『菩提道次第廣論』是宗喀巴大師最為重要的著作之一，主要依據阿底峽尊者的『菩提道燈論』而成。這本道次第從依止善知識及思惟暇滿人生之道前基礎開始，經過念死無常，思惟惡趣苦，思維業果等思惟共下士道修習，再經過思惟四諦，十二因緣的共中士道修習，依次第到達菩提心與止觀的上士道。這部論著涵蓋佛法三藏十二部，開顯自文殊菩薩，彌勒菩薩，經龍樹菩薩與無著菩薩二軌傳承下來的深見與廣行二門修行精要，並且特別標出了出離心，菩提心和空正見三種心要。

在無邊的宇宙， 踽踽獨行；你手握天來的明珠。
In this cosmos of no boundary,
There is time you walk all alone,
There, you hold in hand,
A shining pearl, gift of transcendence.

如在無垠的大海， 指尖有，止渴的甘露。
As in an infinite salty water,
Drops of sweet dews
At your fingertip.
