ParkBoston for Android
Great app. Easy to set up and use. As an out of towner touring Boston for a week, I downloaded and used this app frequently and had no problems. I feel that 15¢ per park a bit much. I've seen some comments of users getting parking tickets, so was apprehensive, but I did not get any.
Would love an option to end session early, if I sign up for the full time allowed at the meter but leave halfway through there's no way to claim that money back. The meter cards can do this, the app should be able to as well.
Not a Good Experience! So I went to visit my fiancée in the hospital on a Saturday and used the Park Boston app to pay for my parking. I made sure everything was correct and confirmed the space was payed for between 12:25-2:25 pm. My car was ticketed at 1:15 pm and to fight the ticket I would have lost time from work plus paying for more parking (some other way, of course!) Not worth losing twice the cost of the ticket so we just paid the $25 and vowed never to use this again. Highly unrecommended!
Worst Customer Sevice, Both Rep and Supervisor, didnt hear question. giving answer that had nothing to do with Question. Also # in help is to local parking Authority not App Co. Very poor support.
Would give -5 stars if I could. Touch interface difficult to use. Slow to respond, thus having to start over. There is no clear signage advising if time can be extended. Unfortunately, the app said I was an area that doesn't allow extensions, and I got a ticket. Very poor overall experience for my first visit to Boston. May never come back.
So much better than that other parking app some greater Boston areas chooses foolishly to uses. Always works perfectly. It has likely saved me hundreds of dollars in parking tickets and is much more convenient than running out to feed a meter. I'll use this in Boston every time and save my quarters for outside the city.
This service is great when it works, however, I needed to change the credit card associated with this app because the original Visa was discontinued. The app refuses to save the new information. I was depending on this app to avoid my begging for quarters for the meter late at night. There is no way to contact humans for help.
Super easy to use and convenient. The app will warn you when your meter is running out of time, and then easily add time to a meter if you're running late. Never worry about having quarters on hand again!
While the app seems to work fine for parking, their adminstration is horrible. They set up two accounts for me, managed to deactivate both and never credited me for the money I had stored with them. Now I can't park without creating a 3rd account and giving them more money. Tried calling and emailing several times over 2 year period.
App is okay, but doesn't feel wholly trustworthy. It lets you start paying a little before 8 am and stops at 8 pm which is nice, but it doesn't warn/prevent you from paying during parking bans. They already link each zone to a street and the street's parking bans rarely change so it would be very easy for the app to warn you instead of letting you pay. Feels like the city would rather you get fined or towed than provide you with a reasonable solution.
Ran out of time. The app wouldn't let me add more. Ran to my car and ticket was issued within 2 minutes of time running out. The app definitely allows BPD to stalk your car and issue tickets more efficiently. Won't use it again.
So easy to use dont ever park in Boston without this app. Just found out about it and it has changed my life! Seriously. No quarters needed. Have ypur payment on file. Know exactly when your meter is running out.
I love this app. It alerts you when your time is up with an option to increase your time. Sometimes you're in a spot and don't realize that it has a time limit. With this app you know. If you try to increase your time and it won't let you... move your car. Some complain about the 15 cent cost per use. Well, when you're 2 blocks away and it's pouring outside you won't moan about increasing your time from the dryness of where you are. I've never had trouble using this app... Never once.
I was starting graduate school at Simmons and I finally found a place to park. As I was running late I forgot my change. I thought I was going to get a ticket, but this app was to the rescue!!!! It's simple and I was able to park without change or a ticket!!!
Love that it reminds me also that my time I'd almost up. Perfect! It hung up on me once when trying to add time.. but works well.
This app is the best thing ever! It has made my life so much better, has saved me hundreds in parking tickets, and is very easy to use. Now if Boston would just get all their meters on the play-by-app system.
Do I want to schlep out to the meter on this cold day, or do I want to hang out at my friend's warm pad & have another cup of coffee? Fill 'er up! Thanks, PayBoston!
This is perfect for my needs. Coming to work way before the meters start, this is a great alternative to running away from my desk to put quarters in a meter. It's a 15 cent fee, but compared to all the other fees in the city, that's pretty much nothing.
App loads quickly, minimal set up, and lets you get on your way without stress. Only quibble: you should be able to load more than $10 on the prepaid card at a time... That's less than two max length parking stays.
Two things: wish it could be more clear in the error message about not accepting amex rather than "not authorized". Or just not let me add AMEX to start with. 2) Maybe consider Material design?
I paid my friends parking when in Boston today with the app and she got a ticket. The saddest part is the ticket says use park boston....um we did. Got a ticket still. Uninstalling.
Simplet yet very useful. Stopped worrying about coins, extending time when needed, and got better idea on when NOT to pay (app displays holidays, which is great). Nice job developers!
This is so much faster than paying with quarters because I don't have to scramble and find them. I can pay the minimum and keep extending it as I know how long my stay will be so I end up paying less. The only downside is you have to move your car to a different street (different zone) instead of a new spot a few cars up after the max time.
This has saved me $100s in parking tickets. The most useful app on my phone! The only thing I wish it did was when you move and park some where else in Boston I can't roll over any time I've already purchased. If it did that it would be 5 stars!
Proceed at your on risk with this crap. I paid my meter, and still got a ticket. Meter started at 2:45pm and ticket is dated 2:46pm, so clearly the Boston police is faster than the information sent from the app. At least they could reconcile the information and clean up their own mess when they notice tickets are being issued after payment. But clearly it's more practical to put the burden on drivers. Shame on Boston city!
I love the idea of the app, but as others have noted, many meter maids don't bother to check if you've paid for parking through the app. I don't particularly enjoy having to print out receipts and write letters to have bogus violations dismissed.
If you like disputing parking tickets then this app is for you. I have used this application 5 tickets, three of which I received a "meter fee unpaid" ticket while I had time on the app, my time was not even close to being expired. Boston, PLEASE fix this problem, train your meter maids to actually check this app.
The app seems great but of 4 times using it I got 2 tickets. That cost me stamps to send a receipt. They fix the tickets but it is really annoying to deal with.
When ever I use this app the clock will randomly start at different times for instance if I pay for 24 minutes, the clock will start at 22mins33secs. It's always different. Your stealing time from us.
Don't pay quarters first and then use the app... it may have been user error on my part but I got a ticket and was very confused. Anyway the app is great, simple, and easy to use. It saves zones you frequent and you can make the name for your car to describe it.
It's a very convenient app: works very well, don't have to lug around quarters and most importantly I can refill my meter remotely. However, I still got a ticket although I paid the parking fee. The inconvenience of going through contesting the ticket outweighs the convenience of the app if it happens again.
GREAT APP! Simple and Convience to Use. The BEST about the app was for user to have a recorded due to some area that doesn't have the Zone for the App like Cambridge where I work. Park on the street still have 5 mins until the Meter end, when get out got a ticket before time ended.
There is nothing wrong with my Internet. Serious delay in sending verifications. Had to go back to my car and find the ticket booth because it wouldn't let me log in. Very frustrating.
I was parked at Northeastern and went to commencement, which lasted over 4 hours. I had to then move my daughter out of her dorm. I did not leave any time where the meter was expired. Still found a ticket on both my daughter's and my cars. Don't worry they still charged me for the meter along with a $25 fine. Thanks.
This might work, if the parking enforcement personnel knew about it. I was ticketed for a meter violation the first time I used it! Yes, I double-checked my license plate, and car description in the app setup, as well as the parking zone information. It's inconvenient having to print out and mail in a copy of your app 's parking receipt every time you park, hoping that the violation is properly removed.
App does not give you specific information about times you are allowed to park on a particular street. Some parking signs are missing in the city of Boston. You will receive a citation if a sign is missing. This app is convenient to pay a certain meter using your phone
Removes the hassle of quarters. Maybe give random discounts/incentives to use bc if I have quarters I'd still use them instead of paying the fee
The app is easy to use. It doesn't have horrendous glitches but sometimes when I lose network connection halfway through a payment, I need to restart the app
15 cent convenience fee on 25 cent parking? When the city has put these everywhere with no alternative or competition to keep fees down? No say from the public on what amounts to yet another tax on us, with the city pulling the trick just passing it to citizens as a "vendor fee"?? If you are similarly outraged please mark my review as helpful so people see it and join me in BOYCOTTING this (meaning no one using the features that trigger convenience fees) until the vendor & city lower it to 5%!!
