About HHElProp
The so called Hall-Héroult process produces about 40 mio metric tonnes of aluminum every year worldwide. This smelting of aluminum is done in an electrolysis cell that uses carbon and aluminum as electrodes and molten cryolite as electrolyte.
The HH-ElProp app determines the physical and chemical properties of this cryolite electrolyte in dependence of its chemical composition and temperature. These properties are liquidus temperature, electrical conductivity, vapor pressure, viscosity etc. This information is necessary to optimize the operation of the electrolysis cells concerning energy consumption, current efficiency and emissions.
The user can select of several mathematical expressions for some chemical or physical properties. The theory part of HH-ElProp reports these equations and cites also the publications where this relations were taken from.
