Or you found a couple of other “friend” apps, but then after trying them, realized that they were full of people looking for more than friendship.
Well guess what – Patook is an app strictly for friendships. So strictly in fact, that we have developed our own automatic method to detect when someone is flirting. We’ve even included a no-flirting clause in our terms of service so we ban such users. Any person who attempts to flirt via the app will get their account permanently banned before their message even makes it into your inbox.
The result? Women, men, couples and others on this app have the same goal and the same expectations.
If you’re on Patook, it’s to make great platonic friends. Period.
If that’s not enough to sway you, Patook has proprietary methods that match you to people who are similar to you. That means people who like the same things, and also dislike the same things. It calculates a point score for each user and tells you how compatible you are with them. So, instead of picking your “friends” based on giant pictures of them, you actually look through shared interests and pick which interests you care the most about.
Want even more control? Want to find a friend who speaks French, plays the violin, likes the same shows you do? Patook's point system allows you to give out points for traits you like, and then each user gets a little score shown next to their name.

* The matches tab shows you nearby users who you have a good chance of getting along with. Patook is centered around connecting compatible people together. The score shown on the top right is the result of your point system.
* The discussions tab acts as a local bulletin board where user can post various topics, discussions, jokes or rants. Discussions are visible to everyone within your area, so by posting to them you are effectively broadcasting messages to the neighborhood. People can then upvote and respond to the topics and the most interesting topics get surfaced. This helps kickstart conversations between people.
* The point system gives users more control in finding compatible users. For example, you can give 20 points to women, 10 points to people who speak French, and 20 points who are originally from the United States. The point count shows up next to the user's names.
* You can log in with Facebook to speed things up, but you don’t have to.
* Patook takes security and privacy very seriously. We have made as many privacy options as we could think of available. Our moderators are also happy to respond to any feedback from you.

This is a great concept however it worked for about a week and then it all went very silent despite the fact that I sent out lots of initial messages. I thought surely someone would reply so I created a new account to verify if the messages i had posted on my first account were being received. No they were not! So basically this is a friend making app where your possible friends can't see your messages. Sort out the bugs and I might be back!

I have been on this app for a couple of weeks and I have messaged numerous people and matches & even the new people that sign up...but I get no response, it's dead as a doornail in this app & im only going to give it a one..I would give less, (buuuttttt it's a smooth running app & has lots of great profile stuff..great idea for the app)..either the messenger is not functioning properly or these people are fake????? That's the REAL question...I'm about to uninstall if it keeps being dead in here!!

It's a good app for starting new friendships. For best results, start conversations with people that you would like to get to know. Don't just sit & wait for people to talk to you first. I've had really great conversations & have made new friends.

It's decent, its been two days and its telling me there arent any more people in my area to look for to try checking in a few hours... so that sucks. Other then that when you block someone it doesn't take them away until you click nevermind then refresh. I think its a decent app, but more of the kinks need to be worked out.

Love idea of being about friendships and not hookups, although the prohibition to flirt seems a bit extreme, I see the reason behind it. I've used it for a couple of days and uninstalled mainly because its still too glitchy. The interface packs a lot of options of privacy and profile filtering. You're in control of how and who can contact you. The matching system is based on a score derived from mutual interests and preferences. User score is shown in his/her profile. The main downside is the bugs ans that not a lot of people use it.

HORRIBLE. Not Recommended. 1. Does not have password recovery 2. Unresponsive support 3. Very glitchy app. When I opened my account, I realized right away that LastPass failed to save my password. I contacted support right away. No response. I went ahead and used the app anyway (my mistake). I spent a big chunk of my time crafting a detailed profile. Met a few cool people with potential for friendship. It was hard to use the app though due to all the glitches. Contacted support through the app and mentioned my password issue. No response. Then BOOM, my lovely Android phone reset it's PIN and locked me out. I contacted support again to reset my password so I can use the app from my tablet. They responded with a dumb response "Try and log in". Um? Password? Then, no response. I lost my account, my detailed profile, and my new friends who are probably wondering what happened to me. What a shame. This could have been a 5 star app.

This app is very promising! The interface is very well designed, and has a lot of options. I wish that there was a separate section for just matches. PLEASE make it so you can make profile views private (and by choosing that, we can't see who views ours either under "visitors", of course). I see a lot of profiles, so I find myself checking profiles repeatedly to refresh my memory as I chat with them to make sure I am not confusing them with someone else, and I hate that it alerts them every time. It is very awkward!
