need to re-keyin the password

Update after update clicking find on the app will not trigger your finder. I want to know what bugs are fixed as the latest version of the app still doesn't trigger the finder with any degree of reliability. This piece of software never worked since day 1. Buggy as heck. Won't stay loaded throughout the day. Crowd gps can't work if the app doesn't stay loaded. Good luck trying to find your phone using the finder or stone button. It won't work as this application won't stay loaded on the phone.
Complete trash waste of money. New s7 updated with updated software...great signal to cell towers and wifi..never finds the product or phone. I am turning in this company to the consumer protection agency. There should be a class action suit..complete garbage...no phone number and crappy customer service
Waste of money and doesn't work. In need of a huge update/improvement.
Map doesn't update, no update on where trackers are since December... but I can still click find and they will buzz away
Seria melhor se cobrisse maiores distâncias
Great update!
Sometimes it works
I bought 8 of the finders to give as Xmas gifts for my family. 2 for each of us. App installed no problem, we all added them easily to our phones. 2 iPhone 6's and two Android phones A One Plus 2 and a One Plus 3. Everything was great until you move more than 5 feet away and then they lose connect. Really bought into Pebblebee being able to deliver this product. Looks like another pebble named company won't make it either. No Xmas joy in our house.
The latest update works well, but I notice that my battery is draining quicker, even overnight when phone is idle. Battery report advises it's the Bluetooth (609mAh overnight when phone is idle). Sort this issue and it's 5 stars.
Bought two finders as Christmas presents through Kickstarter. So wanted this to work. But the reality is it doesn't. It has ac range of less than 3 metres before it loses contact. So brilliant if you lose your keys on the sofa, but totally useless any further not even in that same room. The app drains battery life too. Currently burning about 1% every minute on my Samsung Galaxy 6 Edge. Will be deleting app and putting the finder in my useless kickstarter backed product draw and learning the lesson. Crap
Not worth a damn. It can't find the keys to which this is attached, because it says OUT OF RANGE' when it is in the same room!
Installation process was the best for any similar products but the finder doesn't work. Only rings occasionally. Expects this to be a bug that will be fixed.
The finder can't even find the pebblebee in my pocket
I thought the update would allow my finders to work. The phone still has to be 3 inch's from the devices. Changed batteries. Doesn't even ring every time. Arrrrgh...very frustrating and a waste of my money backing the kickstarter.
Logged me off. Password wouldn't work. Asked for password reset email. Still hasn't arrived. Think they went back to Boeng.
Installed software and it is working for me. It reaches about 25 feet for me.
Does not work
I had high hopes and supported the pebblebee campaign by buying 4. Offline mode still not available and app is buggy especially with the fluctuating mobile network in my work area. I regret buying 4 expensive key chains.
I wanted to love this tracker, but the poor quality of the app is making that impossible. The app shuts itself down no matter what I do. This affects the two way finding ability of the tracker. When I press the button on my tracker to ring my phone, nothing happens. Also, I periodically have to reboot my phone to get the tracker to even show up in the app.
App says finder is out of range even though phone is right beside device. I have to restart my phone in order for it to work properly. Furthermore, the location of the device on the phone is often incorrect. I was looking forward to this product. Please fix!
Kind of hard to know where an item is lost if it can't stay loaded. Its inability to stay loaded for people means a less extensive network of crowd gps. Also there is still no usable offline mode.
The Pebblebee Stone only works if the app is running. Okay that seems like no big deal. Except the app randomly logs out of its own volition every few hours. So say you street using the Stone to find your phone. You hit the button. Nothing happens. Because your app is logged out. It renders the primary function of the stone useless. Until the app is fixed this product is nothing more than a pebble in my pocket
It worked fabulously for me! I'm from Australia. I dont understand the negative reviews but here goes. I suspect some dont know how to set it up. When you need to pair it up, bluetooth needs to be on and then you need to squeeze the middle of the pebblebee and it picks up by bluetooth! Then press to claim it. To stop it flashing when found, squeeze press the pebblebee too! You really need to ask Pebblebee how to use it properly before posting silly reviews that implicate their business!!!

They let you down as soon as you need them. It's not worth the risk. I've tried so many times to love these aesthetically beautiful little things (I have 3.)
