PayPal Here: Get Paid Anywhere for Android
I have a business and didn't enter the tax id at the set up time thinking I could go back and finish the setup at a later time. PayPal at the login just said that I am not qualified to use this app. I use square and another credit card processor at my business and wanted to use PayPal at the concession stand and movie stands. To bad for them I will use another card processor. Probably square.
In my taxi this is great and the customers love it. However, yesterday i went to a remote village with no signal. The app wouldn't accept payment. Could there be something added to submit all information then the app charge the customer when signal strength is greater. I know there is a risk here, but it will open up another customer base
DO NOT DOWNLOAD THIS APP: I was paid $700.00 over a week ago. "PayPal Here" held $181.12 . Called it "Pending." I called PayPal, they told me that i should have used the chip reader and that I wont see my funds for 30 days. I demanded to receive my funds. They refused. I asked to speak to a manager. I was placed on hold for 30 minutes. No manager. I called PayPal again. No help. It has been two weeks and still no money. I took two $21.00 purchases last night. (Well, it's under $500.00, right?) They held that too. "PayPal Here" has a lot of work to do on this app and in communications with the banks. DO NOT USE THIS APP!!! Today is March 12, 2017. PayPal Here owes me $221.00 and still hasn't given me back my money. I took a payment for something that was very important for me to have ALL NOT PART OF MY MONEY!!! PayPal here totally screwed me on this one.
Edit 3/3/17. New version has awkward sign in screen, goes portrait when in landscape plus you have to verify twice that you are signing out. Still hoping that a dedicated connect button would make it easier/faster to reconnect card reader when it loses connection to tablet. A little more effort in the POS and invoicing section would be nice. Right now the invoice doesn't access the catalog so it is more work to use. The POS needs a friendlier interface too. Like the service, like how this keeps growing, so I'm hoping for more advancement in the app.
It used to be, "Best way to get paid besides cash!" ...but after several "Updates" it no longer works properly. Failure to login, failure to remember choices, insistence that I turn on Location, but even if I do, it still asks again and again. And it always wants Bluetooth on, even though it does not need it. I am no longer happy with it. Then I pressed Back on the signature screen, and it locked up. I had to reboot my phone to get going again. I wish I could roll it back to a previous version that worked!
This app totally sucks. If I had known I'd be banned for answering the setup questions wrong, I wouldn't have guessed on some of the answers. I may call the help line, but have little hope of reconciling the issue. I've looked at online forums and there's been no help on this issue. I think the company may have me confused with someone else. I use PPH for another business of mine with no issue. I guess that doesn't mean anything to them. I hate to go to another business app, but I will.
Got the reader super fast! First time use was totally smooth and I looked like I knew what I was doing in front of my customer. I usually saw Square out there and ordered that one first. Found out PayPal is cheaper and connects to my existing secure account. I got the PayPal reader in 2days and used it once before even receiving the square reader. Funds transferred in a day or so.cant ask for better!
I love this Paypal app! It is user-friendly, which is important to me because I am not tech savvy at all. Plus, Even if I forget my card reader (which happens to me frequently) or my website goes down, I have a reliable source for accepting credit card payments.
PayPal has always taken great care of me. They sent a new reader when my old one did not work with my new phone. In over 10 years with them I've never had an issue with any of their apps or services.
Never had an issue until these last few app upgrades. It keeps telling me my log in is incorrect. I can log into my account on the Web just not the app. Called to have them reset my account....I'm still waiting for the phone call back..
After being with PayPal for seven years I receive my first complaint of unauthorized payment. When I call they say the customer did not receive item when I tell them I am a cab driver and I only use for fares they say that's what I meant. They took money out of my account then $20 for a fee. I have been having charges show up on my account that I cannot verify. PayPal might be hacked. My password has changed on its own twice. I do not feel safe with PayPal having access to my account I am switching to square. Cheaper fees and newer equipment.
The latest update is a sham. Login screen is forced portrait for no reason when the operation screen is forced landscape - who is the no-brain behind this? Product search by category no longer works and is an absolute woeful headache when you have a large inventory. Why fix something that is not broken? And if you must why release it without correcting schoolboy errors. Hopeless.

Does not work on Alcatel 4060a Ideal...Which is a brand new AT&T smart phone with Android 5.1. I had high hopes for this card reader only to be disappointed. Please update this software to be more compatible for newer phones.
Okay this is really getting annoying my clients have to punch in their pin twice!! as it says I'm logged in then they put thier pin for it to not have gone through and they have to re enter their pin again!!!! this is so ridiculous especially when your punching in a payment over the phone taking their credit card details and then once again.. asking them for the number again... also why is my screen rotating every time log in? this is stupid I might as well go with Commonwealth bank beacuse this app is just to unprofessional also the fees are so high and random I could make a $300 sale and get charged $4 & make to same amount over the phone payment to get a massive $10 cunck out of the sale how the heck does that work ???. For the amount of fees I'm paying I'm not happy.
Used to work perfectly, but after the last few updates the reader just refuses to connect. PayPal support is non existent to boot. Their forums are littered with unanswered support posts about card readers not connecting. Can no longer recommend this app and will be switching to zettle or square.
Anything collected over $500 in a week was held for a MONTH!!! We dont have access to our money until the 30 day variable reserve hold period is over. Customer service agent from India couldn't understand English to help assist me at all. Please use square so that you will not have the headache that we have had. Only 29 more days until our money will be released. Can't wait!!!! Paypal here is a JOKE.
It's annoying cuz I applied for this days ago, I need to use it and it won't verify my account... It says it takes 48 hours... But I'm just still waiting and I need to get paid for my work... Totally sucks, cuz it's been 4 days now :/
BE FORWARNED!!! , this app is not all it seems to be. You are not warned in advance, but any swiped business that you do over $500 in a one-week period will be held for 28 days, that means if you do a $1,000 transaction, or just several transactions that add up to $1000, $500 of it will be held for 28 days. I don't know how much more crooked you can get but PayPal has managed to do it. Already sgned up with square and waiting for the $411.00 Paypal is holding for 28 days.
I had been using Square for my merchant payment solutions for a very long time and suddenly had my account deactivated. I found that PayPal offered online invoicing, and was all over it. Very pleased so far!!!
It took me a little while and I had to use my money on my debit card to make sure it worked. This will work great. Now to put some of the money I spent back on my card. Thanks!
Small Business Owner Very Satisfied. Except for the fact that you can't switch account easily anymore. Now you have to re enter email address everytime you switch between accounts. It wasn't like that before.
Okay so... Super frustrating. When trying to sign up, it asks you what category your business falls under, and if you click on the wrong one (tried two so far and neither of them had my type) then it locks up the entire sign up process, trying to go back makes the app go white with a single word "true" at the top and you have to redo all the sign up process after clearing the app from current tasks.
Good app no issues with transactions and receiving money. Also never had issues logging in either, seen some complaints regarding that. It's been smooth sailing for over a month now
I've used the PayPal app for a few yrs. now and have found it to be most efficient. My only complaint if I were to complain is I need the area of fees applied to transactions for cc payments...
Update: with some updates the number of cards it would not read went down. However, the last update makes it so I cannot log into Paypal at all and its impacting my business! Please fix this. Doesn't work with the card reader, and it's not fair to charge a higher fee when the device fails to work 90% of the time
Was good until recently. After updating, the search and All items > category features under the products tab no longer works. Reset, uninstall, reinstall does nothing to rectify.
This app should be illegal , once you charge your customer ,PayPal here takes your money and invest it for 30 days before they will give you your money back and just leaves you with out your money for 30 days!!!!! No one told me that while signing up , no I'm stuck waiting 30 days on them to release my $3,700 back to me
I've never had any issues with processing payment through this app. Whether I'm using the card reader or typing in the card number manually, the process is always seamless. The only frustration I had was trying to use it over Wi-Fi. Once I realize that I cannot use it over Wi-Fi for security reasons, it made sense and I was relieved that PayPal considered the security of purchases.
Pretty unreliable. The tablet is paired with the card reader but the app keeps saying it is disconected. Functions about 1 time in 20 that makes the cost of the reader a waste. Most disapponnting.
Had a problem swiping mobile card reader. Then, someone showed me that you should kill apps running in the background and turn system/media volume all the way up. Also, the fingerprint scan doesn't work (samsung galaxy s5)
Can not use it with my galaxy note 4 as it makes settings crash. No problem with my old phone galaxy S4. Very disappointed i can not find a fix
I can't even log in. I've been trying for 2 weeks and keep getting a message saying PayPal are having difficulties. Fix It already!

Great for small businesses, I have had this for a month now and it is working great. The money is in my bank account by the end of the day. My only complaint is the battery life of the card reader.
Don't bother. Today kept wanting location services turned on even though it was which resulted ine not being able to use it. Then 20mins later, couldn't sign into PayPal here app, but normal PayPal app working fine, so couldnt process that payment either. Emailed support the monkey on the other end of the email said it doesn't support eftpos. Told them to read my email again. They then replied back and said reset the reader. Clearly an app problem, trying to run a business with a stupid app and not so clever technical support team has lost my business.
It now fails to recognize my GPS is already enabled. I can't send an invoice. This is rediculous. Fix it. My business is now being impacted.
After many updates, app finally works well for merchants. Doesn't work well with PayPal triangle plug-in device when not swiping cards. Have to remove that device before app functions correctly. Unfortunately, PayPal now has a higher duscount rate as in 3.8% when using the app. I ust happened during the last 3 months. Use to be about 2.8%
5/18/2017 UPDATE: I still have the same issues as mentioned below after several app updates. The worse is annoyingly asking my loyal clients for their email or cell # for a receipt EACH TIME. Another suggestion for this app: fix the logout sequence. The regular PayPal app exits easy and logs back in very smoothly. This app? It's a pain in the butt to log out. Then the log in after the painful logout is too time consuming. Why is this login/logout process as easy as the regular PayPal app???? It would be great if this app would request permission to read device contacts so I don't have to manually add client info. I've been having problems when saving customer info, "could not save customer information" message. Thirdly, the sales history list needs to be revised. That grey line should separate each transaction and not divide the two lines of each transaction.

As for a merchant app to accept credit cards, PayPal Here is simple and quick. It's also slightly cheaper per transaction if you use the swipe feature than Square. It also can go right in to my PayPal account or bank instantly which makes it even more convenient. The only draw back is it won't work on my tablet.
