Mixen is an awesome music player for Android with the ability to create a playlist that can be shared with friends near you. No need to be on the same WiFi network, just have the host of the party log into Spotify and bam, you're ready to get the party started. Songs that someone adds to your playlist show up and will be played.
Mixen is powered by Spotify! Therefore, the host of the party needs to have a Spotify premium account.

Okay, thank you for improving this app but it still isn't good enough. Since I don't have a PREMIUM Spotify account, I couldn't create my own Mixen. So l went to join and it had me enter my username and I did. I was all excited, then it tells me there are no Mixers near you. Why does it have to be near you it should be anywhere...? This is just a music app if I'm not mistaking. And, you should be able to create your own without having a PREMIUM Spotify account. Please fix.
