ParkChicago for Android
If your credit card on file expires or gets compromised you have to call (if you can find the number). Then they email you a fake cc number to enter to reset your account. Make sure you do this prior to getting to your parking spot because it takes up to 6 hours to work. Absolutely archaic system.
I'm not sure what happened in the last update, but some mental powerhouse decided it would be a great idea not to be able to see your remaining time if your connection is spotty. They made some other pointless changes that weren't actual improvements, you still can't remove old license plates or select a default plate. The app itself functions, and is preferable to using the kiosks.
This app takes the guess work out of when your meter is up. It's super convenient when it's time to extend your time, allowing you to do so from your phone and therefore having to leave what you're doing to find a meter. It remembers the license plates you use as well as meter codes possibly saving time from looking it up. I love it!
Forces you to add $20. Other city parking apps let you pay per use, which is much more friendly for visitors or people who don't drive often. The setup process was long and seemed unnecessary. Do you really need my name, phone number, and email to take my money? The coin meters don't. No fun when standing in the rain trying to pay quickly.
A garbage app that allows the company to rip people off by notifying the inspectors of your parking expiry and issuing tickets right when the meter is up. And no way to get a refund on the unused time.
There is nothing wrong functionally. The charging system is a scam. It forces you to purchase a minimum $20 if your account goes under $10. I wouldn't have a problem with this app if they would give you the option to just let your account drop to $0 without being forced to purchase $20.. Frankly, in this economy it ridiculous to have this kind of forced payment.
Horrible! Corruption at it's finest. Min charge is $20 and if it goes below $10 you'll get automatically charged $20 and won't get refunded until days later if you want to cancel. Smh hell this profit doesn't even go to Chicago! It goes to a different state or country.
Charges thirty-five cents per use AND requires at least $20 instead of just letting you pay per purchase?? On top of that it requires you redeposit $20 when you're down to $10 rather than just $10 (or better yet just let me pay to zero instead of stealing my money!!!). Then again Chicago has always been disgustingly money-hungry and refuses to be reasonable.
Terrible terrible app. Worst UI, lacks features and no flexibility. But we have no choice and the devs know this so they either don't care or they are incompetent, or maybe both.
So convenient. Every driver in Chicagoland needs this app. Pay for parking on your phone. Get notifications when your time is about to run out. And re-up on your phone, too! That means no leaving the restaurant in the middle of dinner to feed the meter.
All the sudden my application start reading the error message 101. Try to call to resolve, nobody get back to solve the problem. Can't use it at all
It would be nice if they let you keep the balance for short parks.but what irritates me is that they charge a convenience fee. Better off just using your credit card. It's cheaper. I wouldn't mind the transaction fee if I could end a park earlier for a credit.
No more running out to feed a paybox! This app is a must-have if you're a suburbanite like me who drives in the city a lot for different events.
Convenient and easy to use. Would give 5 stars but dont like the .35 cent fee for any transaction under 2 hours. Tired of all these online apps and there so called convenience fees.
I was visiting from New Jersey and had a similar app from Hoboken City, nj. I thought this app was the same, I was wrong! The only big difference is that you have to pay upfront $20. That sinks bc I'm only going to use it once or twice and would lose the balance:( plus it would reload/charge me once my balance is below $10. I don't want to give money away to this corrupted system that they have in place!
Very poor Customer Support. I submitted an inquiry 2 weeks ago and I still have not received a response. I lost the money I deposited in the account for this app and I am very concerned I will not be able to retrieve it.
It is easy to use and convenient when you're unsure of how long you'll be away from the car. I don't like the fact you must reload $20 more when you're balanace is at $10. They will keep your $10 even if you delete the app. I'm dissapointed in the customer service they're very rude.
Great app!! Used it during my short trip in Chicago and it was easy to use, and had neat little features like countdown and also an alert that goes off 10 mins before time is up. Very very useful and helped me get around town.
Very easy and convenient. There are somethings I could suggest to make it a 5 star app. It could have QR codes on the signage. It could have a way to remember where you parked and navigate you back. It could suggest parking areas based on the spaces in each zone and how many cars are in that zone.
Outrageous street parking schemes are just another way for politicians and their cronies to gouge us, but at least this app makes it as painless as possible :)
Pretty much steals $10 from you as your account balance can never go below $10. Bit of a scam if you ask me.
Very convenient (the service fee for staying less than 2 hours is bogus). Unlike the meter, it's great that you can extend your time right from the app.
This app has so much potential to be even better. There should be a way to locate your zone code, it would be nice to get weather or traffic updates for the area you are parked etc...
I love this app. Extremely easy to use with a fantastic UI. Although, I don't appreciate to dispute the tickets I still receive from city personnel refusing to verify through the app. They should get some type of fine.
Easy peasy. Helpful especially in winter when the hawk is blowin, and the summer during the deluge. If only had locator features to let you know where the open spots were, it would be best app ever.
I have been using this app, and I still received a parking ticket. There's no communication between this app and the meter maids that give the tickets.
Few features that would be great: 1. Automatically suggest zone code based on location 2. Use Android Pay on phone as payment option (link to pay app) 3. Don't keep asking to select license plate number every time 4. Provide free parking nearby suggestions ;)
I use this app a lot. However, I would like to be able to add money to my acct when I'M ABLE TO DO SO - NOT WHEN NEEDED. At at the beginning of the month when I'm paying my bills and budgeting, I know when and how much I'm going to need for parking for the next couple of wks. However, with this app, you can only add money at the last minute and you can't go below $10.
This app is terrible. It makes you replenish your account when if you have plenty of money on there to cover what you need
Kinda scandalous that they choose $10 as "low funds" to request replenish account. Maybe $5 instead?
The 20.00 fee to replenish is ridiculous if your balance goes under 10. Causes so many problems.
I hate that I have to replenish it in $20 increments. It should be in increments of $5. It's a rip off if you are visiting Chicago.
There's no point in using the app. Half the time when I do, I get a ticket anyway and have to contest it and show proof that I paid. That more than erases any time saved by using this.
Convenient but...do I have to forcefully add money once my balance gets down to $10. I use this mostly for work, but if I need it for personal use, good luck switching the credit card. What if I'm moving and will no longer need the app? Can I get that money back?
BEWARE! App asks multiple times for u to confirm payment. This can trick u into thinking u already paid ur meter while they ticket ur vehicle. Unreal
Extremely easy to use and very accurate. Allows me to select both the best location as well as the least cost for the time I actually need. One of the best apps I have ever used. Highly recommend it regardless of your need to park daily or just once in a while.
Please allow users to enter parking time manually. Clicking down 15 times when I you want an even hour (to get rid of the default time of 15 minutes) is a pain!
I like using this app in the city BUT it's silly they automatically need to recharge card to use, even if there's still enough money on app account.
If you're in Chicago temporarily, there's no way to use this app for a small handful of parking spots. They require a $20 minimum and the only way to get that money back after you leave is to permanently deactivate your account and receive a check. For an app, that's way too slow and old school. On the other hand, it gets 2 stars since it does what it should do, and I enjoyed it while I used it.

Pro: Convenient as long as it's daytime and you can drive up to a zone sign. Con: automatic debit of $20 when account falls below $10; 35 cent usage fee; notification sound when meter is about to expire is a car horn! LOL! Really?!! And no way to disable it. Question--how are parking enforcement folks even able to tell when a car has paid via the app?
