What are users saying about Pearson eText for Canada

Q70%
by Q####:

Please...please fix the bugs. It freezes all the time when trying to download text for offline use. I always have to uninstall and reinstall app. Online functions are glitchy

Q70%
by Q####:

When I try to enlarge text starts to flicker and you can't enlarge fully. This is a problem in both landscape and portrait mode. Very inconvenient for smaller tablets. It also loads extremely slowly and some pages cannot be displayed. Terrible. If it wasn't for the class I'm taking that forces me to buy ebooks from Pearson I would ask for a refund immediately.

E70%
by E####:

It barely does what it was meant to do, very slow when loading pages, app crashes. when my device locks and is offline, it switches back to the last page it was on the last time it was online

U70%
by U####:

It gets the job done, not efficiently, not even close to efficiently but it works. If loading pages wasn't so slow, I'd rate it better.

I thought it may have had something to do with the internet, so I downloaded the chapters but still nothing loaded. Can't even read it on the browser because it forces me to use an app.

These adults are so stupid, that they ask kids to solve THEIR problems.

J70%

Hate this app. Poorest highlight method i have ever use. I wanna quit, nut bought the book and have to use this app to read my textbook. Do not buy online book from them. If you need access key, you can buy separately. I will never buy online book from them.

U70%

App worked great. One time. Never loaded again. Tried downloading the text for offline browsing and once I turned wifi off it told me that it's not available for offline viewing. Do yourself a favour: skip this app and just torrent the pdfs.

S70%
by S####:

Using this on my Nexus 7 tablet at school with a decent internet connection, tethered to my phone on transit, or even at home with a strong exclusive WiFi signal, this app virtually never loads a page in under two minutes. Two minutes to flip to a page in class is irredeemably and uselessly slow, and there's no excuse for it amongst a plethora of other high end e text readers. Pearson is doing itself and its customers a disservice by making e resources cumbersome and frustrating to access.

R70%

If u download this, u might aswell delete it. It lags so much even though I have perfect internet connection and a high end processor and ram, but it still lags,

If this app really worked as intended, it would be pretty good. Not great, but pretty good. But almost every time I open it, it force-closes at least once, often several times before it opens properly. I've had to download sections several times for offline use, and still they will only open for me sometimes, and there's no 'help' documentation to tell me if there's something I'm doing wrong, or if the app is just really that unreliable. (As one of the things they seeem to have done right is making the interface mostly straightforward, I'm leaning toward the latter). I heartily echo a previous reviewer's comments that the company's approach to ebooks is confusing and frustrating; even after contacting support (and getting a quick, friendly and totally unhelpful answer) I couldn't tell if my access to the ebook would expire when my course ended. Still don't know. When it works, after taking (on average) about five MINUTES to load up over a decent connection, the app is pretty nice; the pages look crisp and clear and lag between pages is acceptable. But wow, am I ever glad that I bought the hardcopy textbook rather than relying on the app. Could be so much better than it is!

If you need this for college and had to choose between an iPad and an Android device, I'd seriously consider the iPad. This is the most useless, buggy, slow, amateur app that exists. Period. Full stop. Maybe Pearson used fresh out of high school students to do the port from the iOS app to Android. It's the only explanation. Page renders are slow, up to a few seconds sometimes. Offline reading is spotty at best; the app will often delete entire chapters that you've downloaded. It crashes a lot too. I've spent hundreds of dollars on Pearson books and this is the app I get? The dim-witted second cousin of the iPad app. I've used both and even though my Android tablet is more powerful than that Apple garbage it runs like crap. You people should be ashamed. You print new editions of your textbooks every year with only minor changes and charge exorbitant prices for them, which students often have no choice to buy because last year's edition is "out of date." No wonder the print industry is dying. If you can't keep up with technology you deserve to go out of business. Good riddance.

The app itself seems to be functional, but I have in the last hour developed a deep contempt for Pearson's convoluted system of acquiring ebooks. It is unintuitive and frustrating. Much as I'm sure the possibility of piracy rightfully frightens the racket that is academic textbooks, the DRM hoops I have had to jump through to get access to a product I paid for nearly a week ago and only accessed today were more than enough to ensure I will only be buying used Pearson textbooks and NOT ebooks in the future.

E70%

It was fully functioning when I had this app on my ipad, now even if I download at chapters for offline use it does not load the page. Even when I'm Connected to the intenet it takes a very longtime to load pages.

Z70%
by Z####:

This app is not a very good app and that's mainly because I had to spend 3 hours just to download my book and then I find out that the it is just so hard to turn a page

K70%

Freezes system, will not load, and totally useless. Do not download!!!!
