PdaNet Tablet for Android
Simply install this program on your Android tablet then select "Configure" to pair with your phone. If you haven't installed the PdaNet+ app on your phone please first do so from Play Store (or http://pdanet.co/android if Carrier delists tether apps) , then open it and check "Bluetooth mode".
*Limitation*: Since a lot of network apps specifically look for WiFi connection on start up and do not realize (or consider the case where) Internet is available through Bluetooth. They will fail to load. One way around this is to connect your tablet to a random WiFi hotspot at the same time, even one that doesn't give you Internet access. For example if you have a Windows computer nearby you can turn it into WiFi hotspot using the "hostednetwork" feature and connect the tablet to it. Or consider the following solution.
The Browser app on Android is not affected by the above issue. So if you have an app that fails to detect Internet, try to see if there is a web version of that app. For example instead of using the YouTube app you can go to http://youtube.com using the browser.
The above limitation is not ideal. However unless you can turn your phone into WiFi hotspot, this is the ONLY way to tether an Android tablet to and Android phone since USB connection does not work.
This app and all other tether apps were broken by a flaw in Android 4.4. But after Android 5.1 it works again. And since most carriers charge a lot extra for a tether add on, you need something like this to tether without the add on fee (my carrier is $20-$40 /MO extra.)
Works very good on my Ouku 7" tablet via BT tether. Clean and modernly designed app look. Highly recommend
You don't really need this app, just access the Internet from your phone, tablet, or computer wi-fi settings using your phones data plan. Watch Sling TV, CBSN, Local live news, entertainment, etc, etc.
I use a small USB powered WiFi router to give the tablet a hotspot to connect to. Configure the WiFi connection to the router with a fixed IP address like 192.168.1.2 so that it doesn't try to get an IP address from the router.
Hotspot still catch up but Bluetooth tethering help how to do it I see connection to my iPad but no internet access
Some apps says "No internet connection" but I did this review via the Google's play store. What's going on?
Followed instructions to the letter. My tablet connects fine but never receives any internet
Can we at least get an auto reconnect feature?
I have no problems with it working on my Note 3. Has always been a great app, in my opinion.
Use this all the time to connect via bluetooth, only wish it had an auto connect option.
Does not work
Love it
I love it.. it works great.
You guys are genius!!!!
It works perfectly for web surfing and internet apps on android. You have to connect the bluetooth tethering on the tablet as well as on PDANET Tablet to get full internet access from your android phone. MAKE SURE YOU ALLOW BLUETOOTH TETHER ON ANDROID. It took a while, but I figured it out. Now I am able to use all android apps that require internet connection. You may have to tinker with the settings, but it works flawlessly.
Giving 5 stars although there are issues. Doesn't work with all internet apps, like Netflix. Also on my Nexus 7 FHD burns thru a fully charged battery in less than 3 hours. Still this is the only tethering app that really works with my HTC EVO 3D 4G. Many thanks to the developer.
I used to always root my phone. Main reason was for free tethering. Then it turned into a rom downloading frenzy. With the new Evolte, stock version is probably smoother then any rom made for it, so thanks to this app I dont need root just to get free tether. It works great. With my original evo,evo3d and evolte. Hopefully it works with the galaxy note 2 im getting pretty soon.Keep up the awesome work devs. I already bought the original full app to tether to PC.
This app works great Bluetooth tethering and surfing. However, as others have stayed, it would be nice to access all my apps. Also, it needs a "hide tethering" option. If you do a check on what browser you are using, it clearly comes up that you are using a tablet. Without a "hide tether" option it will not take to long before most carriers figure out what you are doing and block it.
Everything used to work just fine. But now im not able to use google search bar app(have to use google in a browser) and im not able to download apps from the play store and theres plenty more I cant do amymore. Sucks cause I live in a place where you cant get Wifi so this was my only hope. Worked good but got ruined somewhere along the way.
I'm running FoxFi on an HTC Thunderbolt and PdaNet Tablet (this app) on my Motorola XOOM (WIFI only version). I disabled wifi on my Xoom, to avoid connecting to home network, enabled bluetooth on both my Thunderbolt and Xoom, and BINGO it just worked. Excellent solution. Will report back if I discover issues.
Works great for surfing Web tethering Nexus 7 to my Incredible 2. Found a couple apps that will work in this tether mode, but the majority do not. The problem I have is the full secure Internet buy in after 14 days. Paying for app privileges outside of Play store seems a bit shady.
Due to the bug in Android I had to connect my Samsung Tab4 WiFi to a router that was not connected to the internet. (I used an old cell phone with no sim card but turned on hot spot). Then I connected my Tab4 to my Samsung GS3 cell phone and connection worked perfectly Tab4 has Android 4.4.2, cell phone has Android 4.3. I did this sitting on a park bench and watched Netflix on my Tab4. ☺
Can't really comment because I just read the info on the new stuff I updated my phone and I would not have if I knew this would stop me from using it bummer. But two thumbs up to it before updating to kitkat at I may reset my phone to previous version before this kitkat oh well it really was some good stuff guys.
Easy to connect, great idea... but, the ONLY thing you will be able to do with it is web surfing. That's it!!! None of your internet based applications will work nor you can download a pdf document for example. Needs improvement. Tethered Transformer Prime via Bluetooth with HTC EVO Sprint unlimited DATA.
After installing PdaNet Tablet and connecting to an HTC Bluetooth connection (wifi does not work on HTC), I am able to surf web pages, but can not install any Apps from Google Play (it just keeps saying 'waiting on network'). NetFlix does not work either.
Lightning fast internet browsing, but just like other users, i cant open many apps. It seems as if it might be a problem with asus tablets only? I have an asus infinity and im using foxfoxfi on my old school htc evo
PDANet on Motorola Atrix 4G works with Macbook Pro, tethering on bluetooth & USB but won't work with tablet (Asus Transformer) where PDANet launches FoxFi. Two versions of PDANet were installed on my phone, 3.0.2 & 3.5. Please get it to work on Atrix 4G to pair with tablet.
My tablet was working fine with the program ,since they updated the software wich it sucks a lot now cuz i paid for pda net cuz it was awesome and now i cant use it it was the same to throw away the money in the trash =/
Everything was working so good on my ASUS TF-701 that on July 4th I bought this app. A few days ago I installed KitKat update. THAT was a mistake! If and when this gets fixed I will not update this tablet anymore. Bad on Google!
After waiting for months and being told to wait for the next update, which there have been a few, I am still unable to connect my Vizio tablet (running 2.3.2) to my HTC EVO 3D (running 2.3.4) via Bluetooth.
Unstable on both client & server on 4.2. App contantly crashes, freezes, and drops connection. DNS problems. Driver problems. Does not work well w/ VPN. Problems often req reboot or reinstall of client & server. Significant problems w/ usb & bluetooth modes. WiFi mode is useless bc it uses android tether mode and is immediately detected by carrier. Uninstall on PC leaves garbage & corrupts registry. AFTER UPDATE TO 4.3, APP DOES NOT WORK AT ALL!!! DEVELOPER DOES NOT RESPOND.
DOES NOT provide full internet access. I only updated my android OS because this app said it would then work in bluetooth mode, which it DOES NOT. It will connect but WILL NOT allow you to download anything such as files, apps, video, music, basically ANYTHING THAT WOULD BE A REASON TO WANT TO USE THIS APP. WORTHLESS WASTE OF TIME AND NOW IM STUCK ON CRAPPY LOLLIPOP WHICH I NEVER WANTED. SUDDENLY I HATE PDANET AND FOXFI DEEPLY. FILTHY LIARS.
This app works perfectly on all my applications. You tube was the only app that struggled to load. Ebay and craigslist ran normally. Your two devices must be paired and connected first before this will fully work.
My tablet was working fine with the program ,since they updated the software wich it sucks a lot now cuz i paid for pda net cuz it was awesome and now i cant use it it was the same to throw away the money in the trash =/
This app is amazing though i got disconnected everytime but what they promise is what it does just only its free version and i can't buy the pin.. but is it a bug or what cause when i use fb messenger it says no internet connection but messages has been sent. Im using it from phone to tablet im going tovtry this out with phone to android media box..
Just wondering why the BT tethering is so slow [as in, not practical for web or network browsing]. This is the case when my AT&T HTC M8 tethers to the same device model, my Nexus 7 2013, and my new Asus Moorefield ME572C. Also, I seem to get a faster ratio [averaging 30mb up / 30 mb down compared to 20 up / 19 down] when using stock Sense WiFi Hotspot config. Please shed some light or point me in the right direction for resources.
I paid for this app, but development seems to be very slow. I know your are aware of the issue. You have said that there is a bug in android 4.4 and up that prevents internet access unless there is WiFi or cell data connection. How is it then that native Bluetooth tether works android to android, but pdanet doesn't? There is no WiFi or network data present. The connection is not denied in native tether. Fix the bug and submit it to Google. That would be the fastest fix.
I've got a Garmin GPS in my Car that is serving as nothing more than a Headsup Display since 2008. I used to use it for Bluetooth purposes as well but lately it has sucked so bad that I've had to resort back to a headset. I recently purchased an Asus Nexus 7, on which I've got Google Maps, Waze and Inrix Traffic to find my way around for Navigation, Traffic and less expensive Gasoline. With the help of this App, I look forward to tether the Asus Nexus 7 over Bluetooth to my Motorola Photon 4G in order to enable my use of the Voice Navigational Features of Google Maps as well as the Headsup Display for Traffic or Gas Prices. I can now have Internet as well in my car, which will allow for a whole bunch of other things too but at least my minimum requirement is satisfied. I will report back on my usage here as time goes along.
I don't know if this is the app devs fault or what. I have a Galaxy Nexus 2 phone with a Nexus 7 tablet. With the new jelly bean update on my phone, Foxfi doesn't work with wifi, so had to switch to bluetooth. The Foxfi wifi worked awesome. This pdanet app now connects to Foxfi over bluetooth and internet works, but the apps I tried didn't. Gmail didn't sync and I tried a game that didn't connect. So, good, but not a perfect solution. Give me Foxfi that works with wifi on jelly bean and I'll pay for it!

I've been using this service for over a year but needed to reinstall the app to get it to recognize a new phone. Simply clicking the Configure button did not work, as it would repeatedly scan for a phone without discovering it. That's tough to do without a separate Internet connection.
